sacred waters

The Native Nations March is currently taking place through D.C. and at the White House, capping off a four-day protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline. As indigenous groups from all over the country continue to call for a meeting with Donald Trump, news outlets need make sure the voices of water protectors and environmental activists are heard.

UPDATE FROM STANDING ROCK:
Worse than before square one: being arrested and demolished and persecuted in SILENCE: they’ve shut down live feeds (must be an illegal block) and are behaving in ways that keep the media from being able to cover what’s happening.
They warned that they would come on the 22nd and instead came today so there would be no media coverage. Please please post so it can reach the people it should.
This makes me sick to post this: The raid has begun at Standing Rock (per Sunny Savage who is there). There is apparently a standoff happening right now. Backwater bridge has been opened, and there are large numbers of police, DAPL security, and National Guard circling the water protectors. Raids and mass arrest are imminent. Apparently, Trump is behind this. Live feeds are blocked. Media are not there, except for TYT. If you copy and paste, more people will see than if you click “share.” Send love & support by reposting if you will.

Salt & Witchcraft

Salt is a go to ingredient that witches seem to use abundantly.

Salt and it’s historical uses

In Germany, Normandy, and Scotland salt was sprinkled around a butter churn to keep witches from souring the butter or hurting the cow whose milk was used to make the butter.

An Irish folk remedy called upon the use of salt as well as the reciting of the lords prayer to get cure ‘faerie-struck’ children. Similar to the way the Bavarian and Ukrainian people used to figure out if a child had been bewitched.

Egyptian Caravans that were preparing to cross the desert would perform a ritual that involved burning salt on hot coals in order to prevent evil spirits nothing the travelers as well as to ensure a safe passage.

Provided protection from witches, witchcraft, demons, and the evil eye.

Salt and it’s uses in Witchcraft

Salt in general is used in ritual purification, magickal protections, and blessings.

Some witches place salt in the four corners of the room before casting.

Used in purification spells.

Used to symbolize earth, one of the elements, on your altar or when you are casting. Sea salt may be used as the element water due to the fact that it came from the sea.

Used in the Witches Bottle

Can be used as an offering to the Gods.

Some people associate it with wealth, prosperity, and good luck.

Is an ingredient used often and abundantly in Kitchen Magick.

Creates a magickal, protective barrier.

Cleanses

Throw salt to ward off malevolent spirits and energies.

Repels many types of evil.

Absorbs psychic energies.

Place in your bath to cleanse and rid negativity. (Epsom Salt)

Salt and it’s superstitions

If someone spills the salt at dinner, it means a violent family quarrel is on the way.

It’s considered bad luck to lend salt to someone, because that can lead to a feud between the borrower and the lender. A good way to avoid this problem is if you get a cup of salt from someone, pay it back with sugar or molasses instead. Interestingly, in parts of northern England and Scotland it is also seen as bad luck to lend salt, mostly because the person borrowing it can use it as a magical link to curse you.

Salt can also be used to detect the presence of witches: in the Ozarks, it is believed that witches don’t eat much salt, so if someone complains about food being too salty, she might be regarded with suspicion. There is also a tale that bewitched cattle will not touch salt.

If you spill salt you must through it over your shoulder to bring you good luck and to keep evil at bay.

Types of salt and there properties

Himalayan Salt: Is commonly used for protection, especially around the home and against malevolent spirits. Also used to purify and to get rid of any negative energies. Used in spells to release from attachment. It has gentle, but strong grounding and centering energies. Brings prosperity and abundance into a home. Promotes love, happiness, and friendship.

Black Salt: Is used mainly for protection. Absorbs and contains any negativity. Can be used for hexing too. It drives away evil and protects your home and belongings. Use it to create boundaries with your enemies. Wardings, undoings, uncrossings, binding work, journeying to the afterlife, honoring the crone, and many other workings use black salt. Black salt can also be used to return curses and negative energies back to it’s caster. Working with the dark moon.

✨Living in harmony with the Aina (land) ✨🌴🍌🍍✨ Giving thanks to Mother Earth for coconuts and mangos. Fruit is crystallized sunlight ✨🌞✨ Coconut water is one of the highest sources of electrolytes && it works as a blood builder and purifier :) Brothers and Sisters of planet Earth! Protectors of the Sacred! The time is NOW to bring our Mother back to Pono (righteousness)! To bring our practices into harmony with her. It is up to us! To balance ourselves in order to truly see and know the truth: Our Mother needs our help! To live our lives in supporting her healing. Her vitality. Her cleansing. She will continue to give until there is nothing left and she won’t ask for anything in return. This is why we have to ask for her. To re-remind our Brothers and Sisters. Spreading the word for her. This is why we have to LIVE the change ~ not only speak of it. BE IT! With all we are! What we give energy (money) to is what we perpetuate. These cycles of destruction to our own Mother. Let’s bring it back to the roots! Supporting Local Organic farmers! No more pesticides! No more slaughter! For me it seems so clear. To live in harmony with our Mother. To protect her from these companies that are polluting and depleting her mana (life force energy)! Living as an example for HER!! Giving back to her. Giving thanks for her!!! With every bite of the food she nourishes us with.

The real First Amendment travesty occurred this week when police continuously arrested and chased journalists and documentarians away from the nearby protesters at Standing Rock who concurrently had their First Amendment rights to peaceably assemble threatened.

Yes, the Sean Spicer press gaggle ordeal was bad, but Donald Trump is not needed for America to look like a police state, nor is he needed for Americans’ rights to be threatened.  Don’t allow a never-ending focus on Donald Trump to distract from injustice elsewhere in America.

๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒŠSea witchcraft.๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™

🌊A brief introduction🌊
I’ve seen lately that many people are interested in sea witchcraft. But… What is it?

Sea Witchcraft is mainly a practice, although it can be considered a religion sometimes.

This Craft shares some characteristics with Water Witchcraft, as Sea Witches work with different types of water, can work with some weather magic or so, while Sea Witches use also different correspondences related to the ocean, it’s creatures, flora, fauna, it’s cycles. The main difference is that, while Water Witches can use ocean’s energies or even see it as a big pool of sacred water (lol), Sea Witches see the ocean as a really important thing in our world, it is where all life started on Earth, it is one of the first sources of food humanity have known, and it is necessary for life on Earth to continue as we know it: In the water cycle, sea water evaporates and gets purified, then the winds take it somewhere else and it rains*. When it rains, it forms lakes, lagoons, rivers and, if the conditions are given, glaciers*. Without these, life would be surely almost impossible for us. For all these reasons, the ocean’s role is recognized and, in many cases, worshipped.

*: Sometimes it rains on the sea. Also, some places have acid rain, because of pollution, but in normal and natural conditions it wouldn’t occur, so rain is (in most places, where rain is not polluted) drinkable! be careful and check if rain it’s not toxic in your area!

🌊The Craft🌊

💙 The practice by itself it’s open for everyone.

💙 If you want to practice Sea Witchcraft as a religion, you can have water/lunar/sea related deities!

💙 A Sea Witch’s tools can be anything that makes you feel more connected to the ocean’s energies, these can be beautiful things as seashells, algae, watery herbs and crystals, different correspondences for creatures and water, and some more cheap materials as cords, paper for making sigils and really anything you find useful!

🌊How do you start?🌊

The first thing you’ll need it’s a strong love for the sea, done? prefect! then, I can give you some tips for getting started:

💙 As in any other type of witchcraft, you’ll want to read as much as you can: you can start with marine biology and geography, so you get to know the names, and some other data about the oceans that you may find really interesting!

💙 You can also start searching for the most basic tools as a wand, a bowl for water, a bowl for salt and, if you want, some more things as crystals, herbs, seashells, candles or anything you want to use in your craft! Also, a notebook to put all the info you’re going to acquire it’s a really great idea!

💙 In your notebook, now you can write down correspondences of types of water, seashells, colors, herbs, crystals and much more! you can even create your own correspondences of things surrounding you that you may want to use!

💙 Once you feel enough confidence, you can start spellcrafting! Your first spells may involve protection spells, or luck spells, easy things so you can get protected and start getting practice. My personal recommendation for sea witches is an self-iniciation ritual where you, after setting some protections on, present yourself to the ocean and offer your practice to it.

💙 As a Sea Witch, you may want to do some more witchy things daily. Some ideas can be: going to a near beach and collecting seashells or other interesting stuff and helping to keep the beach clean as an offering! Drink a lot of water, do some little chants or short spells for self-care or luck, and you can keep an altar for the sea!

💙 Many Sea Witches work with Lunar Magic, Weather Magic and Knot Magic, so searching for those too may be a good idea!

💙 Remember that Sea Witchcraft is about loving the sea and your strong connection to it, it’s like your home, so participating on raising aware of pollution and ambiental problems that may affect the sea, and doing some things like recycling or cleaning the beach is an awesome offering!

💙 If you want to know more about this practice, I have a whole section about it (My mermaid grimoire, here) and I’ll start posting a whole series of posts about it too, so give it a check! 💙

🌊Love, Nao🌊
