This week’s bullet journal spread~ I recorded myself making this spread on Youtube–here’s the link if you want to check it out! :D https://youtu.be/SnVYmAVbx84

I chose a yellow-ish theme, because I was happy this week! And spring break starts next week so I’m really excited. There’s also literally one more hour until Ivy Leagues release their decisions and I’m really panicking…>.<

Friends-themed Study Moods
  • The Monica: perfect posture sitting at a desk, colored gel pens in a cup, candles, homework in perfectly aligned stacks and clipped neatly on clipboards, Cornell notes, color-coded planner(s?) full of lists, dates from your syllabus input the very first day of classes, Pomodoro timers ticking in the background, highly focused with no music and no distractions, a bite of an Oreo as a reward for every page read, post-its for everything
  • The Chandler: instant coffee that's getting cold, Netflix playing alongside a Google Doc study guide, late night study sessions alone in a dark dorm room, constantly texting your best friend trying to help them pass and convinced teaching them is also helping you, responding to intrusions with sarcasm to hide happiness that hey at least this means it's break time, under a lot of stress but never quite enough to quit Netflix
  • The Ross: sitting in a library the first week of school, papers scattered all around in "organized chaos", reading ahead for your classes, a BIC ballpoint and yellow highlighter in your hand, losing points on assignments by overthinking everything and forgetting to answer the actual questions and then emailing your profesor, textbooks on the side that have nothing to do with the classes you're taking, dinosaur socks, debates everything and acts annoyed but definitely enjoys it, decaf coffee but if anyone asks it's a triple shot
  • The Rachel: studying with friends at Starbucks with a no whip mocha frappuccino, asking one another for help, making flashcards to quiz each other with, notes with purple pen and metallic gold for the headers, pop music playing over headphones, every Mildliner in your Kipling 100 pen case, hair up in a clip, planner that you fill only around exam time, doodles on everything, somehow finding yourself on pinterest or online shopping
  • The Joey: midterm? there's midterm?, cramming the night before, texting friends for help but they're all asleep (except maybe Joey), energy drinks and junk food, scrawling notes out in pencil on scrap paper even though you'll never have time to review them, watching Khan Academy and other Youtube vids on 1.5x speed, migrating to work on your (unmade) bed even though you know it's a bad idea, waking up without realizing you even fell asleep and then setting five alarms for the morning, understanding the fact that you do well under pressure
  • The Phoebe: messy buns, sitting outside either on a picnic table or the grass, you can be alone or with friends you'll do fine either way, rings glinting in the sun, losing track of time, snacking on nuts, an 8tracks playlist of indie alternative music mixed with some electro everyone's surprised about, you don't show off how much you know so you're constantly underestimated, coming up with rhymes and mnemonics to memorize things, pressed juice in a reusable bottle as well as some tea in a old pasta sauce jar, essential oils, Tumblr during study breaks
The 'No Excuses' Study System to Get That A

I  School Days  1. Show up to class a little early. It’ll give you time to set up, read over some old notes, put your water bottle/thermos on your desk, fill out your planner if you couldn’t in the previous period(s), check your planner to see if you have something on that day etc. 2. Sit in the front or second row. I’m serious, you will definitely benefit. Write detailed class notes. Pick whatever system works for you. I usually write my titles in red pen, notes in black pen, underline points that are repeated/emphasised, highlight keywords at home 3. If you have time at school, do as much homework as you can. If you know you have commitments that day, please for the love of your education do your homework at lunch. I know you might feel awkward, but your friends will understand.  4. When you get home, first list down all the homework received that day on a q card (cross off as you go). Then write the same tasks in your bullet journal, but as a daily spread. Use stayfocusd or self control for mac + leave phone in a different room. FINISH ALL OF YOUR HOMEWORK. If for some reason you couldn’t complete a homework task, write it on a sticky note and place it on your wall. After homework is done, write your revision notes (flashcard the info as well). Place the notes in your accordion folder/binder. If you have some loose sheets at any point, place them in a ‘To Be Filed’ box. Sort that out when you’re packing your bag for the next day. 5. Go through the flashcards made that day and the flashcards made on the previous days.  List out all assignments/assessments on another q card with their due dates. This will come in handy later. 6. Pack your bag the night before. Remember your accordion folder + make sure your ‘To Be Filed’ box is empty. Put water bottle in the fridge and make meals for the next day. 7. The next day, wake up early, complete any unfinished homework, go through flashcards again, read through revision notes, make lunch for the day, put laptop in bag, put food + water in bag, exercise (esp if you have commitments after school), shower, change, blah blah blah. Only do this if your schedule is packed, and in my case, this is a must. II  Weekends 1. On Friday nights, first off, do homework. You will thank yourself for it. Whip out that list of assessments/assignments and allocate half days to knock off at least two of these little assholes. Work ahead, you will feel much better. 2. Do your readings. For English, knock off some wider reading novels, for HSIE, knock off some textbook unit readings (two units ahead), for science, knock off some more textbook readings. Write summaries of each page. Type these summaries. Print these summaries. Place in accordion folder/binder. Flashcard the info. Spend like half a day doing this lmao. 3. Spend 1-2 hours going through the flashcards you made that week for each subject. This counts as studying my friend.  III Weekends When You Actually Have Assessments  1. Due to your working ahead, homework completion and readings, you shouldn’t be panicking too much. Get those revision notes and slot in the textbook readings notes. Highlight, annotate, read aloud, go through flashcards and get someone to test you on the content. Make sure you know all terms, formulae, key concepts, vocabulary etc etc 2. As for assignments, again due to your working ahead just print them out and heavily edit those little asshats. Then type the edits into the doc. Repeat this process four times. Then get someone to read it. Make sure all your assignments are on your USB + email them to yourself because you never fucking know tbh.  3. You’ll probs have to sacrifice your reading time but that’s chill because the teacher/prof will probably be focusing on prepping you for the actual assessment + you gotta do what you gotta do. SUMMARY Seriously, just do your homework the day you receive it, write revision notes, do your readings, write notes on those readings, make flashcards, knock out assignments as soon as you know they actually exist, read every wider reading novel (analyse these novels), read your required readings (analyse this too), go over flashcards every morning/afternoon, make use of spare time in class, do homework at lunch if needed, stick to your schedule, buy coffee/hot chocolate in the mornings and put it in a thermos, keep a necessities pouch in your bag, keep your P.E shoes in your locker, use a planner, track your spending, wash your hair, brush your hair, go to commitments, attend school events, attend events you’re invited to, go shopping, watch movies, be kind to yourself, take bubble baths, light candles, listen to music, SLEEP, get that A and most importantly be proud of yourself.

9.13.16 ♡  7/100 days of productivity

Woke up at 5 this morning and went to the gym to do pilates with my friends then went straight to school. I was dying throughout the whole day and I couldn’t even color for studio art lol. Went to work after school, then went home for an hour and studied for our medical quiz tomorrow, then went to school again to volunteer. I was the only one who showed up lol. I’m really tired right now but I wanna study for my other classes too so I’m gonna take a nap and inject myself with caffeine when I wake up.

Doing some note-taking :) I have a lot of English homework piling on, and I’m trying to read my own books as well as the assigned books for English, so it’s hard to keep track of >.<

HC about RFA's (+V + Saeran's) reactions to MC telling cheesy jokes and just being silly???

Yoosung:

  • He loves it.
  • MC’s joking around makes it easy for him to feel comfortable with them and for him to start conversations with them
  • He feels like he’s known them for years, maybe because they’re so similar to Seven and they’ve been best friends for years, but of course he appreciates the fact that they actually don’t mess with him as much as Seven does
  • He loves joking around with them though, especially when they’re spending time together

Jaehee:

  • She’s pretty annoyed with it.
  • It’s not that she minds joking around, but that being one of the first traits that she sees from the RFA’s new party planner worries her that she’s going to have to deal with another Seven
  • When she figures out that they’re responsible and that they do their work, even with their joking, she relaxes some and even joins in on MC’s jokes sometimes, to the shock of the RFA.

Jumin:

  • He loves it.
  • The only problem is, he also things he’s hilarious and will always try and joke around with them a lot which is almost physically painful, but also, MC doesn’t have the heart to tell him how awful his jokes are
  • Even worse, they probably defend him when Seven and Zen make fun of his jokes, which only encourages it
  • It makes him so happy that someone likes his jokes for once and he enjoys messing around with them.

Zen:

  • He gets easily frustrated with them, especially at first. They’re just another Seven, but he quickly realizes that, even though they mess around a lot, they can be serious too
  • He likes MC’s lighthearted behavior a lot of the time, especially when he’s tired or annoyed with work.
  • He loves that they respond to his flirting with flirts and jokes of their own instead of just brushing it off like the other members do, though he reminds them not to say such things to the other members.
  • Or to anyone else.

Seven:

  • Do I really even have to say anything?
  • These two tell the worst jokes
  • Everyone in the RFA probably hates them.
  • So many memes and cat puns
  • From the second MC first realized that he made a lot of jokes they knew he’d be the member they grew closest to, but Seven would get attached to them really quickly as well

V:

  • He’s quietly amused by MC’s joking around
  • He normally doesn’t really say anything or joke back with them
  • For a while they wondered if he actually noticed that they were actually joking and it became a huge mission of “make V laugh” and when he does, it’s a really nice, soft, happy laugh
  • Normally when he likes a joke, he’d just kind of smile.

Saeran:

  • He hates it with a passion.
  • He thought that Saeyoung was bad enough, but now he has the person he chose to go to the apartment constantly joking around with him too and why couldn’t he have chosen anyone else
  • But they’re more considerate about their joking around with him.
  • They still do it, but they hold back and mess around a lot less with him than normal and he appreciates that
  • It becomes MC’s mission to make him smile or laugh, or show some sort of positive emotion
  • The first time he reacts it’s the world’s most imperceptible smile and MC wouldn’t shut up for a week. The second time, however, he just started giggling and tried and failed to hide it and it was absolutely adorable.
  • Normally when they mess with him, his only reaction is to raise an eyebrow or to snort in annoyance and faint amusement, but very rarely he’ll laugh or smile and it’s the best thing
Chocobros Celebrating your Birthday

happy birthday anon!

Noct:

  • wants to throw you this big expensive birthday party but he’s a bad planner and worries it won’t go as planned and stresses over it
  • he’s bad at keeping secrets so you discover his plans early on and tell him you’re okay with a cozy party with just him and some close friends
  • even though you told him not to get you anything because you’re not a kid anymore, he brings you a present: that expensive thing you always wanted!
  • the party ends early and after cleaning up for a bit, he pulls you over to the couch to sit, relax, and just cuddle for a bit
  • “Happy birthday!” he kisses your hair and hides his blushing face on your shoulder

Prompto:

  • Asked when your birthday was and made a big :O gasping face when you told him it was a few days away
  • he surprises you with a hastily-put-together but big party with confetti and balloon animals, and a big honking cake with a replica sword to cut it with
  • there are people here you didn’t know would attend, but it looks like Prompt’s charm was hard to resist!
  • you play your favorite music and eat well, prompto pulls you to the dance floor and you dance the night away (the dance floor is the living room with the couches pushed aside lmao)
  • the party is only over when the sun rises, by then you’re all danced out, full in the belly, and collapsed on the floor in a pile of sleeping friends
  • Prompt brushes your hair back and beams at you, he’s slightly bleary eyed but full of adoration. “Haaappy Birthdaaay!”

Ignis:

  • will not show any hints that he’s aware of your birthday
  • it’s fine, you think, you’re not young anymore, you don’t need to make a big deal of it
  • when you get home that day, however, the house smells like your favorite candle, baked goods, and there’s your favorite song playing quietly
  • You find Ignis in the kitchen setting up a table for two, there’s candles and flowers but also a bunch of festive strings and napkins
  • “Happy Birthday, darling.” he hugs you and helps you into the dining table where he serves your favorite dish and an excellent dessert
  • a few of your friends drop by later, it’s a chill and intimate birthday, the day ends with you loved and content

Gladio:

  • not very big on remembering birthdays, but yours is an exception
  • his amusement park plan gets derailed because of maintenance, so he takes you to the park and you have yourselves a nice picnic
  • it’s fine by you, just being with him is good enough, but he urges you to take the calls from your friends and somehow it turns into a big festive picnic
  • everybody brings snacks and drinks, board games, a karaoke machine and cake
  • watching him get to know your friends and impress them fills your heart with love and gratitude, the day is supposed to be about you but he’s all you can think about
  • “Happy Birthday, babe.” He whispers in your ear while he carries you up the stairs to your place, your feet had gone sore from running around and sleeping on his chest didn’t seem like a bad idea

12.29.16 // 2016 has been one hell of a roller coaster. Thankful for the good times, but not gonna lie, I won’t be too sad to leave it behind ✌🏽️

Also thanks for 11k, you guys rock!

anonymous asked:

Hi! Do you have tips for studying/working and focusing? I want to do my best this year and I feel you are the best person to ask this!!

Hey anon! Sorry this took so long but here we are! Since this is pretty vague im gonna go with a quick explanation of the three learning types, visual, listening and kinesthetic.

  • Auditory students. tend to benefit most from traditional teaching techniques. Many teachers use a lecture-style forum, presenting information by talking to their students. Regulating voice tone, inflection, and body language will help all students maintain interest and attention. Auditory learners succeed when directions are read aloud, speeches are required, or information is presented and requested verbally.
  • Visual students. rely upon a visual learning style. Visual learners benefit from diagrams, charts, pictures, films, and written directions. These students will value to-do lists, assignment logs, and written notes. Many of these techniques, however, also benefit kinesthetic learners.
  • Kinesthetic students. Most of the school population excels through kinesthetic means: touching, feeling, experiencing the material at hand. They acquire information fastest when participating in a science lab, drama presentation, skit, field trip, or other active activity. Because of the high numbers of kinesthetic learners, education is shifting toward a more hands-on approach; manipulatives and other “props” are incorporated into almost every school subject, from physical education to language arts.

So, knowing what kind of student you are, you should be able to recognize the best studying systems out there for you, or personalize yours for the best even. Im gonna do a quick guide to do The Best for an actual high grade since, for a perfect grade, you’ll need to work hard in and out of the classroom.

In class

  • Attend your lectures. There are a ton of times the professor will discuss the exacts topics of the exam in them, and you’ll feel more motivated if you go. Also, record them if you can with your phone or a recording device. Sometimes your lecturer talks to fast or you miss some points, it’s hard to hear them or you just zone out so, it’s good to have a backup!
  • Attent your tutorials. This is your opportunity to clarify any questions you might have and to get help. (Plus, easy marks).
  • Take notes! Try to keep them the most organized, detailed and clean as possible, since you’ll have to check and revise them at home.

At home

  • Review your notes. It takes like 15-20 minute to revise those at home when you come from school. Revise the ones you take in class everyday and make a full revise of all of the week in the weekend. It’ll be easier for you to study the big test then.
  • Do your readings. Honestly. Stay on top of your readings. It’s hard. It’s really hard but it’s so so worth it. It’ll be boring as fuck sometimes, but you’ll need to push thru it.
  • Mark what you don’t understand. Mark or circle whatever you dont get and bring it to your tutorials or study group.
  • Do. Your. Homework. This is pretty self-explanatory. Even if you are sure you understand 100% of the material, it doesn’t hurt to do an extra practice in.

Tests

  • Make an exam schedule. Plan what, when and for how long are you going to study. Try to study at least one week on advance.
  • Turn off whatever distracts you. Yes. It includes your phone, internet and/or television. Go to a library or a coffee shop if you need that background noise to study!
  • Find your method for your learning type, as i mentioned earlier. Use flashcards, or pomodoro system or graphics or rewrite your notes… whatever it works for you!
  • Re-do your homework. Practice makes you perfect and getting to old questions will refresh you what you think you had forgotten.

My system

My system is actually a pretty harsh one and it takes a lot of discipline and it is a No Excuses system, but i guess that it’ll be good to share it with you guys.

  • School Days

Show up to class a little early. It’ll give you time to set up, read over some old notes, put your water bottle/thermos on your desk, fill out your planner if you couldn’t in the previous period(s), check your planner to see if you have something on that day etc. It’ll also give you time to put you up on situation.

Sit in the front or second row. I’m serious, you will definitely benefit. Write detailed class notes. Pick whatever system works for you. I usually write my titles in red pen, notes in black pen, underline points that are repeated/emphasised with a 0.8 black pen, and important practice exercises in green. Highlight keywords at home.

If you have time at school, do as much homework as you can. If you know you have commitments that day, please for the love of your education do your homework at lunch. I know you might feel awkward, but your friends will understand, it’ll save time and you’ll be relieved at the end of the day.

When you get home, first list down all the homework received that day on a q card (cross off as you go). Then write the same tasks in your bullet journal, but as a daily spread. Leave phone in a different room. Sort that out when you’re packing your bag for the next day or before going to bed.

Pack your bag the night before. Remember your accordion folder and please make sure your ‘To Be Filed’ box is empty. Put water bottle in the fridge and make meals for the next day.

The next day, wake up early, complete any unfinished homework, go through flashcards again, read through revision notes, make lunch for the day, put laptop in bag or whatever electronic device you use for class, put food and water in bag, shower and change. Only do this if your schedule is packed, and in my case, this is a must.

  • Weekends

On Friday nights or after lunch, first off, do homework. You will thank yourself for it. Whip out that list of assessments/assignments and get for yourself the saturday and sunday. Work ahead, you will feel much better.

Do your readings. For English, knock off some wider reading novels, for science, knock off some more textbook readings and write notes. Write summaries of each page. Type these summaries. Print these summaries. Place in accordion folder/binder. Flashcard the info. Spend like half a day doing this. This will take so so long, like, half a day, but it’ll be worth it.

Spend 1-2 hours going through the flashcards you made that week for each subject. This counts as studying, even if it’s quick, plus it isn’t tiresome as reading over and over the notes you did earlier.

  • Reminders

Please, schedule knowing yourself. Stick to a plan you know you can do, be realistic. Yes, you can read 300 pages of a reading in a night, but do you want to do it, since the test is tomorrow?

Organize everything. A messy study system is actually The Worst. You’ll lose time finding things, you’ll lose time trying to figure out things you should know already, etc. A clean and organized system is the best and quickest way to accomplish an A in class.

If you fail, it is okay. You are allowed to not being perfect. You are allowed to not get that A. You are allowed to rest. So please dont push yourself and drive yourself to the edge, I tell you. It isnt that worth it.
