Rudy Van Gelder RIP [November 2, 1924 - August 25, 2016]
The man behind many jazz greats has passed away. Jazz engineer Rudy Van Gelder has died at age 91. He recorded with legendary artists like John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and more and an impressive majority of the Blue Note Records catalogue. He was viewed by some as the most important jazz engineer of all time. He also worked with Prestige Records and Savoy Records.
Red Velvet’s Irene and Seulgi was included in the annual list of TC Candler’s 100 women with the most beautiful faces in the world for 2016 which was announced in a YouTube video yesterday, December 28, 2016. The list was based on the submissions all over the internet.
It’s the first time for Irene to be included in the list and who in which is placed 71st; while her fellow member Seulgi holds her position for the 2nd time around at number 29.
Congratulations, ladies! Special thanks to all the Red Velvet fans out there who participated on the submissions for the list.
Here’s a lesser known track from Clifford Brown’s Memorial Album titled, “Carvin’ The Rock”. I think this album gets its name from the team at Blue Note who put this compilation together as a tribute to Brown. There are plenty of rare recordings of some great tunes, most of which were Brown’s first as a bandleader.
