A Truly Outrageous Adventure!

Last nite, I happen to be on twitter at the right time to see Scooter Braun post that they needed extras for the JEM movie. Being a huge fan of Jem and The Holograms, I was out the door faster then you can say “Showtime Synergy!” I made it there in no time and was one of like 5 people that showed up from the tweet, one being Riggles, who I found time to call once I parked.

After we signed nondisclosure forms, so if your looking for an inside scoop your outta luck, we were taken on set. Seriously I kinda lost it. First cause this was my first time being an extra, even though I’ve lived in LA for almost 5 years now. and second, cause we walked by the actors trailers. Seeing Jem and The Holograms names on the doors kinda was like a… “oh man.. this is happening!” moment.

Once inside it was obvious it was a concert scene. Which is probably the BEST scene to get in! You get to rock out and hear a song from the movie and see the girls in all there glory! The band looked GREAT! (and thats all your getting) and totally rocked it out. I got to play audience member and dance and sing along.

I had a moment with Stefanie Scott, who plays Kimber. One shot the did the crowed is supposed to repeat after her and no one really was. I was but you couldn’t hear me over the others. So between takes she was kinda just talking out loud, singing the line and i followed. she looked at me and i heard someone say “oh yeah he’s feeling it.”  To which i responded “Yeah man, i got your back!” and pointed and nodded at Stefanie and she pointed and nodded back.

At the end of the night i had a brief moment with the entire group when the extras were released, saying that they looked great and that i was a fan of the cartoon and i thought they were amazing. They were awesome and said various versions of “no your awesome.” and “how sweet, thanks"

It was basically 4 or so hours of getting to see my favorite cartoon band perform. Grant it, it’s modern take. But I knew who they were supposed to be, and The 6 year old in me came out.

I got home in time to get 2 hours of sleep for work. but not before tweeting to the cast how great they look and getting this in response….

It’s one thing to be tweeted back by someone you never expect to tweet you, but for it to be the actress playing your FAVORITE character. I just can’t!

Words of advice… if your in LA and you are free to be an extra on 5/14… GO!! It was a long night and I was exhausted all day at work, but it was totally worth it and i wouldn’t have traded it for anything!
