saturday is going to kill me and i will cease existing

Over (part 1)

Everything is coming to a startling end for Harry and Y/N. It’s really over?

I’m gonna go ahead and apologize for this one. Harry HAD been gone for a long time and I was feeling some type of way about it…

PART 2

When had it become so one sided? How long had it hurt so badly? Since when were you the one making all the effort, and why haven’t you felt it until now? It was all crashing down. Crumbling, burning, incinerating. Screaming and rumbling– but you were silent. Words were caught in your throat, they didn’t dare escape.

“’M sorry. I just can’t….” Harry interrupted, his voice fuzzy coming from the phone. Always from the phone.

“It– Yeah..Alright. Maybe next week, right?” So badly you wanted to hide the realization in your voice, but it made itself known anyway.

“Y/N,” He began, but never finished. Even he knew that his argument didn’t stand a chance.

After countless moments of silence, ones that you spent hoping and praying Harry would come up with a compromise, he ended the phone call with a promise of he would call later. Of course he would, but how much later this time? Hours? Days? Weeks? It had turned into this now– a waiting game.

The point is that MLK would call what YOU are doing morally irresponsible (i.e. simply condemning the riots). And MLK CERTAINLY would not support your fucking comments, nor your respectability politics. Yes, MLK would ask for the riots to cease. But he would absolutely not chide the rioters for "fulfilling the stereotypes racists want to paint you with." Wipe his words out of your fucking mouth.

Oh, and talking about “black-on-black violence” (that ol’ racist chestnut) is definitely not “condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society,” which he identified as THE CAUSE OF RIOTING IN THE FIRST PLACE. But no, MLK would totally be on your side.

Really?  Well buckle in, sweet summer child, we’re goin’ for a ride.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Violence and hate only beget violence and hate.  What do you think these riots are doing?  They’re going to breed more hatred and violence, especially AGAINST the people rioting.

Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies - or else? The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.

And again.

Violence is wrong whether it’s violence of Negroes against White people or violence of White people against Negroes or violence of Negroes against other Negroes all violence is wrong because it is immoral and impractical

MLK Jr hated violence.  He viewed all violence, no matter who the perpetrator and who the victim was.  To think he wouldn’t be upset at that is stupid.  He would also be abhorred at the fact that black people seem only to get angry, to speak out, when it is a police officer who kills a black kid.

As evidence, take the words of MLK Jr’s friend and student, from a book detailing MLK JR’s thoughts through their conversations and what he thought about issues and how they coincide with today.

At a time when the nation’s streets are black killing fields– with blacks killing blacks by the dozens every week for no rational reason– the leadership appears concerned only with what might get hem on television; and apparently twenty more gangstas shot down last Saturday night is just another dog-bites-man, old-news story unworthy of mention.  If America’s black leadership truly had black America’s best interests in mind, that’s the issue the leaders would address.

I think you should actually read what MLK says and what he thought before you start condemning people.  But naw, you know more about MLK Jr’s opinions than one of his best friends and confidants.

MLK Jr’s heart would have broken over this, both of the injustice suffered and the senseless violence and damage in response.  We’re done here, you needn’t send me anything else, I will not be giving you any more attention.

Oh.  And to close things out.  It must chafe your ass something awful to know a white, Canadian girl has a better understanding of MLK Jr’s thoughts and opinions than you do.  Then again, I’ve actually read what he’s said with genuine respect and interest, not when I need to back up my biases and shitty opinion.

Unlike a certain anon.
