I absolutely loved The Sandlot when it first came out.  If my memory serves me correctly, my friends and I took the bus to go see it during spring break in 1993. We all loved baseball (still do!) and couldn’t wait to see the movie.  We were not disappointed, it’s a great family type of movie with funny characters and a terrific story.

I think every time we played whiffle ball that summer someone yelled at least five times a game “you’re killing me Smalls!”  And what would a classic baseball movie be without James Earl Jones?  I somehow thought he was in a lot more baseball movies than he really was.  Turns out it was only The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, and The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings.
