Running while pregnant: What I've learned #4

Forget the numbers.

Suddenly, all those stats you’ve obsessively kept to record your progress go backwards.

Run more: Get slower.
Run more: Put on more weight.
Run more: But now can’t keep up with the pack.
Run more: But not as far.

Even though the numbers say you’re going backwards, you press on. And suddenly you find there’s bigger reasons you do this.

You run to feel good.
You run to think.
You run because it’s fun.
You run because you can.
You run to be quiet.
You run to feel powerful.

When it’s not about “progress towards goal of X kg or X min/km” you remember why you LOVE to run.
