running in the wind

listen: fight club and pulp fiction are good movies, i love them both personally, but if a guy (and you KNOW the type of guy i mean) says they are his Favorite Movies then u need to run. RUN. plan ur exist exit strategy now. if ur texting him then just make something up. “haha i gotta go now. it was nice talking to you. bye!” if you’re somewhere with him just leave. do parkour if you have to. run like the wind. get away from that man

One of the biggest tells that The Academy doesn’t respect animation is that “Animation” is considered a genre unto itself.

Animation is so much broader than a single genre:

You’ve got Westerns

You’ve got Action/Horror

You’ve got Murder Mysteries (or whatever the heck this show was…don’t look into it if you’re faint of heart, believe me. There’s animal death.)

Then there’s your crime dramadies/buddy films

And a LOT of Social Commentary

There’s Zombie Movies

Super Hero flicks

And of course, there’sChicken Run

PLUS the post that inspired this, going over all the great genres JUST IN DISNEY FILMS

Conclusion: Animation is a different medium, not a genre.

Hamilton Things

- Historically and in the play, Philip died at the age of 19. He lived through 19 songs in the play (Dear Theodosia through Stay Alive [Reprise])

- In his duel with George Eacker, Philip is shot on the count of seven, which is coincidentally the number he changed the melody on during his piano lessons

- “Mom, I’m so sorry for forgetting what you taught me” - perhaps this is a reference to his piano lessons when he was younger. Eliza taught him to count. Philip believes he miscounted, he believes that it was his fault he was shot on what he thought was the count of seven.

- Hamilton died at the age of 47. Including the Laurens Interlude, there are 47 songs in the musical.

- The ensemble member who plays Philip Schuyler, who gives Hamilton his blessing to marry Eliza, also plays James Reynolds, who blackmails Hamilton for sleeping with his wife, Maria.

- The “I know my sister like I know my own mind” line is sung twice by Angelica, once in Satisfied and once in The Reynolds Pamphlet, both with very seperate connotations.

- Hamilton is the first to introduce more intricate, polysyllabic raps (My Shot) as opposed to the simple beats used by Laurens, Mulligan, and Lafayette, showing his intellectual ability and innovation.

- “Fools who run their mouths off wind up dead” is directly followed by Laurens introducing himself.

- Jefferson sings in a jazzy tune because he is quite literally a generation older, in both his ideals and age.

- Lafayette’s increasing grasp on the English language is shown when comparing his verses in Aaron Burr, Sir and Guns and Ships.

- Angelica is the first to sing “look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now”, which Eliza continues to use throughout her life.

- Angelica raps at Hamilton’s speed because she is his intellectual equal. Eliza beatboxes because she supports him.

- “When my prayers to God were met with indifference, I picked up a pen, I wrote my own deliverence”/ “I take the children to church on Sunday, I sign of the cross at the door, and I pray. That never used to happen before”. Philip’s death drove Hamilton to religion, giving him something to rely on other than his words for the first time.

- Eliza doesn’t rap because she is quite literally given the most time, she lives to be 97.

- Not only did Eliza establish the orphanage, she also helped to establish the first school in Washington Heights. Lin could have included the words “in Washington Heights” as a reference to his other musical, but decided against it.

ii. we fall asleep under the same stars every night but years stretch further than the distance between our beds. I never fall asleep in her arms. I have never dreamed of something so much.

iii. a night of firsts. first time skinny dipping. first time breaking into a pool. first time seeing her naked. not a first kiss, yet somehow it always feels so new.

iv. she buys a beat up car and I steal my freedom from under my parents’ thumb. the sound of tires on gravel still sounds like running away.

v. the fireflies stop showing up when we meet. the wind chills and we both freeze in place. I thought time had given us a pause but he doesn’t stop for anyone, not even the young trying to fall in love.

vi. letters only mean so much and no one ever means it when they say “we’ll keep in touch.” her kiss doesn’t feel new and I don’t know if she means it when she tells me “I’ll always love you.”

vii. I loved her. I love her. You never forget your first but it isn’t enough. It isn’t enough.

I REALLY LIKE THE CONCEPT OF @the-vampire-inside-me‘s BATIM INKBORNE AU, OKAY.  Plus it gave me an excuse to draw in a style that’s totally different from what I normally do!

For the second image, I was thinking, “hey, so after the initial encounter with Bendy in his full demon state, what if Bendy runs out of strength and winds up backing himself into a corner, unsure of what Henry plans to do to him in his weakened state after Bendy attacked him?”  It’s probably totally innacurate to how things go down in that AU, but what the heck!  I thought it was a cute possibility.  (And then Henry would find some tiny human clothes for the little devil to wear, of course.)

Happy Birthday to the brilliant Haruki Murakami -one of my favorite authors and one of today’s most compelling, imaginative voices.

reasons why “king arthur: legend of the sword” is a good film and you should go see it:
  • the cinematography is AMAZING
  • the special effects are AMAZING
  • the soundtrack is AMAZING and does a good job of getting you pumped for each scene and involved with everything that’s happening
  • the actions scenes are realistic and characters are winded after long runs/battles
  • there is NO romance whatsoever between the male and female leads
  • several of the wisest, most powerful, and most important characters are people of color
  • one out of the top three most powerful characters in the entire film is female and is not demeaned at all by others on her side for being female
  • there is humor, but it fits with the film and isn’t at all distracting from the plot or out of place in plot events
  • shows how badly women in the sex trade were treated by their customers
  • mentions (though incredibly brief) the fact that men and boys were also exploited in brothels and the sex trade
  • shows the main villain of the film actually showing grief and powerful feelings toward his own family
  • accurately shows the protective instincts and doubt that come with being a person in charge of the lives of many others
  • there is extremely little nudity (the only nudity is fully understandable and is not at all disrespectful towards women’s bodies, it’s very modest)
  • there isn’t a single sex scene in the entire film
  • all pieces of lore about excalibur and the story is explained, nothing is left to speculation about how the sword ends up where it does
  • accurately portrays PTSD and how it can effect a person’s life

THIS FILM. IS AMAZING. YOU SHOULD GO SEE IT. SERIOUSLY.

Today was my first time ever running in a sports bra. I was halfway through my run and I was winded and extremely hot and sweaty and ready to give up. I took a breather and decided to take off my shirt to cool off and it made a world of difference. I felt like a new runner afterwards. I’ve been self conscious my entire life about my stomach but I just had to keep reminding myself that most people don’t care what my stomach looks like because they’re too busy worrying about their own shit than if my stomach jiggles or not!! A big part of recovery for me is recognizing that my inner world and thoughts aren’t those of others. People don’t notice every little thing about me because they have their own lives and insecurities, so I should not let stupid worries stop me from living my life comfortably!!!
