My Taylor Swift Experience
So on Sunday (6/25) my mom took me to the Taylor Swift Experience in Cleveland Mississippi. We drove 12 hours on Saturday (from Ohio to Mississippi) and stayed only one night, leaving to go home after going to the museum on Sunday.
It was for my 18th birthday (Saturday 7/1) and it was a mystery road trip. My mom gave me clues to open on the way and I had an idea that we were going there so I packed my tour shirt (the album cover one), a black skirt, and my sneaky cat keds just in case. The trip itself was fun. I wore my Red tour shirt and we listened to all the albums and talked about Taylor a lot. (My mom is a converted Swiftie.)
THIS IS THE GOOD PART
So we got to the museum about a half hour before it opened and just hung out. We took some pictures of the signs and sculptures and then they opened. My mom had called ahead so they were expecting us and knew it was for my birthday. We walk in and buy our tickets and there is no one else there. It is completely empty. So we take a picture in front of the giant Grammy in the entry way and suddenly I hear love story. The exhibit was in a side room and walking in was magical. There’s neon lights and Taylor’s music videos are playing on that giant stereo and dance floor (which is as cool as Taylor made it look) and there are flat screen with like videos of performances (IDWLF from SSN and Wildest Dreams/Enchanted from tour) and an interview and one with like home videos and stuff. There’s a recording studio where you can sing along to WANEGBT with Taylor and HER CLOTHES. HOLY CRAP IT WAS INSANE. LIKE HER TOUR COSTUMES FROM 1989 I HAVE SEEN IN PERSON BUT THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE REAL UP CLOSE. HER TOUR PIANO WAS A LITTLE BANGED UP AND HAD SILVER DUCT TAPE IN PLACES. HER COSTUMES WERE MISSING RHINESTONES. IT WAS ALL SO REAL IT WAS LEGIT BREATHTAKING. THE MEAN BANJO AND THE SPARKLY GUITAR AND HER HAND WRITTEN LYRICS AND GIFTS FROM SWIFTIES AND EVERYTHING WAS SO INCREDIBLE I LEGIT DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE. But I had to.
So we went to the gift shop and while I was looking at shirts the assistant manager ran over with a bouquet of flowers and hand it it me and says Happy Birthday. I’m like thanks and he took a picture of my Mom and I in front of the Grammy and then we left.
Tl;Dr The Taylor Swift Experience is incredible and I wish I could live there
