sam irby

huge book recommendation

okay, listen y’all. if you have a mental illness, a physical illness, have no idea what the fuck you’re doing with your life, or just generally like really gotdamn good, funny nonfiction writing - check out We Are Never Meeting In Real Life by Samantha Irby.

there are probably like 10000 reviewers who have said this better than me, but Sam Irby writes to real and so honest about all the shitty parts of being a grown up, all the laziness and not doing anything and terrible dating and mediocre jobs and bad money choices and EVERYTHING.

and. wait for it. somehow, while still being an absolute disaster, she still falls in love with a gorgeous super tall lady and gets happily married.

so, you know, if you want to support a black author writing about class, being fat, being queer, and being chronically ill both physically and mentally IN ADDITION TO some really funny shit about her cat, check this out!

(also she has another book called Meaty which I haven’t read yet but I’m sure is equally amazeballs)
