sailing no more

Damn, Black Sails’ last season was clearly rushed due to the cancellation, but I’m still impressed.

Can’t believe it ended with the former slave & prostitute managing to wield all the power secretly -and heck, most women survived and kept their power- and the only way to stop the war crazy pirate (short of murdering him) was by giving him a happy ending by being reunited with his long lost boyfriend.

Wouldn’t you trade it all to have Thomas Hamilton back again?

Black Sails 1.02 // 2.05 // 2.08 // 3.10 // 4.09 // 4.10 - Truths

And then what does it matter if it was true when it was born? It’s found truth in its maturity, which if a virtue in man ought to be no less so for the things men create…Long John Silver’s story is a hard one to know. The men who believed most deeply in it were ultimately destroyed by it. And those who stood to benefit most from it were the most eager to leave it all behind. Until all that remains of any of it are stories bearing only a passing resemblance to the world the rest of us lived in. A world we survived. A world that is no more.

And bromance of the year goes to…

They paint the world full of shadows and then tell their children to stay close to the light. Their light. Their reasons, their judgements. Because in the darkness, there’d be dragons. But it isn’t true. We can prove that it isn’t true. In the dark there is discovery, there is possibility, there is freedom in the dark, once someone has illuminated it.

Happy birthday @jamesvflint

I will never get over the fact that Long John Silver defeated Captain Flint with love, like…I have never seen such a thing before, a man beating another man not with weapons or physical strength or manipulations but with…love and he did it pursuing nothing but more love and peace…like if this isn’t the most revolutionary portrayal of two male characters and their relationship then I don’t know what it is

It’s bad out there. Worse than I anticipated.

Odysseus, on his journey home to Ithaca, was visited by a ghost. The ghost tells him that once he reaches his home, once he slays all his enemies and sets his house in order, he must do one last thing before he can rest. The ghost tells him to pick up an oar and walk inland. And keep walking until somebody mistakes that oar for a shovel. For that would be the place that no man had ever been troubled by the sea. And that’s where he’d find peace.

In the end, that’s all I want. To walk away from the sea and find some peace.

John Silver is not a bad person so jot that down
