save menu

Determination is yellow

(undertale spoilers)

Determination is “the will to keep living… the resolve to change fate.” It’s the power that gives human souls “the strength to persist after death.” It is so powerful that it brought Flowey to life and gave him the power to control the underground’s timeline.

Because many people believe the red soul represents determination, some players associate determination with the color red. Many also incorrectly cite that determination is written in red in the genocide route. This is false.

Determination isn’t unique to the red soul. It is found in all human souls, and there is evidence that all of the fallen humans had the power to save, load, and reset. Furthermore, there is a strong link between determination and yellow – the save point.

In Entry Number 5, the word “Determination” is in yellow (and contrary to popular belief, “Determination” is never written in red). The lab entry is written by Alphys, so she would know the color of the determination she extracted from the souls. While it is not the exact same color as the save point, it is extremely close. Closer than the other yellows found in the game, such as the golden flowers. Coincidentally, Flowey is also the same color yellow as the save point. It’s possible he became this brighter yellow after being injected with determination.

However, the most conclusive evidence is from the Undertale Demo’s instruction pages – specifically the TITLE SCREEN page.

The save point is literally “the manifestation of your own DETERMINATION.” While these instructions are not included in the official release of Undertale, the statement makes sense. Determination is the source of the power to SAVE and CONTINUE/LOAD. It also ties in nicely with the facts that the color yellow is used for selection in the main menu and the save menu turns yellow on a successful save.

Ultimately, there is more evidence that determination is the color yellow rather than red.

Important Note: Please keep in mind that the color of determination is separate from the human soul traits and colors. The yellow soul has the trait Justice, and this analysis does not change that. What this analysis provides is a more appropriate color for the physical component found in all souls – determination – and this disregards it as a trait for the red soul. For those interested in what the red soul’s trait is, please read our theory, the red soul.

Things Bioware need to fix in Mass Effect Andromeda: SPOILER FREE!!

Hey guys. I’ve been playing the game since release and I’ve decided to write a list of all the things I think Bioware should improve upon in future Mass Effect: Andromeda updates. These are things that I think are reasonable that Bioware could improve upon that aren’t super intensive like changes to story or anything like that. I think the game is great and I’m loving it, it just needs some work to bring it up to standard.

- Add the ability to change complexion, brows, eye shape, nose shape, mouth shape.
- Add more skin tones.
- Add more detail to the eye textures. Characters with paler eyes look fake or scared. Inquisition did this really well so I’m not sure why it didn’t translate.
- The same for hair colours, the dyed ones are too fake looking and its alarming seeing it on npcs as well. Colour wheel for hair suggested by neednerdiness (link to come when i know what I’m doing lol)
- If custom Ryder is selected, Alec’s appearance should also be adjustable (ability to change his features or select default Alec). If not, Alec’s features should change depending on the changes the player makes to Ryder, not on what the preset looks like before changes.
- Change the opacity slider for makeup (to go darker) and add one for tattoos.
(And less likely but add more variation in tattoos and make-up instead of just the geometric/tribal ones.)
- Have unique hairstyles separate from npc hairstyles. This is one Bethesda are at fault for as well, its really disappointing and quite frankly very lazy.
- This ones just for me. I need more outfits, I need a dress! Please Bioware make it happen, I will pay for more clothes.
- The ability to change your appearance!!!! This is so important, it doesn’t have to be canon, it could be a final confirmation like in Fallout 4, or something like the Black Emporium dlc.

- Shorten travel times when viewing planets in a solar system. This does conflict with the real time view you see from the windows on the Tempest but I doubt many people leave the galaxy map when just scanning planets. It is tedious having to wait to arrive at each planet. They could do this by having a quick select for the nexus, aya and outpost planets.
- When returning to the Tempest it should remain on the planet/Nexus/etc until you select a new location on the galaxy map. This is so emails and crew can be checked for any new quests at that location and you don’t have to leave the planet and fly straight back.
- Party banter (and any other dialogue when travelling) frequently gets cut off when other dialogue is triggered to play. This needs to be changed so that one plays after the other to avoid overlapping or missing the first conversation altogether. Uncharted 4 does this really well.
- Every time you open the mining interface, SAM repeats the same dialogue about how you can mine in that area. Its annoying and unnecessary.
- When accepting rewards at the AVP Status Control, multiple awards should be condensed into one menu to save time.
- More skills for your squad! I’m on my first playthrough at 78% completion and my squad are maxed out.
- More Nexus levels! I’m at lvl 20 with -1,666 A.V.P. It would be great if I could unlock the rest of the pods.
- Remove already selected topics from the dialogue wheel. Suggested by stepp3nwolf.
- Better organisation of completed quests.
- Clearer way to compare armor and weapon stats to the ones currently equipped. Suggested by n7biotic.

- Asari faces need more variation, currently it seems they all have the same face model as Lexi. Suggested by citadelsavior.
- The ability to skip the opening cutscenes.

I’ll be frequently updating this!

tutorial: how to get rid of transparent borders around gifs

if your gifs appear to have these pesky borders around them (most noticeable in dark gifs), you can get rid of them by changing your default color blend mode. the borders do not depend on the way you crop your gifs, but rather the color photoshop uses to blend transparent pixels.

WARNING! Mystic Messenger has encountered a bug which causes an endless loading screen and continuous hourglasses to be added with each failed attempt to access this exact screen. Please cease trying to access it until cheritz has time to fix the bug and update the game. If you’ve accidentally opened and closed the game multiple times already that’s okay, simply save in the option menu on the main screen when you first open the game and close it until cheritz is able to fix the bug. As long as you stay out of the “original story” you should be fine

EDIT: cheritz has begun work on fixing the bug.
Check out their page

The bug has been mostly resolved, however everyone I urge you to PLEASE not touch any extra gifts you may have accidentally received during the bug as cheritz will be collecting all of the hearts and hourglasses in time. If you abuse the unearned gifts they might have to take action against your account so please don’t go spending all of it. Everything should be completely cleared up soon enough! Everyone stay patient and thank you to cheritz for all your hard work clearing this up so quickly!
The Sims 4: New Game Patch (May 25th, 2017)

Update: 05/25/2017 – PC Version / Mac Version

Hello Simmers,

Welcome to the base game release for Parenthood! Which is all about those quiet family moments. Taking time to enjoy when things settle down. When all becomes quiet, and you can just take it all in, reflecting upon life…, wait sorry. That’s like 20-30 years after parenthood begins (results may vary).

I meant to say, this is a hectic time. A time of crazy, noise filled chaos, where the concept of quiet exists for only 3 hours between 2 and 5 am. And where tension is worn like a badge of honor! So wear yours with pride, and let’s start with just a little bit of what’s new in this release…

georgewoshington  asked:

Funny thing I noticed actually! The SAVE point is under whichever name you give Chara. How is it Frisk's if it's apparently "Chara's" savepoint? Just something to ponder on

(undertale spoilers)

The save points, menu, and battle interface are for the player’s use. These are the only locations Chara’s name is seen that is not spoken by Flowey. If the narrator Chara theory is used to explain this, then Chara is the one presenting their own name instead of Frisk. There is no reason as to why this would be the case, however, so this explanation is unlikely. The more reasonable explanation is that Chara’s name is shown because that is the name entered by the player.

A player with no previous knowledge of Undertale would expect the name they entered to appear in the interfaces. It’s also accurate to say that the save points belong to the player, just as much as they belong to Frisk. This allows Frisk’s name to be kept a secret until the end of the pacifist route.

Between the two fallen humans, the save point belongs to Frisk, not Chara. As Chara states in the genocide route, their determination was “not mine, but YOURS.” This is important because the save point is the “manifestation of your own DETERMINATION.”

anonymous asked:

a baker or chef au with yoo seonho please!!

- you’re a chef who works in an old family restaurant and you work alongside two other chefs, guanlin and minhyun, and waiter daehwi
- the restaurant is really popular, but a new restaurant that serves the same type of food as you suddenly opens up a few blocks away and practically steals all your customers….
- you didn’t think it was so bad at first, but as the number of customers continues to decrease, you felt like you had to act immediately
- minhyun asks “why don’t you hire a baker?? i think it’d be good to add desserts to the menu”
- and daehwi adds “yeah!! but not only that, why don’t we add new things to the menu and replace the ones that hardly sell with something completely new??”
- guanlin says “i think that would catch people’s attention…. and we can have a fresh start”
- you give it some thought, and it’s when you pass by and see your rival restaurant filled with people do you finally decide to put up a “HIRING” sign
- you interview a bunch of people, but they just don’t impress you….. or some go way over the top like that one minki boy who decided to bake a fricking wedding cake wtf
- but then you meet yoo seonho
- he presents himself as a chick baker, as he’s only been baking for no more than six months
- seonho tells you “i know i’m lacking, but i’m a fast learner, and i promise i’ll work hard!!” and you think hmm ok let’s put him to the test
- so you tell him to make you any dessert he chooses and after a good hour, he comes back to the table and presents you a dessert you’ve never seen before
- you ask “what’s this? i don’t think i’ve had it before” and he exclaims “it’s because it’s my own recipe!!”
- you think he’s brave for presenting this to you and to be honest you doubt him a little, but when you taste it….. it’s DELICIOUS
- seonho gets hired on the spot because you can’t wait to see what else he has in store for you
- you introduce him to guanlin, minhyun and daehwi and you’re surprised by how fast he got along with them….. it’s like they’ve known each other forever and watching them interact is so refreshing
- you decide to close the restaurant for the time being and plan to make a grand re-opening to surprise your customers
- while closed, you, guanlin and minhyun work together to create a new menu while seonho comes up with unique desserts to add to it
- seonho likes to stay a little longer after work because he gets most of his ideas near the end of the day
- you walk up to him, who’s busy writing down the ingredients he used for the cake he just made, and you casually swipe a bit of frosting on your finger
- seonho says “hey!! it’s not done yet, you can’t eat that!!” and you say “ohhh i can’t? alright then, take it back!!” and you proceed to wipe it on his cheek
- seonho’s mouth falls open and you laugh at his shocked face
- he says “alright, if you want to play it like that…..” he swipes some frosting with his finger too and wipes it across your forehead, and this time, you’re the one who’s shocked
- his cake gets ruined because of your little cake war, and before you know it, you’re both laughing hysterically, covered in frosting, flour and matcha powder
- when your laughs die down, you didn’t realize just how close you’re standing….. and it doesn’t help that seonho has his hands wrapped tightly around your wrists to stop your from wiping your frosting-coated hands on his face
- you think….. just a bit closer….. and…..
- the door suddenly swings open and daehwi exclaims “SORRY I LEFT MY KEYS HERE—oh. was i interrupting something?”
- you and seonho jump a meter away from each other and say “what??? no we were just having a cake war ahahah don’t worry ahahah” and daehwi’s like “oookay right”
- you tell seonho that it’s probably time you both get home, and the rest of the evening is spent cleaning up the kitchen (and you really hope that he can’t see your burning ears)
- you, guanlin and minhyun finish creating new meals for the menu, but seonho…. is falling behind
- he only has two desserts he’s ready to serve, which is definitely not impressive when there’s a huge sign with the words “dessert available after re-opening!!”
- dessert’s undoubtedly the most important on the menu since it’s a brand-new section and seonho… would hate to disappoint you
- the new menu’s complete within just a few days, but there hasn’t been much progress with seonho’s desserts
- you tell him “the three desserts you made are enough, don’t worry!!”
- but he says “no…. if you went out of your way to make an entire menu to save this restaurant, then i have to go out of my way to make enough desserts for you to serve.”
- opening day is finally here, and you’re surprised to find a line of people waiting outside the restaurant, excited to try the new menu
- but it doesn’t surprise you nearly as much as seeing seonho asleep on the counter next to plates of different desserts you’ve never seen before
- and you KNOW what it is, you KNOW he worked all night just for you
- seonho stirs in his sleep and when he sees you, he opens his eyes right away and grins “oh, hey!! i finally made enough desserts to add to the menu!!”
- he quickly hands you a fork and exclaims “try them!!” and when you take a bite out of each desserts, you think “they’re…. perfect”
- suddenly, you remember that the restaurant’s opening in a few minutes and seonho is in no condition to work
- in that moment, you don’t care if you’re going to get angry customers, or if you’re going to get accused of false advertising, or get hate that you made the desserts thing up to get new customers…..
- you just want seonho to be well
- you tell him “seonho, go take a rest” and he jumps back in shock and says “what?? but we have to—”
- you shake your head “i’ll make up some excuse along the way. you have to get some sleep.”
- before you could leave, seonho gets up and runs in front of you to block your path
- he says “i’m going to bake.” and you say “don’t be so stubborn!! you’re going to get sick if you over-work yourself.”
- he says “i’m perfectly fine!! i promise!!” and you’re a bit uneasy but you let him work because you know he won’t give up
- you sigh and say “alright fine….. but you stop working the second you feel unwell, got it?” and he grins and heads straight for the kitchen
- you open the doors of the restaurant and you don’t stop smiling the whole day because you haven’t seen the place this lively in so long and your grin widens when daehwi tells you the customers love the new menu
- once the day is over, you shut the doors and you tell the boys that they did a good job and that they can head home while you stay behind to clean
- but seonho of coURSE doesn’t let you stay all by yourself
- you say “seonho, how many times do i have to tell you to go get some rest??” and he says “i won’t be able to rest knowing you’re left behind to clean all this up”
- you’re both washing the dishes when you ask “why are you like this….” and seonho asks “what do you mean??”
- you say “you stayed up late just to complete the dessert menu for this restaurant….. you worked even though you’re dead tired….. and now, you’re even staying behind to help. why are you so kind?”
- seonho grins “isn’t it obvious? i just…. want to stay by your side.”
- you stop washing the dishes and look up at him and you say “well…. maybe i…. want that too.”
- and you spend the rest of the night cleaning up the restaurant….. while taking quick glances at each other every now and then with pink cheeks

thank you for your request!!

Flower Prince

Requested?: Nah :3

Words: 3.3k

Group: Wanna One

Member(s): Daehwi (feat. Somi)

You sigh as your best friend, Somi, try to convince you to go to a flower cafe for her birthday. It’s not that you are against the food, you’re just not the type to go to a place like that…somewhere pastel, cute, and filled with pretty boys. Somi mentions that a friend of hers works there and that she feels like you two would get along.

“Come on, please? It’s my birthday, your best friend’s birthday…plus, I think you and Daehwi should meet. You guys are my best buddies,” Somi pouts as you cross your arms against your chest.

“Somi, you know I wouldn’t fit into a place like that,” you reason, “I mean, just look at me! I’m wearing all black and you know how awkward I am with other people.”

“Please? Just once, for me? I promise I won’t force you to like Daehwi too. I just want my two best friends to meet.”

You sigh, there is no way anyone can deny Somi’s cute face anyway. You wave your hand and shake your head as a sign of agreement. Hopefully, you won’t regret this choice. It’s for Somi anyways, she’s always there for you so you decide that you have to repay her some way.

Somi’s birthday approached sooner than you had thought it would. You groan as you take a quick glance at your closet before flipping over in your bed so that you faced the wall instead. Just as you are about to doze off again, your door is rudely slammed open and you know exactly who it is.

“Somi…why are you here so early and how did you get in?” you groan without looking at her.

You hear her footsteps approach your window and suddenly, a beam of light shot down onto your face. You hiss at Somi who just giggles and skips over to you. She tosses the covers off your body and shakes her head. You finally open your eyes and peek at her.

You raise a brow. Somi is more dressed up than usual, but still just as pretty as she normally is. You notice that she has curled her hair and painted her nails. She has also put on some more makeup. What stood out to you, however, is the giant plastic bag she holds in her delicate hands. You dread what is inside.

“Up you go, (y/n). Your mom let me in, by the way. Also go take a shower, you kind of stink,” Somi crinkles her cute button nose and you roll your eyes.

“Yeah, yeah. I’ll be out soon. Don’t you dare mess with my stuff,” you huff as you slide down the side of your bed and roll into the bathroom.

Once you re-entered your room, your eyes immediately notice the addition of color on your bed. Somi has laid down a few brightly colored outfits. She beams at you and you slap your forehead.

“Somi, don’t tell me…”

“(Y/n), you have to wear it, otherwise they won’t let you in,” Somi replies, firmly.

“Ugh, fine. I’m completely trusting you on this though. As you obviously know, I only work in black.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll take great care of you,” Somi wiggles her neatly drawn brows. You chuckle and roll your eyes, preparing yourself for the transformation.

“First of all, I think…you would fit lace. Also, I know you don’t like ruffles, “Somi holds out the ruffle-filled outfit and tosses it back into the bag, “so bye bye to that dress.”

“You know me too well,” you laugh.

Somi strikes up a conversation with you as she continues styling you. Sometimes you wish you could be just as gorgeous and free as your best friend, but you are who you are. You nod to what Somi is saying, but you aren’t really listening too closely.

“And…done!” Somi squeals as she bounces away from you.

You turn around and gasp a little. You almost didn’t recognize yourself as you are no longer in all black. Your hair is brushed and pulled back into a neat braid. You twirl around and watch as the pastel, lace dress you have on, poof out. You blush a little and cup your face.

“Do you like it? I can tell you do,” Somi smiles softly at you.

“Huh?” you are knocked out of your trance by Somi’s soft voice, “I-I mean…it’s alright.”

Somi chuckles at your shyness and you let out a small smile. You cover your face and swirl around to face your stylist. You thank her quietly before admiring yourself a little longer. It has been a while since you had dressed up.

“Okay, stop checking yourself out, let’s go before the cafe gets too busy,” Somi pulls your arm and drags you out of the room.

“Here we are,” Somi links her arm with yours as she proudly stands in front of a flower covered, pastel building.

“Flower Cafe…pick your…boy? Wait, what?” Somi drags you in, ignoring your question.

As soon as you step a foot in, you notice all the staff’s eyes are on you and Somi. They all greet you and you hide behind Somi, hoping that no one will notice you. Obviously, that technique doesn’t work because a cute boy with silver hair starts gliding towards the two of you.

“Happy birthday, Somi! I’m so glad you could make it,” the boy grins widely at your best friend.

“Oh, and hello, a pretty girl like you cannot be missed,” you watch a little horrified as the boy lightly kisses your hand.

You draw your hand back awkwardly and nod back at him. You lightly squeeze Somi’s arm, signaling her that you feel uncomfortable. Somi grins at you, calming you a little.

“Thanks, Hwi. This is (y/n) and (y/n), this is Daehwi,” Somi introduces, “I wanted my two best friends to meet.”

“Of course, it’s my pleasure to finally meet you, (y/n),” Daehwi smiles angelically at you.

“Um…yeah same,” you chuckle nervously, wiping off the sweat that has formed on your palms.

“Oh, I’m so sorry. I’ll show you to your seat and give you the menus. I apologize for the wait,” Daehwi chuckles.

“Haha, no problem, Hwi,” Somi giggles along.

You nod your head a little to show some response as Daehwi leads the two of you to a table for two in the corner of the cafe. A small vase filled with pretty flowers that were neatly and strategically placed in the vase stood at the center. Daehwi pulls out Somi’s chair and quickly moves over to your side to pull out your chair, but you stop him.

“Uh, it’s fine. I can do it,” you stiffly reply as you mechanically pull out the cushioned chair and plop down.

“Okay, I’m sorry,” Daehwi apologizes as he places hastily places down the leather menus in front of you and Somi.

Somi sighs a little as Daehwi once again glides away. You look down, slightly embarrassed. You know it is his job to do things like that, but you got shy and refused the help.

“(Y/n), that was really awkward,” Somi snorted, straining on the “really.”

“Yeah, I know, but you know I’m just like that,” you roll your eyes.

“Pfft, you’re too cute,” Somi laughs, “Anyways, do you want some recommendations? Everything here is pretty good.”

“Yeah, that would be nice. I mean everything on this menu has such weird names. I don’t even know what is what,” you skim over the fancy text quickly.

As Somi quickly gives you an overview of the foods and drinks, you can’t help but feel a pair of eyes on you. Deciding to ignore it, you try to decrypt the menu. You flip through, gazing at the few pictures. You look up at Somi, making her stop explaining.

“Maybe we should just get everything,” you look at her seriously.

“What? I know you have quite an appetite, but that’s a lot…and it’s expensive,” Somi purses her lips.

“I know. Besides, I’m paying because it’s your birthday…and I’m probably going to eat all of the food,” you set the menu down.

“Hmm, okay then. No pretending you forgot to bring your wallet when you see the price,” Somi gave you an amused look.

Somi waves over at Daehwi and you sigh, wishing she had chosen someone else. That wasn’t your choice, however, Daehwi is also Somi’s friend, you try to reason with yourself. You clear your throat a little just as the silver-haired boy reaches your table.

“You ready?” Daehwi smiles sweetly.

“Oh, totally. But are you ready? (Y/n) and I decided on quite a bit of food.”

“Hmm, I was born ready. You know that, Somi.”

“Well, I hope you memorized the menu because we’re ordering everything on it,” Somi smirks and you giggle a little.

Daehwi lets out a shocked expression before swiftly transitioning back to his usual, glowing smiling expression. He takes a quick glance at you and you look away as soon as his soft, brown eyes meet yours.

“Challenge accepted. I will personally make all of your food without looking at the menu,” Daehwi states confidently.

“Good luck then!” Somi laughs as she Daehwi skips off. For once he isn’t gliding.

“…and here is the last thing we have on our menu, ‘Saved In Your Heart’. Take a bite out of this fluffy, sweet cheesecake and you’ll know what I mean,” Daehwi carefully places the last dish in front of you and Somi.

“Wow, that’s impressive,” you mumble to yourself.

“A-ah! Thanks,” a shy laugh comes out of Daehwi and you look up.

“Uh, you weren’t supposed to hear that,” you blurt.

“It’s okay, we can keep it a secret between us,” Daehwi winks at you.

You cringe slightly, but you understand that he probably has to do this. Maybe that’s the reason he’s one of the top servers here. Somi had explained that people don’t only come here for the food. People come here to vote for the top servers. Daehwi has been at the top for quite a while now.

“Uh-huh, sure…” you shrug before taking a deep breath, absorbing the sweet smell of cake and coffee. It was a cafe, after all, you weren’t really expecting anything besides dessert.

“Thanks, Hwi. I thought you were going to forget something, but I honestly don’t know because I don’t have the menu memorized…you better not rip us off, “Somi playfully glares, “You’re such a weirdo.”

“Hey, it’s my job! That’s also why I give the best recommendations. I know everything on the menu and I only need to know my customers’ taste,” Daehwi brags.

“Whatever, let us eat. Thanks though, really,” Somi grabs her fork and licks her bubblegum pink lips.

“Just wave me down if you need me,” Daehwi bows slightly before rushing away to the next customer.

“Ugh, I’m stuffed. I can’t believe we actually ordered that much,” Somi groans a little, patting her now slightly puffed out stomach.

“It was actually really good though,” you nod in agreement.

“True,” Somi waves Daehwi over, “but I don’t think we should order this much food ever again.”

“I mean…I don’t know,” you laugh.

A shadow appears and covers the empty plates laid out across the small table. You look up, only to find a smiling Daehwi by your tableside. You jump a little, shocked to find him so close. He seems to notice and scoots away a little. His ears are a little red, but you assume that it was because it was warm in the cafe. He had been moving around, balancing a tray full of desserts after all.

“How was your meal, ladies?”

Somi nods a little, “I kind of regret ordering this much, but (y/n) seemed to enjoy her stay.”

“Yah, don’t stretch my words…it was okay. I came for the food and because I’m a nice friend,” you huff.

“Haha, since it’s Somi’s birthday and lovely (y/n)’s first time here, it’s on the house. It’s free.”

A moment of silence passes after Daehwi lets those unbelievable words slip out of his dainty lips. You shake your head and open your mouth to speak. Out of you and Somi, you are the first one to be knocked out of shock.

“No, that’s expensive. Besides, I already said I would pay for all of this for Somi,” you deny the offer.

“Oh, no…I insist,” Daehwi gives you another dazzling smile, but you don’t waiver.

“Haha. Nice joke, bro. I’m paying,” you start to pull out your wallet.

“It’s okay, you don’t have to pay with money then. You can pay another way,” a wink was shot your way.

You feel a soft hand place itself on yours to stop your actions and you look up. You give Daehwi a light glare before shaking his hand off yours and slam some money onto the table. You watch as Daehwi jump a little, shocked at the power you put into the slam. Honestly, part of you has no idea why you are doing this. You look over at Somi who sighs a little and reaches for your arm.

You can feel all eyes on you and you shudder a little. You feel slightly disgusted that Daehwi had mentioned “paying another way”. You didn’t know exactly what he meant, but you are sure it isn’t something good. To be honest, you were warming up to Daehwi although it might not seem like it to other people. You actually really enjoyed his presence, but just those few words twisted your views on him.

“Somi, let’s go. I’m sorry,” you refuse to look over at Daehwi and snatch Somi’s arm and storm out.

“Daehwi, I’m sorry! I’ll text you!” Somi manages to yell at Daehwi before you shove her out the small, cozy building.

“Look, I’m sorry I ruined your birthday. I really am…I don’t even know why I did that,” you nudge the birthday girl next to you.

“Hmm, it’s fine,” Somi sighs.

“I know you’re mad. I’ll make it up to you, what do you want me to do? I’ll do anything,” you practically beg.

Anything? That’s tempting,” Somi raises a brow, “in that case, I want you to go back to the cafe with me.”

“…Yeah about that…” you trail off.

“You said anything, remember? Also, I know those words gave you the wrong idea, but Daehwi really means well. Trust me,” Somi stands up and hugs you.

You awkwardly pat her back before humming in agreement. Anything for Somi. She’s done a lot for you…

This time, Somi didn’t make you dress up and kept you in your all black outfit. She stops right before the door and spins around to face you. She gives you a hug before pulling away, looking right into your eyes.

“Please, give Daehwi a chance?” she pleads with her puppy eyes.

“I know, I know. I will,” you grunt in response, shying away from her cute face.

You prepare yourself as Somi opens the door. A greeting came from the staff once again, but this time, all eyes are on you when you enter. To be fair, you are the only one in dark colors. The cafe’s palette contrasted strongly with yours.

You notice Daehwi’s slightly confused expression as he cautiously approaches the two of you. He greets the two of you with a slight bow before offering you a table. You look down as Daehwi leads the way. This time, you let Daehwi pull your chair out for you and Somi gives you a proud look.

“I didn’t expect you to come back,” Daehwi looks down, fiddling with the apron loosely tied around his slim waist.

“Well, (y/n) had a change of mind. I need to use the restroom,” Somi smoothly excuses herself.

An awkward pause started as soon as Somi left. Both you and Daehwi look away from each other, refusing to make eye contact. Just get this over with, you give yourself a light pep talk. You open your mouth to speak.

“Oh, you first,” Daehwi finally looks your way.

“Um…I wanted to apologize for the way I acted last time,” you sigh.

“I should be the one apologizing, I should have worded my sentence differently. I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding,” Daehwi begins rambling, “Really, I actually wanted to ask you out as a payment, but I guess it came out a little weird, huh? Um, Somi actually talks a lot about you and I began to like you more and more and I wanted to meet you. I–”

“Hold up. What?” you practically screech, “You were going to ask me out?!”

“Uh, did I say that?” Daehwi messes with his dyed hair.

“Yeah,” you look down, shyly.

“Well, you see, I don’t want you to think it’s creepy. It’s just that I was really intrigued and you seemed like someone pleasant to be around, which you are…I’m just really awkward. Please don’t think I’m a creep,” Daehwi cries.

“Stop, you’re rambling again,” you hold a hand out, “It’s fine.”

“Can…can we start over?” Daehwi meekly suggests.

“Um…I guess. That’s what Somi would want, right?” you ponder on whether you should shake hands or not.

“Yeah. Friends, for now?” he finally lets out a small chuckle.

You nod and Daehwi holds out his pale hand. You stiffly grab it and shake it mechanically as physical touch just isn’t your thing. This causes Daehwi to laugh a little and you finally let out a small laugh of your own.

“I hope we can get to know each other better!” Daehwi states, brightly.

A few months later…

“Wow! Is that a bit of color I see?” Daehwi teases.

“Ugh, shut up, you and your little cafe are just really rubbing off me,” you roll your eyes as you stir your tea.

“But, it looks really cute on you~” your boyfriend of two months coos at you.

“Oh my gosh, please,” you look away, tossing your hood over your head to cover your tomato red face.

“Haha! You love it though,” Daehwi winks at you and leans closer.

“Yeah, yeah. You’ve got another customer asking for you. Go away and leave me be,” you joke.

“Mhm…don’t miss me too much, okay? I love you, flower,” Daehwi gives you a small peck on the cheek.

You squeaked in response, leaving Daehwi satisfied with the reaction. You hide your face, hoping nobody notices your bright red face. Slowly, you spread your fingers slightly and peek at Daehwi’s furthering figure.

After you had made up with Daehwi that day, you slowly became a regular at the cafe. At first, you came with Somi, but over time, you started to come by yourself. You had really bonded with Daehwi and when he asked you out, Somi made sure that none of his customers would mob you.

You are glad you listened to Somi and made up with Daehwi. Never had you expected to be dating someone practically the opposite of you. The two of you balance each other out perfectly though. He warms you up with his bright smile and lovely personality. On the other hand, you make sure he takes time off to himself so he doesn’t stress out too much. You take a small sip of the sweet tea and you smile a little.

I love you too, Daehwi.

The Sims 4: New Game Patch (June 1st, 2017)

There’s a new Sims 4 update available in Origin. If you have automatic updates enabled in the “Application Settings”, the game will auto-update once you open Origin. If you have auto-updates disabled, you will need to manually update by clicking the game in your library.

To ensure your game is up to date, check the game version found in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > GameVersion.txt. Your game should now read: PC Version / Mac Version If you’ve updated but it’s not showing the correct version, delete the GameVersion.txt file, restart, and all will be corrected.

❗ Remove all MODS and Custom Content before updating your game ❗

Update: 06/01/2017 – PC Version / Mac Version

Hello Simmers.  Just a little tidying up today.

  • If you see some blurry thumbnails in the new Load / Save menu, it’s not you. It’s us.  Rest assured that save slots created after this little tidying episode will no longer have the issue.  To clear up blurriness for existing saves, you’ll need to do a little magic to bring it back into focus:
  • Despite not having the new pack, your stereo will no longer look like it’s playing loud music – even when it’s off.
  • You can now alter alien disguises again with merry abandon.
  • Really, you didn’t want the entire, long, sordid, intricate history of each of your relationships displayed? Ok. Ok. It’s back to how it was before….
  1. rub your eyes twice,
  2. wiggle your nose,
  3. resave your save game, then
  4. viola, all crisp and clear again!

Thanks everyone!  Enjoy and be good to each other!

not related to any of my current projects, but i did see a topic on @pinkuboa‘s blog about chase scenes, and while i did reply i do have many more thoughts on the matter that i couldn’t fit into one tumblr reply. so i’m going to try to write them all down here instead.

before adding your chase scene, consider the following:

  • does this chase scene have anything to do with the actual story? is there a reason for the chase to happen at this specific point in the game, or are you adding it for an adrenaline/fear factor? if your chase scene exists only to scare the player, i consider it a little cheap. in my personal experience, one of the scariest things in a horror game is not a chase scene itself, but in fact a game completely absent of them with the constant feeling like a chase could start at any second. when i say that i don’t mean your game needs to not have any chases at all, but create an environment where the chases are tied in with the story and the player’s current spot in the story.
  • are your chase scenes random events? don’t. please. please for the love of god don’t have random chase scenes. it’s incredibly frustrating to be close to solving something or have a hunch, but you end up being chased away from your goal by a random encounter and have to backtrack to where you were going. in addition, sometimes random events can get skewed; one person may encounter a chaser maybe 4 times through their entire game, and someone else might end up unlucky enough to encounter the chase 4 times in a single minute.
  • is the place the player needs to run to clearly indicated? would a player, without a guide, be able to find where they need to go? if your players absolutely require a walkthrough in order to survive a chase scene, you need to make the escape route more clear. one of the worst offenders of this, in my opinion, is the gray garden. a chase scene through a maze is the absolute worst thing you can do to a player in a chase scene, they get very frustrating very fast and may cause your players to give up and denounce your game altogether. mazes are good for other things, but don’t combine them with chasers.
  • ask yourself if you, the developer, are dreading the chase scene’s playtest. if you’ve made the chase scene convoluted or difficult enough to make even you not want to test it, you need to pinpoint the problem and fix it. if you hate your chase scene, why would you force it onto your players? i personally believe nothing you would hate dealing with should be added to your game; if it makes even you, the developer, not want to play your game, just imagine how many other people don’t want to deal with it either. again, this doesn’t mean you have to completely cut chase scenes from your game, but you need to make sure that it’s clear enough how to get through it. if you personally would hate playing it, your other players will probably hate it too. fix it!
  • one of the most important points imo is this: do you have a save location as close to the chase as possible without actually starting it? (disregard if saving from the menu is available in your game) i don’t think i need to mention how absolutely infuriating it is to be miles away from a save point and end up failing a chase only to have to backtrack from the save point all the way to the chase scene again. your save points should be as close to possible failures/death areas as possible. nobody wants to fail a scene over and over and have to tread for 15-20 minutes to the same spot repeatedly.
  • are your chase scenes predictable? as i saw someone mention before, there’s a game where the chase scenes always show up after a specific set of events/steps, and it became easy to predict them and prepare for them. part of the ‘terror’ that comes from chases is not being prepared at all and the panic of not having a way to fight back.
  • in my opinion, these things in general should never be combined with a chase scene: sound puzzles of any kind (your player will be focusing on getting away and probably won’t pick up on little sounds, especially if your player is hard of hearing), total darkness (really… do i even need to explain why chases in the dark are a bad idea), and FRICKIN MAZES

these are just according to my opinions and how i feel as a player. chase scenes in general tend to annoy players, but you can make them work if you do it right!

Schedules aren’t the only thing we’ve been being worked on! Here are a couple of the other things that have gotten done in the background:

-As you can see from my assistant up there, the lovely Miss Petunia, the framework for the “Ask About…” menus is done! With so many characters in the game and limited screen space, one challenge we needed to figure out was how to build a smooth, dynamic menu that could expand as the player met new characters and unlocked the option to ask about them. After a lot of fussing with different ideas and layouts, this problem has been solved! The structure of the dialog trees is like, 98% done, albeit… missing almost all of the dialog. Our writers are hard at work on a fix for that problem, though! :)

-Using knowledge from the scripted Save Menu, I’ve fixed the Quest Log so that it displays highlighted text and icons properly. Not only that, but I fixed it in a way that required far fewer variables and lines of code than I thought I’d need! Now all the Quest Log needs is some finished quests

New save menu is done!

The default save screen was quite unsuited to a farming sim, so I fixed it up! This one shows a lot of info, including the player’s current appearance, all owned pets, the character you’ve married (if applicable), how many of each critter you have on your farm, and several other pieces of info.

A few things still display the default value (such as quest count and completion %) and I’d like to figure out a nice-looking way to show whether you’re favored by the lawmen or outlaws, but minor tweaks aside, it looks pretty nice, doesn’t it? :D

By the way–would anyone be interested in a tutorial on how I put this together? I found the online documentation for the save-related data structures to be very lacking. It’s actually not that hard to build something like this once you understand what you’re looking at–I think that with a good explanation even beginner coders could build nice, customized save menus that are way better than the default ones. (Also I wish I did this sooner because I understand the way all the Ruby code is laid out so much better now… could have saved me some trouble earlier!)
