We’re in need of a new admin!!

BYUNBAEK-NET is looking for a new admin. Not that there’s anything wrong with the old admins, but we got school and work which makes maintaining the network a little hard at times, so we need another one to keep this blog alive!

What does being admin of BYUNBAEK-NET mean exactly?
You accept people in to the network when we get members applying to join! We never decline, but we do remind those who hasn’t followed/reblogged the member application yet to do it shortly, we’re not that strict. - I’ll go further in detail on this later. Also answering asks the network blog get.

You add people in to the LINE chat! (If you have LINE that is, it’s not obligated)

You reblog members creations from the #byunbaeknet tag to the blog. You either reblog as they show up in the tag, or make a queue with the posts.

Help maintaining the blog, updating the updates tab with actual updates, etc. If you have an idea for a nice layout then you’re welcome to share your ideas with the other admins. It’s always nice to change up the theme once in a while.

That’s really it! You’re fully welcome to come with idea to projects for this network as well! Such as the birthday/anniversary project we had earlier this year.

There’s other stuff such as making sure people follow rules and such. We don’t have many, but we do have a few just to make stuff a little bit organized.

How do you apply as admin?

Submit a nice little text about yourself to the network blog HERE (ignore the member app guideline), just tell us why you want to become admin and that’s it. We’ll choose just one person this time around. The criteria is that you MUST be a member of the network, and Baekhyun should be your bias or ATLEAST in your top #3. Not to mention you need to be ACTIVE. - I’ll choose the new admin by Monday, August 21st-ish. Please reblog to help spread the word, and do apply if this sounds interesting! ^^

- Admin Ida-Eveline.

BtVS S8 - You Wanna End this “Twilight” Crap Once For All?

Spikes arrives with his ship to save the day – what an entrance! He has the answer for everything, and one wonders how he’s gottten it…

When Spike gets back to Earth (after his encounter with Wolfham & Hart’s Senior Partners, see Spike, The Complete Series), he finds a changed world: Buffy and the Slayers are considered terrorists, Harmony is a celebrity, and there’s a sect with an already huge following, whose leader is called Twilight – who Spike recognizes (looking at a photo on his laptop…) as Angel.

It takes Spike “some time and a lot of favors to piece it together”, as well as some time to find Buffy – certainly – because she and her army of Slayers have been hiding since they were declared “terrorists” (remember, Twilight only found them in Scotland and in Tibet with the help of a sophisticated equipment and Amy’s magic); so, when he arrives, unfortunately Twilight (the new Universe) has already happened:

And Spike’s figured it all out because he can speak Fyarl…

But that doesn’t expl-

1. BtVS S8 - Twilight The Final Chapter: The Power of Love(Brad Meltzer/Georges Jeanty)

2. BtVS S8 - Last Gleaming Part One (Joss Whedon/Scott Allie/Georges Jeanty)

3. BtVS S8 - Last Gleaming Part Two (Joss Whedon/Scott Allie/Georges Jeanty)

HOOO BOY I didn’t think I would have to do this in this nearly 3 years down the line, but my inbox has become a hellish wasteland due to misinformation so I’m gonna be as blunt as possible here: I don’t ship Makorra and I haven’t since the show ended.  Personally it’s just… not My Jam anymore. It hasn’t been for a while. But that’s not the point of this post.

An old post of mine started going around claiming that my opinion regarding fandom toxicity is invalid because “I’m a 24 year old makorra shipper who’s still bitter about korrasami”. I touched base with the person who left the comment asap to try to figure out what was going on & they told me they had me confused with another blogger. They retracted the statement immediately

but the damage had already been done. The version of the post with the “callout” is still circulating.

Look, if this was true and if on top of that I was in fact spreading any kind of hatred or making shitty posts that offended people, I would take this criticism to heart and work to actively change what I was doing. I want and have always wanted this blog to be a safe and comfortable space for anyone and everyone.

But. Honestly. I refuse to go down because of a case of mistaken identity. This is ridiculous, guys.

If you have to call someone out, please try to do a little research. Misinformation can be harmful.

Boi, can you believe it’s already been a whole year since Horikoshi saved my life

theories abt zarkon

Can’t wait for these theories to get smashed within the first 10 seconds of season 3.

Theory 1: Zarkon was always a bit of a douche, so it’s no surprise that he turned power-hungry after he became the leader of the most powerful weapon in the universe.

  • Angst level: Minimum
  • A very basic backstory, to the point that it’s kind of boring and predictable.
  • Easy enough to be established in an episode or two. Probably told during a monologue on Zarkon’s part, or through some impassioned speech given by Allura/Coran.

Theory 2: Zarkon started out as a good guy and a great leader, but was eventually corrupted by some outside force, turning him into the villain he is today.

  • Angst level: Moderate
  • A tragic backstory, ala Anakin Skywalker tropes. The chosen one is ripped down from his pedestal by the forces of evil, who intend for him to become their tool but are instead completely blindsided by just how Evil And Powerful the hero is once he sheds his morals/conscience.
    • Alfor: You were the Black Paladin, Zarkon! It was said that you would destroy evil, not join them! To lead Voltron, not gut it!
    • Zarkon: You are weak, Alfor, and Altea will burn with you!
    • Alfor: You were my brother, Zarkon. I loved you.
  • Fairly easy to establish in the show. A lot of the plot would probably be given to the audience by Coran (who would have been there) and possibly Allura, depending on how old she was at the time. There would definitely be a lot of flashbacks to the days of old, when the last Paladins were in their prime. A bittersweet montage; reminiscing about the golden days, and ignoring the ruin that followed.

Theory 3: Zarkon was a genuinely amazing guy who loved his teammates like family and prioritized their well-being miles before his own. He was a man who valued strength, but only so that the weak could be protected. He was a hero because he was so real; he bled with planets, he bled for planets, for strangers he’d never meet, for the teammates he saw every day. And people loved him, for being so close. But he wasn’t untouchable, and that love drove him to the extremes.

As he served Voltron and the universe, he bore witness to the worst of the worst. Voltron, after all, exists to play damage control, and not all disasters are natural. Zarkon fought evil, stared it straight in the eye, and watched them fall from the perch he pushed them off, and he thought to himself: I can do that better.

Zarkon looked at the universe and he did not see it as something to be conquered; rather, he looked and saw a hydra. Because for every tyrant Voltron overthrew, every planet they brought back from the brink, there were always more people to save. And inevitably, more people they failed.

The paladins weren’t saving the universe; they were simply racing to play catch-up. They weren’t making a difference, they weren’t changing anything. They went on their missions, they fought and protected each other, and sometimes an empty lion came home. And Zarkon loved his family.

Alfor spoke of freedom for the universe; Zarkon thought of chaos growing in the absence of order. Alfor said he was proposing tyranny, dictatorship, everything Voltron stood against. Zarkon argued that control was the only way to ensure peace. That this way, everyone could live. No more broken families.

Alfor told him that Voltron was a weapon, not a god. That they couldn’t save everyone. And Zarkon said, That’s not good enough.

I can do that better.

I can protect the universe.

And instead he destroyed it.

i would just like to gently remind anyone following the situation in manchester to be careful which news outlets you use, because a lot of them inflate figures, jump to conclusions and try to frighten people. some are outright xenophobic, racist and islamophobic, or report news in a way that encourages this way of thinking. the bbc website tends to give pretty reliable figures and reports information relatively impartially (please be critical of websites such as the daily mail)

the uk is in such a fragile state right now and we really don’t need people using this horrible attack as a justification for their racism and islamophobia.

that’s all.
