Bottle Cap Salt Tabs

Another cheap and easy way to protect an area

With the salt hardened in the cap I wrote the rune of elhaz on the other side with sharpie. You could probably use any sigil or rune or protective markings for it, but I’m using the futhark runes because I wanna.

Then I’ve placed them in out of sight places all around the suite to protect the whole place and everyone in it.

The Björketorp Runestone & Curse

The Björketorp Runestone is one of many standing stones (menhir) located in Bleking, Sweden and is one of the world’s tallest runestones, measuring 13.7 feet (4.2 m) high. It is part of a stone circle with two other blank standing stones, with several other solitary stones in the surrounding regions. Most scholars date the runestone’s inscription to the 7th century AD. It’s carved with a type of runes that form an intermediate version between the Elder Futhark and the Younger Futhark. The runestone is inscribed on both sides, the shorter message appears to say “I foresee perdition” or “prediction of perdition” and the longer side’s inscription (pictured) translates as:

“I, master of the runes(?) conceal here runes of power. Incessantly (plagued by) maleficence, (doomed to) insidious death (is) he who breaks this (monument). I prophesy destruction / prophecy of destruction.”

Local lore says that the curse came true at one point. Long ago, a man wanted to move the runestone so that he could have more room to farm, so he piled wood around it to attempt to heat the stone and then crack it with water. The weather was calm with no wind at the time, but as soon as he lit the fire a sudden gust came and lit the man’s hair aflame. He dropped to the ground to put it out but his clothes caught fire and the poor man died in agony. The flame around the runestone, however, was miraculously extinguished, as if someone had smothered the fire.

Divination Incantation (for Centering and Focusing)

If you are like me, I have a lot of trouble calming down enough to meditate.  I have maybe put myself into a meditative state…10 times?  In 29 years?  But in order to read Tarot or runes, I need to be in a clean and clear state of mind.

Years ago, I came up with a small incantation.  There are three simple steps to this process, and it gets me centered and focused within minutes.

1.  Take your cards/runes/dominoes/whatever tool you use for readings and hold them in yours hands.  Shut your eyes and take ten deep breaths.  Completely fill your lungs and take your time breathing out.  Focus on all the static energy in the room and draw it in with every breath.  Pull that energy to your center (which is different for everyone.  Mine is at my apex, beneath my sternum.)

2.  There will be a stillness that surrounds you and that signifies the next part of this, which is reading this incantation:

When casting these [insert tool] from my hand,
it is power I hold and understand.
I will honor answers given to me,
recognize the fates coming to pass,
and that one day may be.

3.  Silently thank your tool and begin your reading!

There ya go!  Hope this helps.

Runic Magic or Divination uses stones with alphabetic symbols that are used to predict one´s future. They are from different materials and usually kept in a pouch.

Like Ryley and Ishani found out,  a symbol can mean different things , you need to pick the meaning that applies more to the person who made the question and it also depends on the circle it falls. Be it your “Self”, “Influences”, or “Future Events”. The combination of the runes that fell are the answer to the question.

✧*:・゚Remember that above all,  it takes time and practice. Remember to be open to different methods and always charge the runes with the energy of the one who asks. *:・゚✧

The complete Icelandic staves / Ásatrú symbol series.
(Artwork 2015)

Reupload of one of my most popular posts.

Each artwork is representing an element. They are presented here in the following order : fire, earth, metal, water, wood and air. The symbols are accompanied by stanzas of the Hávamál or Völuspá, written in runes.

Disclaimer for purists : admittedly for aesthetic effect only, as these runes are Elder Futhark and thus predates the viking era by a few centuries. (Let’s not even go into the subject of Icelandic staves which are even a lot younger than that). The transcription is also a wild approximation, again accuracy wasn’t a concern during the creative process.

The stanzas :

1) Fire : Helm of Terror

Cattle die and kinsmen die,
thyself too soon must die,
but one thing never, I ween, will die
fair fame of one who has earned.

2) Earth : Vegvísir

Happy is he who hath in himself
praise and wisdom in life;
for oft doth a man ill counsel get
when ‘tis born in another’s breast

3) Metal : Hólastafur

Hard is it in the world,
great whoredom,
an axe age, a sword age,
shields shall be cloven,
a wind age, a wolf age,
ere the world sinks.

4) Water : Veiðistafur

He welcomes the night who has enough provisions
Short are the sails of a ship,
Dangerous the dark in autumn,
The wind may veer within five days,
And many times in a month.

5) Wood : Varnarstafur Valdemars

An ash I know, Yggdrasil its name,
With water white is the great tree wet;
Thence come the dews that fall in the dales,
Green by Urth’s well does it ever grow.

6) Air : Valknut

Thought and Memory each morning fly
Over the vast earth:
Thought, I fear, may fail to return,
But I fear more for Memory.

Post-Depressive-Episode Bath Spell

A cleansing, purifying, and uplifting spell for the turning point after a depressive episode or I suppose any difficult period of time, when you want to distance yourself from past suffering and invite joy back in. **

you will need:
~ 6-8 handfuls of salt
~ 3-8 drops of eucalyptis oil
~ 8-12 drops of tea tree oil
~ 20-25 drops of sweet orange oil
~ 2-3 drops from a peaceful body of water like a lake, lagoon, or bay (optional)

steps:
~ pour salt onto the bottom of the tub in the shape of this bindrune (a combination of Dagaz/Daybreak and Wunjo/Joy):

You can also draw this bindrune on your wrist for some extra oomph if you like.

~ drop the essential oil into the salt: eucalyptus in the center, tea tree on the outmost corners, and sweet orange along the lines of the middle X, then put the drops of lagoon water in your right palm and sprinkle it over the bindrune

~ run the bathwater nice and hot but not scalding - now is the time to light candles or incense if you like, or any other beginning-of-spell rituals you may have.  maybe put on your favorite music, tv show, or audio book, whatever will make you happy and relaxed during the soaking-in portion of the spell

~ once the salt bindrune is submerged and the tub is about halfway full, stir the salt into the waters with your right hand while focusing on joy and relief and fresh beginnings

~ climb on in and soak for 20-40min.  let go, relax, let yourself really feel happy again after all those days in darkness

It’s always better in my experience to do bath spells right before bed or when you have a chance to nap afterward bc hot salt water can really take it out of ya.  sleep is restorative, too, so embrace it as the after-effects of the spell

Also, you can sub in any citrus-y oil or even zest or juice for the sweet orange oil if you don’t have it; I just happened to have a bottle from my sister, but the idea is to get the citrus element in there

I took the time to do this for myself yesterday afternoon and it was exactly what I needed!!

**disclaimer: I know you can’t magick yourself out of a depressive episode, this is for when you already feel yourself coming out of it for whatever reason, to sort of help you along with that process
