Princes Boris and Gleb on horseback, mid 14th century

This icon is considered as a masterpiece. Not only because of composition and plastics - the coloring is also unique. References to the icon can be found through all Russian art.

We don’t have a lot of examples of such an accurate depicting of the medieval Russian costume. Yes, the clothing is what I deeply love about this icon.

(and the nice story of princes Boris&Gleb, first Russian saints, I’ll tell you later - if you are interested in)
