Harnier never expected for such a thing to happen.
A few minutes before, she stood next to the defeated Solace who laid on the floor, freed from the container that held her. Behind her, stood the proud El Gang, battered from the long battle in Solace’s Fortress.
She turned to the El Gang, a small smile on her face. “Thank you heroes,” She said, bowing, “You’ve saved us all. The El, the World, Elrios.”
The redhead, Elsword smiled and rubbed the back of his head, “Eh. We couldn’t have done it without help.”
Harnier continued to talk to the El Gang, the atmosphere of a battlefield slowly disappearing.
Suddenly, Elesis fell to the ground, panting.
Everyone turned toward her, confusion written all over their face before running to her side.
“What’s happening?” Elsword demanded, his voice trembling in fear, “Sis?”
“Ugh,” Solace’s voice groaned, causing everyone to look at him.
He stood up, looking at Elesis then at Harnier. He smiled when he saw Harnier, but the smile quickly faded.
“Solace! Did you do something?!” Elsword demanded, gripping his sword, his knuckles turning white.
Solace looked at Elsword, “I didn’t. This is probably happening because the balance was disrupted.”
“Balance?” Raven repeated.
“Right now, there’s two El Ladies; The current one and the successor.” Solace explained, picking up his sword, “Harnier’s time as the El Lady isn’t up yet, and the successor’s time is already starting. Two El Ladies at the same time will cause the El to lose too much power.”
“What can we do to stop it?” Rena asked.
Solace smiled sadly, “There’s only one way.”
He looked at Harnier, which confused the latter. Why was he looking at her in such a sad way?
Without a word spoken, Solace turned on his heel and walked to the center of the room where the symbol of the Sun was engraved into the ground. Solace slammed his sword into the center of the engraving and took a step back.
“Solace!” Aisha shouted, “What are you doing?!”
Solace ignored the magician and started to chant;
“The Final Blessing.”
Harnier’s eyes widened in realization, shock in her eyes. She suddenly felt fear, the first emotion she had felt in years.
“Solace!” She shouted, “Don’t!”
Solace spread his hands, his palms facing the ceiling as the engraving started to glow.
“The Sun, the orb of light,”
“Solace! Stop! Don’t do it!”
“El Lady, what’s wrong?”
“The light that shines through the darkness,”
“That spell!” Harnier said, “It would consume the caster’s life! Please! Stop him!”
“Oh Brightest Sun, I offer myself, my soul,”
“Stop it! Please!”
Elsword gripped his sword tighter and ran toward Solace.
“Save the world from Despair. Protect those who reside in this world.”
Elsword tried to knock Solace out, but a barrier surrounded Solace, knocking Elsword backwards.
Harnier sat on the floor, to shaken to move.
“With a simple sacrifice of my life, embrace the world in your rays.”
The engraving glowed brightly, causing everyone to look away.
Harnier felt tears rolling down her face when she looked at Solace, smiling, but disappearing in sparkles.
Thank you. Harnier. For everything.
When the light disappeared, all that remained was Solace’s sword with a necklace hanging from it’s hilt.
