Hair & Make up Pictures from Claire Pritchard’s meet n greet at Sherlocked Oct 2017. At the end of her fabulous talk with us I asked if I could photograph the pictures in the folder she had brought along, sadly I only had a few seconds to take them and the room was very bright with spotlights & the folder’s pages were shiny, but I’ve done my best to photoshop them better, also during the chunk of the talk with Sian that I managed to get to, she showed 2 other pictures onstage.

Sherlocked 2017 memories #18: Here’s some things I remembered from the con, that I was there for, but didn’t tell you in my reports: In Claire Pritchard’s meet n greet I asked her what was the idea behind John n Mary’s new look in  S4, which @gosherlocked had asked me to ask if I could. She said that Martin Freeman had come back from filming startup with this new hairdo, which he said he was really happy with it & she agreed that it did suit him. He had a consultation with her about S4 & he asked if he could keep it for John in the new season rather than them cut it, she said that he had really thought about it, it wasn’t just on a whim. She said that she wasn’t too sure about it, and that possibly lots of viewers would think it wasn’t a ‘John’ look, but at the end of the day they can’t push something onto an actor that they’re uncomfortable with, so she talked to Sue about it & they agreed that it was okay to go ahead with & that they could make it work storywise. She said that she’d already discussed with mofftiss during tone meetings that John n Mary should have slightly different looks (though initially only after the birth, but it was changed to beforehand to because of logistics of filming), because they were both moving on in their lives. And then they all agreed that for John especially, he was no longer so dependent on Sherlock, wasn’t living in the bachelor pad of 221b, He’d gotten married, was in this flat that had now had a serious building work done to it which must have cost a lot them of money to do & had a baby very nearly due. Plus he was leaving his army days long behind as well, she said how in S1 he had a Very military cut, which they’d softened somewhat, but was still mostly the same & he could now leave that behind too. So they worked out that there was just about (tho she did make a 'only just’ face at this point) enough time between tarmac & the first s4 scene for his hair to have grown out enough & they went for it. She said how important it was for actors to feel comfortable in what they’re wearing & their hair n make-up to put them at ease for filming.

However Martin did come up to her a week into filming & ask her if she thought he’d made a mistake by asking to have 'the swoop’ hair as he was regretting his choice just a teeny bit. She said that actors do second guess themselves a lot & this is quite like Martin, She assured him that it suited the character & that John & Mary looked good with their new styles together and that it was looking good on camera & she went over everything they’d discussed beforehand & Martin went away feeling satisfied with it. She said it did take more styling to do than the old cut though, especially on outside filming!

With Mary they wanted something longer and less bright blonde in colour, she & Amanda Abbington talked about how the wavy hair would be easier for a new mother to keep up & her hair was still slightly longer from doing Cuffs. So that’s why they went with that style. They should have moved on as a couple, so changes for both suited them. Claire said that she really liked the hair in Mary’s death scenes because it stood out so well against all the blue and darkness in that scene.

We Asked Rupert Grint 31 Rapid-Fire Questions About Himself
To celebrate his new show, Sick Note, we asked Rupert Grint some extremely important questions.
By Ellie Bate

31 Things You’ve Always Wanted To Know About Rupert Grint

1. Tea or coffee?

RG: Coffee.

2. How do you take it?

RG: I like it black.

3. Have you ever been mistaken for another celebrity?

RG: Yeah. It’s always… Well, it’s only Ed Sheeran. Oh, and there was a guy in Lord of the Rings – one of the hobbits.

4. Have you ever intentionally pretended to be another celebrity?

RG: Yeah, Ed Sheeran. I play along, I rarely deny it.

5. What’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told?

RG: My lies are usually quite innocent, there’s never anything major, but I did do this one thing where I told everyone I was in a Mr Blobby music video for Children in Need. It was from the ’90s, and there’s a choirboy in it who looks exactly like me. A lot of people still think that’s me.

6. Puppies or kittens?

RG: It’s hard, because I have both. Puppies.

7. What animal are you most like?

RG: I would say a tortoise.

8. Which Hogwarts house are you in?

RG: Officially?

What do you identify as?

RG: I quite like the idea of Slytherin, but I am actually a Hufflepuff.

9. What’s the weirdest possession you own?

RG: Oh god, my gauge on weird is a bit hazy. Most things I have are probably quite weird. I have a jar of taxidermy mole butts. And it’s got a label on it that says “molasses”. Like…mole-asses. That’s quite weird. I don’t know why I have that.

10. What’s your favourite pizza topping?

RG: Pepperoni or, like, Costco pizza.

11. What’s your drink of choice?

RG: Tequila.

12. What’s your favourite drunk food?

RG: [laughs] I think everything I eat could be classified as drunk food. I really like pizza.

13. What advice would you give to your younger self?

RG: Maybe think a bit more about your hair.

14. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

RG: I don’t know, I don’t feel like anyone’s ever given me advice. I feel like I need some advice. [laughs]

15. Have you ever freaked out about meeting a celebrity?

RG: I’m quite unfazeable with stuff like that, but occasionally someone catches me out. It’s usually people that really wouldn’t be a big deal, like Alan Titchmarsh. For some reason, I don’t know what it was, but he got me a little bit tongue-tied.

16. What’s the craziest fan encounter you’ve ever had?

RG: I’ve had a few. I think every encounter is a little bit strange. I’ve had some people come to my house, which is a bit scary because they always seem to know where you live. There was another guy, in New York – this was when one of the first Potter films came out – a guy in a wheelchair grabbed on to the back of our car and we pulled him along for a few miles. I think he was alright.

17. Do you have a secret talent?

RG: I can carve things into crayons. Almost anything. Into a crayon.

18. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

RG: I’d like to teleport.

19. What’s the most challenging role you’ve ever played?

RG: Maybe this one, Sick Note, because he pretends to have a terminal illness. It was quite hard for me to understand why someone would do that, and also keeping up with all the lies he tells was quite hard.

20. What’s the most fun you’ve had playing a character?

RG: I think they’ve all been pretty fun. The first Potter film was amazing, because I was a huge Harry Potter fan, and suddenly to be in that world blew my mind.

21. What’s your biggest pet peeve?

RG: I don’t know, I’m pretty chill. It takes a lot to really get me peeved.

22. What’s your most-used emoji?

RG: Do you know what, I never use emojis. I just never naturally think, “Yeah, this will say what I want to say.” Maybe I should, maybe I’m not that fun.

23. What’s the last song you listened to?

RG: It was probably something from the Hamilton soundtrack. It’s so good.

24. What TV show have you been binge-watching recently?

RG: I’ve got into – I’m so behind [laughs] – Lost. I never watched it, I always kind of avoided it because it was such a big thing. But I’m working my way through that. It’s pretty cool.

25. What was the last book you read?

RG: I haven’t finished a book in a while. The last book I read fully was called Rant, it’s by Chuck Palahniuk.

26. What was the last movie you saw?

RG: It was this really weird horror film called Be My Cat. It’s about this guy who’s obsessed with Anne Hathaway.

27. What would you be if you weren’t an actor?

RG: Probably something to do with art. I had some plans a long time ago. I wanted to design hats.

28. Do you have a favourite joke?

RG: I’m not a big fan of jokes.

You’re really serious.

RG: [laughs] Yeah, I’m really serious – I don’t like emojis, I don’t like jokes, I don’t like anything fun.

29. What’s your signature dance move?

RG: I don’t dance a lot, but it’s the Worm. Or some people call it the Caterpillar.

30. What’s one ambition you have yet to accomplish?

RG: I think I’ve done– [stops to think] No, surely not.

Making hats.

RG: Well, yeah, it’s on the list. Design and make a hat.

31. What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

RG: I’m related to Robbie Williams.

Are you actually?!

RG: I actually am. Very distantly.

That’s a claim to fame.

RG: Isn’t it?!

Four days later in London, McCartney began cutting the soundtrack for a projected film about the beloved Daily Express children’s character Rupert Bear, to which he owned the rights. Among the tunes recorded were ‘Rupert Song (Parts 1 and 2)’, ‘Tippi Tippi Toes’ and ‘The Castle Of The King Of The Birds’. A thirty-eight-piece orchestra and a boys’ choir joined Paul to lay down both vocal and humming versions of the rousing ‘We All Stand Together’, which would be a British hit some four years later.

McCartney was sipping a Scotch and Coke when the young choristers filed out, in a reflective mood; the song had moved him. Around midnight, a Cinderella moment in the empty studio when the gear was being stowed, he turned to Linda and one or two friends and told them that it reminded him of the famously trippy session for ‘All You Need Is Love. ‘It was that same vibe. I just looked around, and there were all these flowers and happy faces smiling up at me.’ Another sip or two, and he began murmuring huskily, ‘John… John…’ And Paul bent over chuckling, as though it had been yesterday rather than thirteen years before.

@juniorjum-at made a comment about anti’s who complain about the number of movies Tony Stark is in so let’s do a character run down for the main Avengers.

Tony Stark: Iron Man 1, 2, 3, The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Civil War. 6 so far, and he’s set to be in Spiderman Homecoming, and Infinity Wars. So in the future 8.

Steve Rogers: The first Avenger, The Avengers, The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, Civil War. 5 so far, only one less than Tony. He’s set to be in Infinity Wars as well so that brings us up to 6.

Natasha Romaoff(Romanov): Iron Man 2, The Avengers, The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, Civil War. also 5 so far (still deserves bigger parts and her own movie but that’s another issue entirely). She is also set to be in Infinity Wars and Spiderman Homecoming (not verified) so that brings her total to 6/7.

Thor: Thor, Thor: the dark world, The Avengers, Age of Ulton. Only 4 for Thor, but he’s set to be in Infinity Wars, and Thor: Ragnorak. So that’s 6, not to mention the Civil War skits.

Bruce Banner: The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Age of Ultron. Also 4 so far. He’s set to be in Infinity Wars, and Ragnorak, so that brings him up to 6 as well.

Clint Barton: The Avengers, Thor, Age of Ultron. Clint loses at only 3 appearances in MCU so far, and he’s set to be in Infinity Wars, bringing his total to 4.

Not original Avengers who show up in a lot of movies.

James Rupert Rhodes: Iron Man 1, 2, 3, Age of Ultron, Civil War. That’s 5 movies so far. He’s not set to be in Infinity Wars or Homecoming as far as I know (I’m ready to fight someone over this)

Sam WIlson: The Winter Soldier, Ant Man, Age of Ultron, Civil War. 4 so far, set to be in Infinity War, bringing his total to 5

T’challa: Civil War. Just 1 so far, but we’re set to see him in Black Panther, and Infinity Wars so that’ll be 3.

James Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier, Civil War, The First Avenger. That’s 3. Set to be in Infinity War, so 4

Scott Lang: Antman, Civil War. That’s 2, set to be in Infinity Wars, and Antman 2. Total of 4.

The main point here is that yes Tony is in the most movies but all of them are in a lot of movies that’s what makes it so cool and exciting. Your favorite character might show up in any Marvel movie you see.

Secondary Point, James Rhodes deserves more of a presence in fandom, and his own movie. Natasha also deserves her own movie. And the OOC version of Clint the MCU dreamed up is in the fewest movies.

Honorary mention

Stan Lee: Literally all of them. He’s in all the Marvel movies. All of them.
