Day 14: Your Name

[I’ve done my name before, so I did the little one's♥]

you love the hate that we share

I think this is the most antagonistic version of Stiles and Derek I’ve ever written. It was surprisingly fun.

Sterek high school AU,  ~5.7k words, rated T. Title from the song “Enemies” by Shinedown.

Maybe it’s petty — okay, it most definitely is — but it just irritates Stiles that the universe makes people like Derek Hale. He’s practically superhuman at lacrosse; he’s been blessed by the puberty gods with stubble and muscles on top of muscles and not a pimple in sight; he spouts off effortless monologues in Spanish class while Stiles is still struggling to remember how to say “Can you repeat that?”; he could probably make a killing as a male model; and when he asked Lydia to study with him, she said yes. Like, seriously, what the fuck.

Preference #7: They Ask You to Stay the Night

-Hey do you think you can do a preference when they ask you to stay the night at their house for the first time type of thing?- @beanielover22

A/N: Alright, I apologize if this sounds a little rushed. I’m trying to post it before the hockey game tonight. I may be Brett Talbot Trash, but I’m a million times more Pittsburgh Penguins Trash. (If you’re also a hockey fan, please follow my personal blog @jackeichels15)If we win tonight, expect a hockey related imagine tomorrow. Message me with who you think it should be with! Okay, have a good night and LET’S GO PENS!!!  HA go ahead and ignore this, because we lost. I’m also crying trying to decide on whether I want to watch game six or the Tony’s on Sunday !!

Scott: Melissa was working the night shift, and you had fallen asleep on Scott’s couch. The two of you were cuddled together, a random movie playing in the background. You were woken up by Scott, who had picked you up and was currently carrying you up to his bed. “Scott, what time is it?” “It’s about two in the morning. You can just sleep here tonight.” He placed you down on the bed and kissed your forehead. “Good night, babe.” He covered you with a blanket before settling in next to you.

Stiles: Stiles had called you right as you were about to go to bed. “Stiles, what’s wrong?” You asked, turning the lamp next to your bed off. “I had another nightmare about the Nogistune.” He sighed. His voice was weak, and you could tell he was upset. “I’ll be right over.” You grabbed your shoes and drove over to Stiles’ house. Before you even knocked, Stiles opened the door and embraced you in a tight hug. “Please stay the night.” He spoke.

Derek: You and Derek had just gotten back from a date, and it was pouring outside. The two of you ran inside, seeking shelter in the loft. Unfortunately, your clothes were soaked, so Derek gave you a shirt and a pair of sweatpants to wear. The two of you were cuddled on the couch for a while before realizing that it was getting late. “I should probably go. I have work in the morning.” You got off the couch and grabbed your wet clothes before heading for the door. When you opened it, the rain was still pouring, even harder than before. “Just stay here for the night. I don’t want you driving when it’s like this.” Derek said, wrapping his arms around your waist.

Liam: You rushed inside Liam’s house, paranoid of what may lurk in the night outside. He grabbed your hand and pulled you down on the couch beside him. He reached his arm around your shoulders and pulled you close to his chest. “Don’t be afraid, baby.” He cooed, playing with your hair. “I won’t let anyone hurt you.” You sighed, knowing that Liam would stay true to his promise, but you were still afraid. “I know, Li, but I’m afraid, that’s all.” You felt a warm tear slide down your cheek. Liam quickly wiped the tear from your cheek. “You have no reason to be afraid. I’ll always be there.” Liam kissed your forehead. You eventually fell asleep in his arms.

Brett: “I don’t understand, Brett. Why are you being so cold?” You asked, tears brimming in the corners of your eyes. He had his back turned to you, but as soon as he heard the sadness in your voice, he turned back to you. “Y/N, it’s a long story. I don’t think I can tell you. You wouldn’t understand.” He sighed. “Well, I don’t understand why you’re throwing away this relationship. Goodbye, Brett.” You whispered, walking out the door into the cold night. “Y/N, no, please!” Brett yelled out. “I’m sorry.” Your voice was barely audible. Before you could even leave the driveway, Brett grabbed your wrist. “Don’t leave, please. I’ll explain everything, just please stay.” You reluctantly agreed and listened to Brett explain everything about why he had been so cold. He came clean about being a werewolf, and sure, you had a few questions, but you were surprisingly accepting. By the time the two of you had finished talking, it was already 3 AM. Brett had asked you to stay the night. You happily agreed, seeing an excuse to cuddle with the boy you were falling in love with.

Theo: You and Theo were at a party that had lasted until around 2 AM. Theo wasn’t drunk, for obvious reasons, and you were only lightly buzzed. The two of you decided to stop and get something to eat at a nearby diner. The two of you talked until around 3:30 in the morning, finally leaving after eating two slices of pie each. Before you got in the car, Theo stopped. “Will you stay the night at my house? I don’t think you should be going home after such a wonderful date.” He winked. You just laughed, “Sure, Theo. I’ll stay.” You kissed his cheek, before getting into his car.

Parrish: You were on your way home after work, when you received a call from Jordan. “Y/N, I hate to bother you, but could you bring me some soup?” He coughed after finishing the sentence. “Aw, you poor baby! I’ll be right over with you soup and some medicine, sweetie.” When you got to Jordan’s house, he was laying on his couch, tissues and empty water bottles scattered around him. You just shook your head and smiled. “What?” He asked. “You’re too cute, even when you’re sick.” You chuckled. You spent the night with Jordan, making sure his temperature stayed under 100 degrees and watching his favorite movies. When you woke up the next morning, Jordan was down in the kitchen, making pancakes. “You must be magic.” He shrugged his shoulders.

  • Untamed by rosepetals42 (T, 28k) Of course, the transfer kid gets mentioned because transfers are rare, but the news isn’t that exciting. In fact, according to Laura, no one even seems to know his first name. The only thing anyone has really figured out about him is that he’s American. And that’s not exactly hard because he obviously has an accent. The only thing Derek really knows is that, despite other reports, he seems quiet enough, prefers to work alone, and has the most amazing shade of amber eyes that Derek has ever seen. Not that he’s looking. Obviously. OR: A Harry Potter AU where Stiles is a Slytherin transfer student and Derek is the grumpy Gryffindor who falls in love with him. There are also potions, elves, and falcons involved. Oh, and illegal use of magic. Obviously.
  • Mother of Dragons by lissadiane (G, 20k) Since Hogwarts had opened its doors to werewolves, many Hale children had apparently come through, wary and angry, refusing to socialize with the other students. And one by one, they’d been sorted into Slytherin, obviously, with the odd Ravenclaw to mix things up.And then along came little Derek Hale, who’d barely gotten his ass on the stool before the hat was calling out Gryffindor. Everyone thought it was funny, even now, when Derek was in his seventh year. Stiles, though, found it fascinating. It helped, of course, that Derek was two years older and hotter than the sun.
  • Such Things Don’t Bear Repeating by Allizane (E, 25k) A wizard, a wolf, and a boy. Or: spells and magic can never truly substitute for strength.
  • kickstarts again by 1001cranes (T, 4k) Derek has known Stiles was his mate since Fourth Year; Stiles keeps getting lost on the way to the Common Room - these two things may very well be related.
  • An Intermediate Guide for the Lycanthropic Lovelorn by ladyblahblah (G, 3k) Stiles doesn’t know why Derek Hale has asked him to go to Hogsmeade with him, but he’s preparing for the worst just in case.
  • chantes une nouvelle chanson pour moi by pr1nc3ssp34ch (Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski, E, 13k) Stiles Stilinski has been at Hogwarts since his first year, okay. That’s six years of experience. He knows how Hogwarts works, how it operates. He’s not quite an expert or anything, but he’s pretty damn sure he knows this school. So why the hell have they waited like a million years to start taking transfer students? And why is he the only one who can’t get a French date?

  • He Blinded Me With LIbrary Science by mklutz (E, 6k) Stiles blinks. “Right, the reading room. Do you have your, uh …library card?” he asks. He’s never been able to make that sound normal and not vaguely dirty when he actually means wand.
  • Always Yours To Have by thestreetballet (T, 25k) Derek Hale, a sixth-year student (and werewolf) at Hogwarts, discovers that he’s bonded spontaneously to Stiles Stilinski, a second-year student. So, he does what any other werewolf would do - befriend the younger boy to get closer to him. Derek’s sister tries to play matchmaker, Stiles remains oblivious, the Hunters want his blood, whilst his own uncle is a rabid werewolf purist who hates humans (and Stiles’ father). Unsurprisingly, Derek wishes everyone would leave them alone.
  • Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by pandacowhipster (T, 13k) When potions prodigy Stiles blows up one cauldron too many during one of his ‘experiments’, he gets assigned to making Wolfsbane Potion for the new groundskeeper. Which wouldn’t be so bad if the guy wasn’t you know, terrifying.

Stiles holds his breath as Mortimer soars across the Great Hall.

Scott raps his wand across Stiles’ fingers, “Quit chewing your nails, dude, ‘s’gross.”

“I’m nervous, Scotty,” Stiles groans, loosens his tie. “I mean, what if he never speaks to me again?”

“You’re already in danger of that happening, man. Accio salt,” Scott adds, pouring a liberal amount on his porridge. “He asked you to the Winter formal, and you shot water all over him and ran away.”

“Accidentally, accidentally, Scott! I panicked, okay? I thought he was gonna cast a Langlock spell on me.”

“Because you rambled at him for like ten minutes before he could cut in and ask. It’s a big deal for a seventh year to ask a fifth year to the dance,” Scott sighs dreamily as he glances over at Allison. She’s sitting with a bunch of other beautiful Ravenclaws, and when she spots Scott, she whips her wand in the air to form a smoke heart. Scott beams. Stiles resumes chewing his nails.

“I embarrassed the fuck out of him, so, I’m returning the favor and you know—”

At the Slytherin table, Derek allows Mortimer to land on his fingers, glances over at Stiles curiously. Stiles ducks underneath the table, “Tell me what happens!”

“The whole hall is gonna be able to tell you,” Scott pats his back sympathetically.

“I’m not ready,” Stiles moans, “Maybe I can call Mortimer back—”

Summary: When Liam Dunbar spots an incredibly alluring girl in the hallway with glowing green eyes, the pack (or more like Stiles) becomes suspicious and investigates.

*I don’t own the gif; credit goes to the wonderful owner/maker*

Note: So the first four chapters are written; I’m still working on the fifth one (which has the siren request in it lmao I know I went nuts). I’m still trying to figure out if I want to continue it after the fifth part… I think I’ll wait to see how you guys feel about it and then go from there…

“There she is!” Liam shouted, and Stiles slammed on the breaks. The four of them lurched forward; Mason’s head smacked against the back of the passenger seat and he let out a groan.

“Liam, what the hell?” Stiles nearly shouted. Frantically, he glanced over at Malia, doing a two-second full-body scan. Once he had assessed that she was indeed alright- in fact, she was giving him a weird look- he craned his neck to glare at his back seat riders. Liam was looking out the window, one hand pressed against the glass. “Do you want to explain-”

“That’s the girl I saw in the hallway! The one with the green eyes! That’s her.” He jabbed his finger against the window impatiently. “Look, she’s got the polka-dot backpack. She’s standing next to the guy in the red shirt. Can you see her? She’s right over there-”

Mason threw his hands up. “Liam, what girl? What are you talking about?”

Malia was staring hard at the young Beta. “Yeah, I’d like to know too. When you say ‘green eyes’…”

Liam talked very fast. His eyes were still locked on some far away figure near the school that Stiles had yet to pin-point. “Earlier in the hallway I saw this girl and she smelled really good. Plus she was really, really hot. At one point she looked at me and her eyes flashed to a bright green. I think she’s some kind of thing or something… Stiles, drive! She’s heading for the other side of the parking lot!”

Stiles scoffed. “Are you crazy? I’m not going to-” Suddenly Malia’s hand was on his thigh, pushing his foot down on the gas. Letting out a yell, Stiles turned and gripped the wheel tightly, fighting for control of the shuddering Jeep. “You can’t just do that! She’s got some age on her!” He scolded, stroking the dashboard while sending a death glare at Malia. “Besides, you just wasted about twenty bucks of gas.”

“Just follow her.” Malia hissed. With a suddenly dry throat, Stiles complied without a single argument. Sometimes his girlfriend was the scariest thing he had ever encountered- and that was saying something.

As Stiles crossed the parking lot as casually as he could, Mason shifted to face Liam. “When you saw this girl… was it when I was with you earlier?”

Liam peeled his eyes away from the lot to look at him guiltily. “Maybe.”

           “Why didn’t you say anything?”

           “Because… I don’t know…” Liam let out a breath. “I wasn’t thinking, I guess. I saw her and I panicked. It was weird.”

Mason nodded, licking over his lips. His tone became harsher. “You know, I’m getting real tired of you lying to me, Liam.”

Liam’s mouth opened wide. “I’m not lying to you!”

“Oh, maybe not now. But earlier in the hallway, when I asked you what was wrong, you told me it was because of the lacrosse game tomorrow night.”

           “Look, Mason-”

“I know that girl.” Malia declared. When Stiles glanced over at her, he saw her face in a focused frown as she stared out at the sea of students with her nose slightly wrinkled. He couldn’t help but think she looked cute. Of course he wouldn’t say that out loud- not right now, at least.

Liam practically had his nose against the window. “You do?”

Slowly, Malia nodded. “Yeah, that’s Y/N. She’s new. Lydia and I met her today. We had to help her find the choir room.” She paused as if she were remembering it. Stiles wished he had been there with her. “You’re right Liam; she did smell good. Extremely good.”

It was quiet in the Jeep as they all began to process the new information. “Well,” Stiles broke the silence after a moment. “Do you have any idea what she could be? Any evil vibes coming off her or anything?”

“No!” Liam nearly hollered, drawing plenty of attention from the kids outside of the Jeep. Agitated, Stiles pulled out of the parking lot. “Sorry.” Liam muttered. Then he cleared his throat. “She’s not evil.”

“How do you know that?” Mason snapped. “What, just because she’s a pretty face and you’re hoping that she’ll give you the time of day?”

“Damn,” Malia whispered. Stiles snickered. Liam was speechless. “I think I agree with Liam, though.” She said after a moment. “Y/N acted very sweet, and she smelled like pure happiness and innocence.”

Liam pursed his lips. “Maybe she doesn’t know that she is… whatever she is.”

“Like Parrish.” Stiles nodded to himself and wet his lips. “He had no idea he was even supernatural until the Deadpool. Maybe this Y/N girl won’t know unless she’s told or something.”

“Do you think Deaton might know?” The reflection of the stop light shone in Malia’s eyes as she stared out the windshield.

“It wouldn’t hurt to bring it up with him.” Stiles submitted.

Liam fished his cell phone out of his back pocket. “Scott’s working a shift today at the animal clinic. I could text him and see if he can ask?”

The moment Deaton heard green eyes and sweet-smelling scent, he knew exactly what they were dealing with. “It sounds to me like we’ve got ourselves a siren.” He said while putting away some tools.

“A siren?” Scott repeated, mouth dropping open.

Deaton nodded and closed the storage cabinet. “Yes- although it’s highly unusual for one to be without a pod and not directly near a body of salt water.” Scott was hanging onto his every word. “She can’t be underestimated. Sirens are notorious for being vengeful creatures. They want to take their anger and pain out on everyone; they allure people by singing and then kill them.”

Scott was absorbing all the information. “So what you’re saying is watch her.”

“No,” Deaton gave him a small smile. Scott had been through so much in the past two years. Deaton didn’t blame him for automatically assuming the worst. “Just be wary of her. See what she decides to do.”
