Lampades, the nymphs of the Underworld; these nymphs serve both Persephone and Hecate, powerful goddesses, as ladies in waiting and torchbearers. Their skin and eyes glimmer like a candle's flame, colored a brilliant, heady orange or as dark as coal; their smiles are blinding and their laugh is like the crackle of a flame.
Alseides, the nymphs of glens; Taurean nymphs reside in meadows and groves, basking in the sunshine, walking with the deer and caring for the plants and animals; their skin is always rosy and sun-kissed and it shimmers like gold and smattered with the same soft pattern as a doe, and eyes like a doe's as well, thick hair braided intricately and decorated with flowers.
Aurae, nymphs of the breeze; Gemini nymphs drift through the air, playing with human's hair and dancing through the leaves. Their skin is a soft, silvery blue, smooth as the sky, only broken by the small scales scattered across their cheeks and joints, all radiant blue; their hair floats around them and their voice is like chimes.
Limnades, nymphs of lakes; these quiet nymphs drift through the murky water of lakes, playing with the fish and basking with alligators and turtles, and seducing anyone who might pass by. Their skin shimmers dully, slightly green in tint and their faces are tattooed with dark green stripes that decorate their cheeks like a trail of tears.
Anthousai, nymphs of flowers; these playful nymphs play in the forests, fields and gardens, flirting with unwitting humans and decorating themselves with flowers and plants. They smell like lilies and jasmine so butterflies flutter around their heads; their skin is patterned like irises, brilliant purples, golds and pinks, delicate like a water painting.
Hydryades, nymphs of the trees; these quiet nymphs reside within trees and forests where they care for animals. Virgoan nymphs' skin is camouflaged so that they may blend in with the trees, dark and intricate patterns which stretch across their backs and decorate their faces, eyes slitted like a reptile's.
Nephelai, nymphs of the clouds; Libran nymphs are very rarely seen by humans as they reside in the clouds; they are dreamy, quiet and peaceful creatures who fly with the birds and provide the world with rain. Their skin is like pearl which varies from the softest white to the angry grey of a storm, their eyes are as pink as the sunrise and their hair floats around them in a haze.
Naiads, nymphs of freshwater; these nymphs can be found in rivers, lakes and springs where they hunt fish and anything else that wanders too close to the water's edge. They also seduce any humans who happen upon them. Their eyes are large and dark to see underwater, their hair a messy tangle and nails long and sharp; their skin is scaled like a koi's but a brilliant silver or bronze.
Epimeliad, nymphs of apple tress and flocks; Sagittarian nymphs follow flocks and explore the world around them, playing with horses and cows and goats and seducing their owners; when they sleep they return to their original state, an apple tree. Their eyes are bright like a spark, their hair white like apple blossoms and wool and their skin is patterned like the bark of a tree.
Oreiades, nymphs of the mountains; these nymphs are highly reclusive and quiet, they reside in the most remote mountains in the world and are very rarely seen by humans. They resemble the animal of their Sign, their pupils rectangular and their eyes a sharp gold, small horns curving from their foreheads; their hair is kept in tight pleats, their skin speckled softly to blend in with the jagged rocks.
Asteriai, nymphs of the stars; these nymphs live far away in the vast expanses of space where they drift and play in complete silence: constellations are their embrace, shooting stars their tears. Their skin is as brilliant as the sun, golden, red and even deep blue, and it shimmers in an unending pulse of light.
Haliae, nymphs of the sea; Piscean nymphs reside in the sea and can occasionally be spotted dancing on the seashore. Their hair reaches their ankles, strands of pearls and shells woven within it; their skin has a pearlescent sheen from years spent in the water and small scales, pink and pearl-like, decorate their webbed hands and creep up their legs.
Hello! I was wandering: can you show me how you draw those beautiful claws from diffrent angles and stuff?? I been dying to know... :)
Im going to assume you mean deathclaws bc if not, @helmip has a far greater understanding of claws themselves and lil tutorials from a while back (and many things tbh, theyre great. as you well know lmao) but i digress seeing how any creature works in a 3D space helps immensely - I’ve had to take a huge amount of screenshots and videos, done a bunch of lil studies, etc. to the point where I no longer need to reference them, I know what features go where. and of course, hyperanalyzing it for the sake of cosplay accuracy doesn’t go amiss either (the cosplay wasnt that accurate but the face scales are alright)
that being said, I’ve been drawing deathclaws wrong all this time bc I gave them a dip in their brow, when they’re actually a Fierce Rhombus
Note how scale placement and skin folds work! The hard scales around the eyes sweep out from the front corner of the eye, and then curve upward around the cheek. There’s also another line of scales that follows the curve of the teeth. This is all actually a pretty signature thing that Jonah does on his reptilian critters, it’s present on the Skyrim dragons too. Front view is very angular and straightforward; everything sweeps up and back.
figuring out where hard and soft tissue goes also helps with expressiveness but the hardest part is THEY DONT HAVE LIPS. any mouth expression would have to move their entire teeth which is fine if you know what you’re doing re:stylization. Different angles help if you convert the entire head structure into a Large Block
and their body is just a regular ol Fantasy Lizard Dragon Thing with a big tail (I like to give my ‘claws an extra fat tail so they look well fed and happy)
Other than the plated scales, tough leathery skin, frilled head, horned skull anatomy and sinuous tail, mythological and folkloric dragons have very little in common anatomically with actual reptiles. They have MORE in common with the Felidae genus (cat family) and the Aves Phylum Chordata (bird classification).
Like a cat’s eye, a dragon’s eye has a comparatively large iris with a vertical pupil. This arrangement allows the pupil to open extremely wide and receive more light than that of a human eye.
A dragon’s legs are also decidedly nonreptilian, despite the scaly coverings. A dragon’s legs are positioned more or less directly under its body, in the manner of mammals. (Most reptiles’ legs tend to splay out to the sides, offering much less support and mobility than a mammal).
Lasly, a dragon’s four feet very closely resemble those of a great bird. Each foot has three or four clawed toes facing forward (the number varies, even among dragons of the same kind), plus an additional toe, also with a claw, set farther back on the foot and facing slightly inward toward the dragon’s body, like a human’s thumb.
A dragon’s resemblance to a reptile is literally only skin deep So the next time someone you know refers to mythical dragons as giant lizards, you’ll have the know-what to save a life.
a vibrant and beautiful creature, Arian mermaids reside in shallow, brackish water such as lagoons, sometimes playing tricks on nearby humans or even drawing ships to their doom with siren calls, their tails are a deep, blood red, marked with unclean, black stripes and fins that unfurl like fans at the end of their tail and its sides, as sharp and dangerous as their teeth, delicate webbing between their fingers
these laid back beauties stick to mangroves and slow moving water, they decorate their bodies with the wonders of the sea: pearls, shells, and even the ocean life itself, allowing starfish to stick to their tails, they avoid others but will save many sailors from drowning, their scales are as golden as the sun, their fins strong yet tapered delicately
these mermaids are often found in the middle of the sea, playing with dolphins or even whales, they often tease sailors and flirt with them relentlessly, their tails are particularly long and strong, scales so small they are indistinct though they creep up Gemini's stomach, their fins are awe inspiring shaped like wings at their back and trailing in a swirl behind them, a radiant blue and white like the surf
these mer make their homes in coral reefs, curled up with eels and using clams as pillows, they protect the reefs from boats and fishermen, they hoard pearls and all other treasure they find, their skin and scales are almost translucent, resembling mother of pearl, and emit a soft light similar to the moon, yet their scales are hard like shell and their nails and teeth must be sharp to defend themselves and the reef
these mermaids are brazen, they often approach populated beaches, drawn by the laughter of the children they love to play with and often save from drowning, they decorate themselves with the treasures of the sea, braiding pearls and shells into their hair, wrapping beautiful plants around their waists, their tails are like sunlight, their eyes sharp and golden, and their fins almost heart-shaped
these reclusive mermaids live in freshwater rivers where they hunt fish and play in the current, they clean the rivers of trash and help animals survive, algae creeps up their tails and their skin is splattered with markings similar to the pebbled riverbed, their tails are almost rough like an alligator's back and this skin creeps up their spines as well, colored a similar dark green
more siren than mer, these gorgeous beings often steal sailors away, seducing them with first their elegant voices and then their eyes as bright as the sky, they don't realize that they are harming the sailors, only taking them to a better place, Libran mermaids are like wisps of mist, airy and light, tails shiny and a gentle blue, fins delicate and wispy
no human has ever seen a Scorpio mermaid, they remain deep beneath the sea where few have ever reached, where no light touches, reclusive and secretive, their scales are as dark as the night but their skin is patterned with intricate swirls which emit a hazy, purple glow just as their eyes do, their tails are as lithe as an eel and finned in a similar manner
who knows where you will spot this mermaid, they travel all over the world, from freshwater to the deepest depths of the ocean, constantly exploring and seeking out other mermaids and people alike, their scales are scattered across their body, the color of the sunrise, and their fins are a brilliant fan, ombre and almost ruffled as it creeps up their tail in layers
reclusive and quiet, these mer stay in deep water, very rarely coming to the surface, they are predators but do not attack humans as other mermaids do because they wish to be left alone, their tail is not scaled, rather more similar to a shark's flesh, a deep color that wavers between purple and blue, their fins hard and sharp, all lean muscle and dark eyes
these mermaids often hang around heavily populated beaches and even ports, curious about human beings and their technology, they often make friends with humans and visit them regularly, when not amongst humans they are exploring the ocean, their tales are a deep, regal purple, their hair long and tangled, a very similar color, and they decorate their bodies with strange items they find in the water
these little mermaids are mostly reclusive but very curious about humans, they live in lagoons or among the mangroves, quiet and never imposing, they keep the animals safe and use their magic to keep the water clean, their scales are a deep magenta that glimmers in the light, fins as long as their hair, at their jaw rests a pair of fan-like fins that they use to scare away predators
Stiles has been in his new home of Beacon Hills for a grand total of one week when his Jeep breaks down on the side of the road after business hours. Lucky for him, Hale’s Garage keeps long hours, and the owner is willing to give Stiles a hand, and then a whole lot more.
Essentially 6k of bottom Derek fluff, with a pinch of background angst for flavor.
Americans: we’re gonna use Fahrenheit where 0 degrees is really cold and 100 degrees is really hot so 40-60 degrees is okay weather. It’s just like we’re counting up from 0 to 100 and the closer we get to 100 the warmer/hotter the weather.
Rest of the world: wtf??? Americans are so dumb that makes no sense??? 0 degrees is okay weather and 100 degrees means you’re dead!! Dumb Americans with their counting up from 0 method how ignorant and stupid they all are lets constantly post about it
Hey I'm looking for a highschool fic where Stiles tutors Derek and they start a fuck buddy relationship but Stiles assumes Derek does this kind of this often with other people . I don't remember much except them studying in Derek's room and drinking soda .
This sounds kind of familiar but we can’t seem to pinpoint exactly which fic it is. Any help dear followers?
The gold kelp dragons dwelt in the murky freshwater lakes in the east. They preferred the cold water and rarely adopted human form. When the ashblack dragons sought to unite the clans in the east, the golden lakedragons sank into the water and into a wet oblivion. Their natural ability to shift from scales to skin was gradually lost over time. The lakedragons had lost their way and became no more than beasts in the cold water.
Yet one lakedragon had not completely forgotten his sense of self. Demetrius still dreamed of the world above the slumbering sea. He would rise dangerously close to the surface, seeking the fat fish which fed on the rays of the forbidden sun. It was on one such hunt he finally surfaced, and became the first lakedragon to breach the water walls in decades. As Demetrius frolicked, others soon became aware through the native cranes that still fed at the great lakes that the lakedragons were making a return to the waking world.
