Mafia III: Fancasting Edition

So I’ve been doing some thinking, if they ever did decide to make Mafia III live action film, who would be the perfect actors to play them beside their voice actors. So these are a few actors/actresses that I think would fit the roles perfectly. Most of these are based on purely looks but I tried to pick actors and actresses that would play the role to the T. (These are in no particular order)

1.Lincoln Clay/Trai Byers

We’ve all seen Trai Byer work his black boy magic as Andre Lyon on Empire. Based on physique alone, Trai has the height and build of Lincoln. && The man looks damn good in a suit.

2. Father James Ballard/Danny Glover

I was tempted to use Morgan Freeman in this role but I figured he might be over used, so I tried Danny. Danny would be great for an older James, the one whose doing the interview during the cutscenes. A younger one, I’m not sure yet.

3. John Donovan/Chris Pines

I saw Wonder Woman last weekend and all I could was,” Damn, he could play a live action John Donovan” lol. Chris is very talented and has great chemistry with his Co-Actors/Actress, such as G*l G*dot. Those dreamy blue eyes could play an excellent CIA Agent.

4. Cassandra/Rutina Wesley

Rutina is amazing in Queen Sugar! But beside the point, she was a complete bad ass in True Blood, she was make an excellent Cassandra. I remember she was cursing out white people in True Blood and our lovely Cassandra does the same. She won’t fuck with dem white folks, she’ll make Screaming Zemis so fast.

5. Roxy Laveau/Aja Naomi King

Another amazing black actress, she really shines in her role as Michaela on HTGAWM. She’s fierce and a force to be reckoned with just like Roxy. && She’s a cutie to boot.

6. Sammy Robinson/Giancarlo Esposito

This image alone gives me enough evidence xD

7.Ellis Robinson/Larenz Tate

Larenz Tate would fit the role of Ellis, possibly purely based on looks.

8.Thomas Burke/Jeff Bridges

9.Giorgi Marcano/Wilson Bethel

10. Sal Marcano/Robert De Niro

11. Vito Scaletta/John Stamos

This one was the hardest, like omg and even then I don’t think John Stamos would be a good Vito. Idk idk idk lol

I tried to keep their nationalities as close as possible. I had a really difficult time picking for Vito, Giorgi, Sal and Thomas. I would like to see your fan casting as well, so feel free to add. :)

He turned and started out. In Joe’s absence, he had undergone a strange experience. He had wandered through the ballroom and a small conservatory behind it and into the mansion’s kitchen, where the walls and floor were covered in gleaming black tile and the countertops coated with black enamel. There were a fair number of people crowded in there as well, and, hoping to find a place where he could be alone for just a moment and perhaps use the toilet, he had turned into a large butler’s pantry. Here he had come upon the unlikely sight of two men, each wearing, with the overdetermination of a dream, a necktie and a mustache, embracing, their mustaches interlocked in a way that had reminded Sammy, for some reason, of the way his mother used to fit his comb into the bristle of the brush on top of his dresser when he was a kid.

Sammy had backed quickly out of the kitchen and come looking for Joe; he felt that he wanted to leave, right away. He knew about homosexuality, of course, as an idea, without ever having really connected it to human emotion; certainly never to any emotion of his own. It had never occurred to him that two men, even homosexual men, might kiss in that way. He had assumed, to the degree he had ever permitted himself to give it any thought at all, that the whole thing must be a matter of blow jobs in dark alleyways or the foul practices of love-starved British sailors. But those men with the neckties and mustaches—they had been kissing the way people kissed in the movies, with care and vigor and just a hint of showiness. One fellow had caressed the other’s cheek.

Sammy rummaged through the riot of furs and overcoats draped on hooks in the front hall until he located his own. He settled his hat on his head and went out. He stopped and lingered on the top step. His thoughts were disordered and strange to him. He was appallingly jealous; it was like a heavy round stone had lodged in the center of his chest…. He turned and looked back at the doorman, a raffish-looking fellow in a greasy gray jacket who leaned against the front door, smoking a cigarette. What had so rattled Sammy about the scene he had witnessed? What was he afraid of? Why was he running away?

“Forget something?” said the doorman.

Sammy shrugged. He turned and went back into the house. Not entirely sure of what he was doing, he forced himself to walk back through the ballroom that was, now that Dalí had abandoned his diving costume, filled with happy and confident people who knew what they wanted and whom they loved, and into the black-tiled kitchen. A group of people were standing around the stove arguing about the proper way to make Turkish coffee, but the two men in the pantry had gone, leaving no trace of their presence. Had he imagined the whole thing? Was such a kiss really possible?

—  This passage felt revelatory to me when I was 15. And it still does.

Just finished barreling my way through Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and must now take the time, blinking as I return to the real world, to inform you that my heart has been broken and clumsily mended several times in the space of 600 pages, and I have finally understood what it means to have an OT3, and I hope you all had a merry Christmas because I pretty much read straight through it.

Do you have any designs for Charlie, Michael Brooks, Jessica, John, Carlton, Lamar, Marla, Jason, Sammy, Clay Burke, Henry, Dunn or any of the other characters from the books?

The Parlourverse focuses pretty much entirely on the games, with only some slight adaptations from what I’ve been told about the first book. So I don’t have any designs for the book characters.

Though there might be use for them later on for me, which will mean I’ll doodle them up just for reference. Or perhaps I’ll just design them for fun. We’ll see. I’ll have to read the books completely and see how I feel about them all afterwards.

………..umm, no.

do you know if anything (books, movies, etc) have any jewish lgbt representation? as a jewish lesbian, i just want to see myself somewhere but its almost impossible

Just to pull a few things off the top of my head…

The first character that pops into my head is Willow Rosenberg from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, though she doesn’t come out until season 4.

Susan Ivanova on Babylon 5 is bi.

The TV show Transparent centers on a Jewish Trans Woman, though she is played by a cis man, which people have legitimate reservations about.

Torch Song Trilogy is a movie from the 80s which centers on a Gay Jewish Man played by Harvey Fierstein who also wrote the movie.

Robin Williams’s character in The Birdcage is Jewish.

There is Milk which is a biopic about Harvey Milk who was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California (and was sadly murdered for it). There’s also a very good documentary about him called The Times of Harvey Milk.

Kissing Jessica Stein is a movie about a Jewish woman who’s questioning her sexuality, though I’m hesitant to say what that is.

A book I talk about a lot here is The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon in which Title Character Sammy Clay is gay.

There’s actually a really good list here.

Kate Kane, also known as Batwoman is a lesbian, though I don’t know what’s going on with her since the latest reboot. You can get back issues.

Billy Kaplan, aka Wiccan, from Young Avengers is gay.

Angels in America by Tony Kushner is a masterpiece and features multiple gay Jewish characters.

I’ll add to this later. Any suggestions/recommendations from followers?

If you loved Cap 2 you need to read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Seriously. It’s about two young Jewish guys writing comics during the war and it is brilliant and heart-rending and beautiful and I’ve wanted to reread it since walking out of the theatre. So go find it. It’s by Michael Chabon and it will break your soul and you will never regret it.
