same advice

can we please get rid of the idea that you have to play hockey in order to know the game because that’d be nice

I would give the same advice to Simon that I would just give to anyone. I’d be like, just don’t worry about things too much.

I believe everything happens for a reason. I think there’s no such thing as failure and there’s no such thing as regret unless you see it that way. It’s really just opportunities to learn and I think learning is one of the most important things people can do. So allow yourself to learn.

I’m not saying go be crazy, but I’m saying like, push yourself outside of your boundaries. Take those extra steps and know that it’s all gonna work out. As long as you’re working to better yourself and in service of the people around you, you’ll be fine.

I hope this helps some people the way it helped me.

After giving this same advice about affirmations to a few people in the past few months, I thought I would put this together in comic form.

I actually recorded myself saying my affirmations and I repeat them as I listen on my drive to work. For a while, I got out of the habit of doing it and I realized I was feeling really down on myself. I’ve made it a priority lately and it’s made me feel more upbeat and capable. :)

Hello, and, hello!  You know, I’m a smidge confused about the hostility towards your house myself, honestly.  Why, look at what you’re made of!  Slytherins are known for being ambitious, strong leaders, and I don’t see anything wrong with that.  You know what you want to achieve in life, and that’s a great deal more than anyone else can say.

I think I’d give the same advice to anyone, no matter your school, house, or education.  Wherever you’ve been placed, you are the only one who can decide what it is you believe in, and what you want to stand up for.

Slytherins, be proud of your cleverness, and your strengths.  Use them when needed to stand up for your friends, but also try to remember that you’re not alone.  Your friends are there for you, no matter your house difference.  Your friends should be thankful for you, for being what you are.  And as a Slytherin, you can take pride in knowing that you are willing to do everything in your power to protect them, or the magical creatures you love.

Slytherins, you have a strength that just about everyone needs right now.  Be proud of that, and show the rest of the world just what you can do.

I love Valentine’s Day literally just because I have an excuse to make these silly things :)c

Things Taylor Swift stands for:

  • treating others with kindness
  • humility
  • hard work and discipline
  • raising up other women and supporting them
  • equality for women when compared to men
  • saying nice things to others to make their day a little brighter
  • thank you notes and manners
  • standing up for what she believes is right
  • standing up for others who are not able to speak for themselves or whose voices are too quiet to be heard
  • giving thoughtful advice that can help others
  • but at the same time, not giving advice when it is not asked for
  • being the best person she can be every day
  • being thankful for life, for those who support her and those who love her
  • bravery

Things Taylor Swift does not put up with and neither should you:

  • Careless, unkind words and words spoken with the specific intent to hurt others
  • bullying
  • putting others down
  • discrimination based on any number of factors such as age, sexual preference, gender, religion
  • betrayal of trust
  • hurtful, assuming rumors
  • body shaming
Being Scorpius’ Malfoy’s little sister would include...

- HIM BEING SOOOOOOOOOO OVERPROTECTIVE. He can’t help it, Malfoy’s are are protective people.

- But just because your younger doesn’t stop you sassing people who dare say anything bad about your brother either.

- A close relationship ever since you guys were kids. You trusted him with anything, and vice versa.

- Asking him for help with homework and school. He would stay up late any night to help his little sister out.

- As kids, you played games together. You were very secluded from the rest of the wizarding world, so you guys became each other’s best friend.

- He loved reading books to you. You loved when acted out as the characters.

- But also gave any life advice as well.

- Immediately liking Albus as he made Scorpius happy. Even becoming friends with Lily.

- Him asking you for dating advice and same goes for you, you would ask him for advice as well. Basically, you were each other’s wingman.

- Sometimes going overboard on the questions when you had a new girlfriend/boyfriend. “Come on Scorpius you’ve asked this 5 times already.” “Sorry, just want to make sure they’re good enough for my baby sis.”

- Being there for each other in the hardest of times.

I’ve have about two years left before I graduate high school, and I am scared out of my mind. I don’t know what I will do with my life afterwards. I can’t figure out what university to attend, or what job I would like to have, or anything of the sort. It’s overwhelming to the point where, even though I still have two years, I almost feel like shutting down completely. Any advice would be appreciated.

Anonymous,

You are far from the first person to have these fears. Many before you have felt exactly the same way you do.

It’s easy to understand why. This is a series of enormous decisions you will have to make. Being uncertain about all of them will make a person feel overwhelmed, as though you are massively behind the curve because of your uncertainty. I want to be the first to assure you: you are not.

Allow me to reconstruct this problem logically. You don’t know which university to attend yet. Before you make that decision, you will be putting in applications to universities. You only need narrow down your decision to a handful of options for this step. Subsequently, you will hear back from universities, who may accept you, reject you, or perhaps accept you with a scholarship.

This will make choosing between your finalists much easier. The decision won’t even approach the level of stress it feels like it will induce.

As for your career, I have pleasant news. There are institutions designed for helping students discern their career path. They are called “universities.” Remember, universities wish for their students to graduate and to be successful after graduation. You should expect to find plenty of resources at your university to help you with this decision.

A final point to consider: a staggering number of people change their majors in university, and far more choose an unexpected career after entering the work force. Those with a university degree frequently find that their degree qualifies them for jobs they never knew existed, or ones they didn’t expect. Put another way, you are not under nearly the level of pressure to commit to a career decision that you may think you are.

To summarize: you will be dealing with these problems in sequence. They don’t feel manageable when you think of them together, but each one, individually, will be much simpler when you arrive to it. Millions of people before you have discovered this for themselves.

One problem at a time. This approach will help you maintain a level head.

I wish you all the best in the meantime.

@hajime-isayama-official Hi mother! I love your artstyle because all your characters actually have different facial features (while a lot of other manga artist draw almost identical characters except for hairstyle and other super small details). I’ve been trying to make characters that are unique as well, but once I make a face that I actually like, I have trouble drawing it again and making it look like the same characters. Any advice?
