I’m very much a fan of Brooklyn based Australian and Irish duo Tamper and their turbulently brooding and dramatic blend of indie rock and electronic. I’ve also been fortunately privy to the knowledge that Tamper has some delicious cover treats for us to reveal over the rest of this summer. They’re all very spectacular renditions of songs I already love. Tamper’s first reveal is a Santigold cover, a darkly moody re-imagining of her song Disparate Youth. Disparate Youth happens to be my favorite track off Santigold’s 2012 album Master Of My Make Believe, and Tamper does a phenomenal job making the song all their own. Tamper’s Disparate Youth gloomily drones with a mournful, pensive march. Watch the duo’s video for the cover below, too. Stay tuned for more incredible covers from Tamper.

I interviewed Santigold on her collaboration with Smashbox a few months ago now - it was in the May issue of Teen Vogue. I had the opportunity to test out the products beforehand and talk to Santi ‘bout the process of designing them, it was really fun and her thought process behind everything was very much centered around long lasting, universal colors inspired by fellow WOC.

It’s finally on sale and you can get it for 25% off at Smashbox’s F&F sale. The packaging alone is super beautiful – all her design – and I think, worth the sticker price alone.
