Created as a flood control project and recreational area, Shawnee State Park and Lake attracts thousands of visitors to Bedford County every week-end,—as campers, to enjoy the bathing beaches which fringe the lake or to fish in it’s well stocked waters. The lake, extending many miles through Shawnee Indian country, is surrounded by a large state developed park.
