one last thing, I LOVED that they made Julia an artist. I have never been good at math or science, I was never that kind of autistic. but I did take to drawing very young, and improved very quickly. I wasn’t as good as Julia, but her art was made by an adult in the prop-making department so I don’t expect for it to look exactly like a 4 year old’s painting.
they didn’t frame her as some kind of ~artistic savant~ for her skill level, either. instead the comments were that her painting was silly and creative and that it looked just like her stuffed bunny. that was nice.
I have heard the stereotype that we have no imagination. that we are too literal and “closed off” to be creative or play pretend. I’m so glad that Julia is the opposite of that. I’m so glad she’s not a stereotype.
