Newest export from Sweden would be these lovely girls. I couldn’t remember at first where I had seen them before, then I recalled them opening for Robyn when I saw her live in London last year at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Epic DJ set, followed by the amazing Robyn herself. Really excited that I actually saw these girls live, and now they seem to be doing really well (on the blogosphere that is). Check out the track, it’s quintessential Scandipop. When can I move to Stockholm again?
I won’t change and I won’t adapt. I won’t be standing in Allsång På Skansen in a costume just because Måns does, ha ha ha! I’ll be myself and I’ll dress how I dress and I’ll look how I look and I’ll say what I say. I’ve always been like that, I’ve grown up like that. It’s from my Father I think!
Such an amazing song I don’t know where to start. How about the slinky lyric delivery in the first verse? Or the undeniably catchy chorus? The overlaying textures make it almost sound like a children’s choir singing. These two girls are (also) the next big thing to come out of Sweden. Remember when when it was all about the Swedish duo boy bands? Sound of Arrows, The Similou, LCTRISC? Well I’m guessing the ladies are taking the step up and showing what they’ve got, and I gotta tell ya, I love it. At the moment they’re on Popjustice’s Chart Almighty at a comfortable Number 1. Let’s see what else they’ve got to offer in 2012!
This is a really good example of perfect pop. Brought to you by Donkeyboy from Norway, their song City Boy shot to the the top of the Norwegian charts and with good reason. It is soulful and electronically and aurally beautiful. It is upbeat and makes my heart kind of sing. They have calibre for this thing. Their ‘Ambitions’, which was later covered by Joe McElderry and nominated for a PopJustice 20 Quid Prize, is as beautiful. The video is fun too.
What a treat. We can’t imagine a better way to kick off the week than waking up to a completely unexpected new Le Kid single, which is every bit as pop friendly and ‘80s tinted as we’ve come to expect from them. 2012 is off to a great start!
