Scott couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment he knew that he was completely in love with you. Maybe it was when you always thought he was cool even back then prior to the bite. Maybe it was when the Alpha Pack threatened your life. Maybe it was when he bit you to keep you from dying in his arms, the same way his first love did. Maybe it was when you noticed your eyes glowed a nearly scarlet color and Deaton explained to Scott that it was because you were bitten by your mate. Even though the moment he realized his love for you was unclear, Scott knew that he loves you now.

But even through these indications and even with your heightened senses, you were completely and utterly blind. Even when Malia would point out Scott’s rising heartbeat or when your eyes mysteriously were scarlet, you still could not figure out that Scott McCall was in love with you.

“You should tell her.” Stiles encouraged his best friend. Lydia and Malia nodded in agreement. “I mean, (Y/N)’s got a big brain but she can’t put together this puzzle.”

“Not only because she’s oblivious but because so many guys are planning to ask her to out.” Lydia added. “She’s single but supernaturally, she isn’t.”

“I’m not marking her.” Scott, the forever gentlemen, scoffed. The bell rang and Stiles pulled his friend along with him.

“Your time’s ticking away, Scott.” Stiles shook his friend, trying to shake some courage into him.

You were already in your biology class. With the big letters of POP QUIZ written on the board, you decided to do extra studying. Your nose was pressed so far into the book, you didn’t see Scott and Stiles enter. You also didn’t see Stiles scrambling to a seat behind you and Scott basically rush into the empty seat next to you before some lacrosse player occupied it. But you did hear the slight warning growl coming from your alpha.

You pried your eyes away from your book and raised an eyebrow, questioningly, at Scott. But before you could verbally tease him about it, your teacher started passing out the quiz.

As you began your test, you realized Stiles had been coughing and clearing his throat excessively which obviously distracted you for he did it rather loudly. You and Scott glanced at each other for a split second but you quickly looked away, feeling heat rushing to your face. Scott, on the other hand, turned slightly to his friend and glared while Stiles returned two thumbs up.

Scott took a deep breath and tapped your arm. You gave him a confused look but he just looked over at your paper. “Scott, stop trying to cheat.” You whispered.

“I’m not…” Scott replied but was shushed by the teacher. After a few moments, he whispered again. “I saw a mistake on your paper.”

Your eyes widened as you scanned your paper. “Where? I don’t see-”

Scott smirked, even though you couldn’t see him. He looked up and made sure the teacher’s back was turned a different direction. He reached over and pointed at your name.

“Uh… what?” You inquired, looked at your alpha.

That Should Say McCall.” Scott and you kept your eyes on each other before the teacher separated the two of you.

After class, the two of you met outside the classroom. “I was not aware that my name is now (Y/N) McCall.” You sassed. Scott wrapped his arms around you.

“Oh good you told her!” Lydia smiled.

“Finally, we can stop pretending that we don’t know they’re mates.” Malia grinned. You perked up at that.

“Wait what?” You asked, looking at Scott for an explanation.

“It’s a long story but before i explain that, I just have to-” He then pulled you in for a long awaited kiss.

“Looks like he’s going to mark her.” Stiles muttered to the two ladies.

At eighteen you form a telepathic connection with your soulmate.

At the age of eighteen, everyone hears their soulmate’s thoughts for the first time. It’s a simple connection that helps you find the other person, or at least figure out who the person is if you already happen to know them. It’s something that everyone waits with baited breath for; finding out who they’re destined to spend their life with. It doesn’t happen immediately on your eighteenth birthday of course, but somewhere within your eighteenth year. You remember when your cousin first heard her soulmate’s voice; she had been visiting at your house and halfway through dinner she gasped and dropped her fork. Your mom worriedly reached a hand out and asked if she was okay, and your cousin just looked up with a smile and tears in her eyes.

You turned eighteen a few months ago and so far it’d just been silence. You were getting a little antsy, but you knew that it’d happen soon enough. Maybe not this soon, though. You were trying your hardest to go over your notes for a big exam the next morning. It was almost midnight and you just couldn’t get the information down. Your own scribbled handwriting was glaring up at you, and you felt hatred for the lines of purple ink on the page. Why couldn’t you have done a better job at getting down the information from class? You wanted to scream, but you also didn’t want to wake up everyone within a 50-mile radius, so you tried your best to keep the scream on the inside. It turns out that someone had heard you even still, though.

“Nǐ hái hǎo ma?” a small voice asked somewhere in the back of your mind. Your eyes popped open and you sat up straight. Could that really have been what you thought it was? Was that…your soulmate? You focused as hard as you could to try and reach out into the spirit-net and say something back.

“Hello? Are you there?” you all but whispered to yourself, thinking it as hard as possible.

“Ó, wǒ de shàngdì” the low voice replied. Oh, well, shit. Okay. Yep. Definitely your soulmate. And that definitely was not a language you understood.

“Do you know English?” you asked him carefully. There was a long period of silence. You bit your lip and fiddled with the pen in your hands as you waited for him to say anything. The second hand moved all the way around the clock on your wall three times before you heard him reply.

“He…llo. My…name is Junhui.” the voice struggled to say. “I speak…no English, I live from China.” Oh god. Your soulmate was Chinese. You could feel your heart beat a mile a minute in your chest. This was going to make things a lot harder. God, what did you know how to say in Chinese? You knew how to say hello in Mandarin. You prayed he didn’t speak exclusively Cantonese, because then you’d be screwed.

“Nǐ hǎo, Junhui” you thought back to him, quickly grabbing your phone to get to google translate something as fast as possible. Your fingers flew across the keyboard, and you tried your best to read the romanization of the complex characters that popped up. “Wǒ de…míngzì shì…Y/N. Wǒ bù shuō…….zhōngwén” (My name is Y/N. I don’t speak Chinese). You hoped that had been understandable.

You stayed up way too late that night having completely forgotten about the exam you needed to be studying for, but instead having a slow, broken conversation with Jun through clunky google translated phrases. You learned that he liked acting, singing, and martial arts. You tried your best to tell him about yourself, but you eventually fell asleep as the sun began peeking through your window.

You got a less than stellar grade on the exam the next morning, but you’re not even phased as you race to the bookstore to buy as many beginner’s Chinese textbooks as you could afford. You spent the next year studying as much as you could, and Jun was doing the same thing with English. You loved hearing him excitedly thinking about a new English phrase he had learned that day. You managed to grow close with one another; mentally, of course. You still lived in totally different countries, but that would change soon. After a long year of sharing thoughts, dreams, and songs stuck in your head with each other, you finally were able to communicate well enough to set up a meeting.

You twiddled your thumbs at the airport, waiting in front of the arrival gate and trying to remember to breathe. He had gotten a direct flight from the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, meaning he’d be pretty tired. You didn’t want to overwhelm him, but you were also dying to meet him. You looked through the crowd of people walking towards the baggage claim, scanning each face worriedly.

“Where are you?” you thought to him, shifting your weight from foot to foot anxiously.

“Turn around.” you heard much louder and clearer than usual. You whipped your head around, and there he was. Tall, golden, and beautiful; your Jun. His mop of dark hair was swooped to the side, and he was wearing a big sweatshirt that spanned over his broad shoulders. You couldn’t believe your eyes. After all this time he was right there and you couldn’t even process it. He seemed to be drinking the sight of you in just as deeply, and the rest of the world seemed to fade away to the two of you.

“Wow,” somebody thought. You weren’t entirely sure which one of you had thought it, but it represented your feelings just the same. You finally broke out of it, throwing your arms around him.

“Zuìhòu,” you whispered into the soft material of his hoodie. He hummed into your hair, gripping you just as tight.

“Mmhmm. At last.” he murmured back. The sound of his voice was so much more satisfying than the sound of this thoughts. It sounded deep, warm, and so much like home.

“Aro, I have someone I’d like you to meet.” Alec pulled you along behind him.

Aro’s crimson eyes looked up from the novel he was reading, focusing on you. You felt naked under his stare, something about him making you uncomfortable.

His lips stretched into a smile that sent shivers down your spine. He stood up and handed his book to a young woman who was standing next to his chair, waving her away.

“Who’s this, Alec?” He came down the stairs and slowly approached you.

“This is (Y/N).” He placed his hand on your back and guided you closer towards Aro.

“(Y/N)…” He repeated, his eyes scanning over you. “And where did you meet her, Alec?”

“I went out a few months ago to go hunting and on the way back I found her bleeding in the street. She doesn’t know who it was that bit her, but they left her for dead.”

“How terrible. We at least have the decency to finish off our victims.” His eyes flashed to yours, and he must have noticed the hurt you felt from his insensitive comment. He noticed because he grabbed your hands and pulled you towards him. “I’m sorry, dear, how rude of me. Would you mind if I read your past?”

You looked over at Alec, not understanding what Aro meant.

“If he touches your skin, he can see all of the thoughts you’ve ever had and things from your memory.”

You looked back to him in uncertainty, but nodded anyways.

That awful grin spread across his face as he removed his gloves, his hands finding yours again. He stared deep into your eyes and it took all you had not to look away. “My, my…” He whispered after a moment. Your hands fell limp by your sides once he released them. “Thank you. You seem to be an interesting girl.” He turned to Alec. “Have you introduced her to Jane?”

He nodded. “Of course. Although I don’t think she’s been very kind to her.”

“Oh?” Aro tilted his head.

“I haven’t been very kind to whom?” A feminine voice seemed to echo in the large room. The beautiful blonde walked to the center where you were standing with the two men, her heels clicking against the marble floor.

“I’m just telling him the truth, Jane.” Her eyes burned in jealousy as he spoke.

“We want you to accept this sweet girl.” Aro told her, and she seemed to fume even more at his comment.

Her deep red eyes met yours and fear flashed through you. Her threatening gaze held yours and you soon felt a dull ache course through your body. Your breathing escalated and the ache grew into the worst pain you had ever felt. You collapsed onto the floor and your screams filled the air. Alec held you in his arms as he yelled at Jane to stop. You still focused on her eyes as you heard Aro commanding her to stop and Alec continued to yell.

Finally her stare became aloof instead of intense, and the pain stopped. She simply looked at Aro and turned around, heading back through the heavy wooden doors.

“I’m so sorry, (Y/N).” Alec held your cheek and you looked up at him.

You were sitting in one of the chambers as Alec had to tend to some business with other members of the Volturi. As you sat alone, all you could think about was how terrifying your mate’s twin sister was. Even though you cared greatly for Alec, you knew you could not live a life in fear of his jealous sister. She was a more experienced vampire than you and you could end your life easily.

You took a deep breath and quickly slipped out into the night.

You sat and watched Jasper and Emmett with a smile on your face. They were joking around and Emmett sang at the top of his lungs as he flipped a couple of steaks on the grill. You were so lucky to have found them after you escaped from Italy. Their mother figure, Esme, took you into their home in a heartbeat and you would forever be grateful for them. Of course you missed Alec, but this was a better life. A life that didn’t involve you being abused and fearing for your life.

“So why are we cooking again?”

“Edward’s father-in-law, a human by the way, is coming to visit. Gotta play the part.” Jasper smirked at you.

“(Y/N)?”

Your body suddenly went rigid upon hearing the voice. Jasper and Emmett looked shocked as they stared at the boy standing behind you.

You slowly turned around and met the familiar eyes of Alec. He looked surprised when he saw that your eyes were no longer red like his, they were gold.

“Oh my god.” You hopped off of the bar stool and hugged him tightly. “I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry.”

“Uhh (Y/N)? Please explain why one of them are here.” Emmett rolled up his sleeves to show that he would be ready to fight if anything happened.

“I never told you why I came here. I was living with Alec’s coven but…I ran away…” You trailed off.

“Why? What did they do to you?” Jasper growled and stepped around the counter but you held up your hand.

“My sister hurt her. Which is something I never intend on doing.” He looked down at you and you melted from his words.

“Alec…I can’t go back with you.” You looked down, feeling ashamed.

“Why? Are you with one of them?” He looked at the two vampires in jealousy.

Emmett smirked and Jasper’s face softened as he laughed at his accusation.

“No, no. They already have mates. I meant I can’t go back because of her. I’m afraid she’ll kill me.”

He looked at you sadly. “I figured that’s why you disappeared. So I told her if she didn’t want you there then I would leave too.”

This surprised you because you knew the two of them were very close. You didn’t quite know how to respond so you waited for him to go on.

“If you don’t want to go back, then I’ll go with you…anywhere.”

“I’m not sure, Alec. The Cullens have taken great care of me. I’d feel guilty just leaving them behind.” You frowned.

“Then we’ll stay in the area.” He grabbed your hand and gave it a squeeze. “(Y/N)…I will do whatever it takes to be with you. If you want to stay here, I’ll stay and just go visit my family when I feel like it. Just please don’t tell me to leave.”

You smiled and hugged him again, pulling back to kiss him sweetly. After a moment, Emmett cleared his throat and you backed away, blushing.

“We’ll be watching you, kid.” Jasper looked at Alec seriously but winked at you.

I hope there weren’t any mistakes because I didn’t have time to proofread because I have class. Oops
