saltos-del-petrohue

Hello! I'm a student who's going to take her exchange this year in Chile and I was wondering if you had any recommendations on places you must see when you're there, thanks a lot!!! 🤓☺️

Nice question! Chile is extremely diverse due to it’s length, so there’s a lot to see.

1. Patagonia

There’s so much to see in Patagonia, “the end of the world”! Punta Arenas is the biggest (although still small) city, from where you can leave to the Isla Magdalena (home to a big penguin colony). The photo above was taken in the Torres del Paine National Park, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the whole world.

2. Gran Valparaiso (Valparaiso/Viña del Mar)

There’s so much to do and to discover in Gran Valparaiso! The old city is full of street art, the colorful houses are just beautiful, and you can go surfing or sandsurfing.

3. Puerto Varas (Volcan Osorno, Saltos del Petrohue, Las Cascadas, Frutillar)

Puerto Varas and it’s surroundings are just stunning. Personally, I was impressed by the waterfalls near “Las Cascadas”, which not many people seem to know, but it was so worth the about one hour long walk.

4. San Pedro de Atacama
I’ve not been to San Pedro yet, but it’s said to be amazing and there’s a lot to see. It might be hard to get there though - but if you can, plan a trip to this town in the Atacama desert!

Everybody will tell you different things about beautiful places of Chile; there are just so many! Here are some more places you might want to consider: Valdivia, Chiloé, Santiago, Pucón, la carretera austral.
Try to get to know the city you’re living in. There are plenty of beautiful places wherever you are.

Do you already know where you’ll be living, anon? Let me know and I’ll see if I know something about that place!
