In 1936 Georges Bataille formed a secret society named Acéphale -“headless” - whose symbol was a decapitated man. Their meetings were held in the forest and Bataille planned for one member to become a human sacrifice. The ritual murder would link the others in a pact of blood. Bataille´s gory initiatory crime, however, was aborted shortly before the outbreak of World War II.
