satan was with us

(See Ephesians 6)

God’s armour for us

We are engaged in a spiritual battle - all believers find themselves subject to Satan’s attacks because they are no longer on Satan’s side. Thus, Paul tells in Ephesians 6:10-17 to use every piece of God’s armour to resist Satan’s attacks and to stand true to God in the midst of them.

Belt - truth… : Satan fights with lies and sometimes his lies sound like truth but believers have God’s truth, which can defeat Satan’s lies..

Body armour- God’s righteousness: Satan often attacks our hearts - the seat of our emotions, self worth and trust. God’s righteousness is the breastplate that protects our heart and ensures His approval. He approves of us because we have trusted Christ to save us and cleanse our hearts from sin.

Shoes- the peace that comes from the good news : Satan wants us to think that telling others the good news is a worthless and Hopeless task the size of the task is too big and the negative responses are too much to handle. But the shoes God gives us are the true peace that is available in God, which prepares us to share the news with others.

Shield - faith: the shield of faith protects us from Satan’s fiery darts in the form of insults, setbacks and temptations. With God’s perspective, we can see beyond our circumstances and know that ultimate victory is ours.

Helmet - salvation: Satan wants to make us doubt God. Jesus and our salvation. The helmet protects our mind from doubting God’s saving work for us.

Sword- the word of God: the sword is the only weapon of offence in the list of armour. There are times when we need to take the offensive against Satan. When we are tempted, we need to trust in the truth of God’s word..

why you must be extra careful when speaking Finnish

example 1:

Tapaan sinut huomenna. = I’ll meet you tomorrow.

Tapan sinut huomenna. = I’ll kill you tomorrow.

example 2:

Vauvalla on tikkari. = The baby has a lollipop.

Vauvalla on tikari. = The baby has a dagger.

example 3:

Saatan käyttää sitä. = I might use it.

Saatana käyttää sitä. = Satan uses it.

When I have children:

Friend: So what are their names?
Me: Mark, Bishop, Jedikiah and Lucy.
Friend: So all names from Mark Pellegrino? Lucy is the only normal name, is that because she’s a girl?
Me: Oh honey no
Friend: ??
Me: Her middle name is Fer
Friend: Lucy Fer?
Me: …
Friend: Lucifer oh my god

Trump Survival Tip No. 10: Thermite

Ever wanted to stop an armored vehicle stupid-easily, with something that’s legal, very safe to store and use, easy to acquire, and burns like Satan’s asshole? Molotov cocktails might look very impressive, but there’s an incendiary that does all those things and that we’ve all been overlooking: thermite.

Thermite, for the uninitiated–which, let’s be real, it’s the Internet, you’ve all heard of thermite–is a non-explosive incendiary powder made from aluminum filings and iron oxide. It is completely safe to store, since it’s basically just metal dust. Like an 80% lower (more on that right here), it’s pretty much untraceable, as both rust and aluminum filings can be manufactured at home or bought at a hardware store with zero paperwork. And when ignited, it burns at around 2500 Fahrenheit (1400 C), also known as half the temperature of the goddamn sun.

Rust can be manufactured at home pretty easily. Take steel wool, put it in a jar filled with water. Weigh the wool down with a magnet so it doesn’t float. Add 5tbs of bleach and 5tbs of vinegar. Let it sit for a day or two, then filter the resultant brown paste with a coffee filter. Alternatively, you can go to a paint store, where they sell it pretty cheap for pigment mixing, or eBay, where you can straight-up buy it.

Aluminum is also pretty easy to get. Take a grinder to something made of aluminum (cans, bike parts, whatever) and collect the sparks, and bam, aluminum filings. Machine shops will probably give you plenty in exchange for sweeping. Or, like rust, paint shops and eBay are viable options as well.

Mix your two powders at a ratio of 8 parts rust to 3 parts aluminum, by weight. Aluminum is pretty light so it’ll look about fifty-fifty. Mix evenly. Optionally, you can mix four parts thermite with one part modeling clay to get moldable thermite. You can’t light thermite with a normal match; get a magnesium sparkler or bit of magnesium ribbon and light that, and you’re good to go. Now you can melt through the engine block of an armored car like the Alien’s blood through the Nostromo.

Remember: when we fight, we win, so know how to fight!

Behind the scenes of The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit (Part 5)

Excerpt from director James Strong’s “Director’s Diary” (DWM #371)

It’s the week before we start shooting. The cast arrives in Cardiff for a read-through, followed by a rehearsal. This is such a treat. Too often, the first time that you’ll meet an actor is on set, and you’re straight into the work. Don’t get me wrong, you can’t do enormous amounts in a few hours, but any time with the cast in a room just talking through the script and the story can really help the end result. I tend to leave the script alone, and ask the actors to tell me who they think their character is? What do they like? We invent history and background, as well as exploring the relationships between the characters so when they arrive on set, hopefully they’ll have some concrete character notes in their minds.  This will enable them to launch straight into our story, as sadly on the day there will be no time to stop and ponder their ‘motivation’.

We gather early in the morning for the read-through. I nervously drink too much tea and need the loo constantly. It’s amazing the transformation that occurs when a script is read aloud. All the emotion and excitement of the page suddenly fills the room. It is so intoxicating, and, despite my dodgy reading of Zack (as Shaun couldn’t make it), the read-through goes really well, and everyone is looking forward to the shoot… regardless of the rather ominous weather reports, which warn of a major snow-front heading straight for us the day we start shooting!  Also, it’s my first chance to chat with Billie and David, who talk enthusiastically of the story as the scariest they’ve done!
