Follow your heart or yield it?

Follow your heart or yield it?

“Follow your heart.” We have all undoubtedly heard this phrase before. Thousands of movies, TV shows, and other forms of entertainment have thrived with this message as their primary theme. I am reminded of one of my favorite childhood movies, The Sandlot. For those of you who have not seen the movie, there is a scene where one of the main characters, Benny, is talking with Babe Ruth in a dream.…

1- Errr… I like Drake? I like him, because he makes me happy (when skies are gray.) I don’t know, he’s just really chill and he’s always been there for me. I love the nerd, what can I say?
12- I am worrying about all this packing I have to get finished by Thursday.
19- My longest relationship was two years on and off with a guy named Owen. He’s also the son of the director of that Sandlot movie.
26- My first kiss was on my front porch with Owen. He was about to walk home and he was all, “Don’t I get a kiss goodnight?” And I was all, “I don’t know. Do you?” Then I think he kinda like kissed me, but I pulled away really quickly cause I was nervous. So that didn’t really count. My first real kiss was in my bedroom and Owen was all, “If you love me, you’ll kiss me.” So basically, he guilted and forced me into my first kiss and it was just like all bad from then on and stuff lol anyway

You're Killin' Me Smalls

You’re Killin’ Me Smalls

While putting the laundry away a ran across my sons shirt that has a picture from one of my favorite movies, “The Sandlot,” with the quote “You’re killin’ me, Smalls!” written across the shirt.

The Sandlot (1993)

I absolutely loved The Sandlot when it first came out.  If my memory serves me correctly, my friends and I took the bus to go see it during spring break in 1993. We all loved baseball (still do!) and couldn’t wait to see the movie.  We were not disappointed, it’s a great family type of movie with funny characters and a terrific story.

I think every time we played whiffle ball that summer someone yelled at least five times a game “you’re killing me Smalls!”  And what would a classic baseball movie be without James Earl Jones?  I somehow thought he was in a lot more baseball movies than he really was.  Turns out it was only The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, and The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings. (now that’s a title!)
