Kris and I drove out to White Rock so I could get my bluebonnet photos today!  While I was contemplating my next shot (and it was epic btw) she got this pic of me with her phone.

.

Exciting Fat Person: Photographer edition.

.

I LOVE THIS PHOTO!

Know why?  Because it felt completely amazing to be back in my element again.  Shortly after this shot I laid on my belly and got the most beautiful bluebonnet photo I’ve ever taken.

.

It felt AMAZING to be myself again.

OMG IT’S SO MUCH BETTER THAN I THOUGHT!

.

They haven’t bought anything … YET.

Turns out the guy is like… president of a bank, and they just bought a new building. He and his DECORATOR are at the gallery (where some of my work is) and they really like my courthouse photos.  And they want to use more to decorate the new building.

.

They want images of 6 specific TX courthouses.

.

And they want them FROM ME.

.

I JUST GOT COMMISSIONED TO DO A TRAVEL SHOOT I’VE BEEN WANTING TO DO FOR LIKE 5 YEARS!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG.

.

The only catch is they want them in like the next 2-3 weeks.  So I am about to be a VERY BUSY girl.  Most of them are day-trippable, but they also want the Austin Courthouse which is an overnight excursion.  If they can’t wait until the end of May, I’ll have to do that one next weekend and miss my class’s outing/shoot.

.

.

.

Which I’d be bummed about.  But OMG TOTALLY WORTH IT.

.

I AM FREAKING OUT IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY.

Totally awesome photo I found while organizing my work this weekend.

.

I took this with an Olympus Water Camera out at Lake Ray Hubbard.  We were drinkin and floatin at sunset, and I guess there was a spot of water on the lens (what else is new?) and in capturing the sunset from my floatie… this was the image that resulted.

.

I can’t wait to PRINT this!  I LOVE it!

.

.

*And it is now my desktop background!  So when I’m working on the mac and I minimize everything… I can pretend I’m back floating in the lake with the girls watching the sunset.

The second set of images from my Cancer project.

.

Each text is taken from (or paraphrased from) a day in my Cancer blog.  The date of each “entry” is written on the thumb.  The only guessed day is the first one.  I wrote the poem Beast sometime in February I believe, but had to guess at the date.  It was posted in my blog in March… but I wanted to use it to represent the time before diagnosis which is when it was written anyway.

.

They’ll be printed as 9x6s for the portfolio project, but ultimately if I can complete it as a standalone project, I’ll be trying to do something more significant with them.

I almost forgot that it’s SUNDAY!

You know what that means around here now…  It’s SCBurlesque day!  so… again, tagging with scburlesque so those of you not interested in seeing the most amazing and body-diverse photos of fabulous burlesquers… add it to tumblrsavior.  And for the rest of you:

The thing that moves me most about my burlesque experiences is how many different kinds of bodies there are.  I’ve seen performers who are barely 18, trim and tiny… and women in their 40s, stretch marks, lines, wrinkles… Thin, Fat and everything in between…  and at a good show, at the best shows– it doesn’t matter what BODY is performing– they all get the same respect and cheers and joyful reception.  If for no other reason, than because they have the balls to get up on stage and shake it just as they are.

This young woman was FANTASTIC!  We actually ran into her while one of our models was changing and she was so nice to allow us to photographer her and her FABULOUS HAIR!  Then, when we explained that we were a student group from a local CC, she was even kind enough to exchange info with our teacher- and said she’d love to come model for us next term for class!

.

Can’t WAIT to have her in the studio in the fall.

.

And yes, her hair is lilac.  And I’m pleased that none of my classmates was ass enough to try and touch it.  (thank god).

.

She was beautiful, had a great personality and was a really great sport!

SHOOTING A QUINCEANERA IN JUNE!

And my friends are crazy awesome agents because I’m getting $400 for it! (Prints extra to be decided later)

.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOD

.

I’m giving them a call tomorrow to arrange a quick shot next week of the girl in her dress so they can use it for the party stuff, but OMG I’M SO EXCITED!!

First 4 images are more Fallow Deer (also may be Axis Deer… hard to tell)

.

Obviously the middle 5 are Giraffes.  Usually they roam around the park more but they were… cordoned off the day we visited for some reason.

.

The last is a Gemsbok

-One of the few antelope species able to protect themselves from lions
-African Tribal Masks are modeled after their markings
-Males and females have horns which can grow to 48in. long

9

The first 5 images are European Red Deer

-Closely resemble American Elk
-Males make powerful bugling call during mating season
-Shed their antlers each year in february and regrow them quickly

.

Next image is Sable Antelope

-herd rests in outward-facing circle
-females are reddish brown, males are black, both have white undercoats
-Nomadic in nature, tend to wander from protected preserves in Africa

.

The final 3 images are scenic shots from the course of the.  The first is from Fossil Rim, the second is from Lake Granbury, and the third is just a sunset shot on our drive home.
