Divination Tips for Beginners

Divination can be hard and draining, it takes up a lot of energy. For those who are still new to it, it can really drain you and result in headaches and frustrations. Here are some tips to help all you beginners out with divination and how draining it can be.

  • Drink plenty of water, being dehydrated is not fun and especially not when you are using so much energy
  • Take a shower or bath before any divination work to help cleanse yourself
  • Meditate before big divination work to help center and ground yourself
  • Crystals good for divination and psychic work: nuummite, amethyst, amazonite, fluorite, and aqua aura quartz
  • Clear Quartz is a good energy booster and can help you feel less drained after divination
  • Drink some black tea to help ground yourself and give yourself extra energy for divination work
  • If you are starting to feel tired during divination, that is okay, take a break or take a nap. Forcing yourself to keep going will only exhaust you further and make everything more difficult. You deserve breaks
  • It is okay to use notes during divination, don’t worry what others say. Its not ‘unprofessional’, even veterans in divination use notes. Keep a notebook with you full of different meanings of cards or stones or runes, take notes as you go, write down your thoughts and keep it near you every time you practice.
  • Yellow is the color of divination, keep yellow things around you to help. Yellow blanket(s), yellow pillows, yellow candles, yellow pieces of paper; anything you can find. Purple is also another color good to help with psychic abilities and awareness
  • Herbs good for divination and psychic work: cinnamon, lemon, cherry, lettuce, grapes, orange (orange peel), mint, pumpkin, celery, lemon balm, catnip, thyme, rose, seaweed, star anise, mullein, mugwort and rosemary can all help you. Bake with them, eat them, use them in teas or keep them near you in a sachet or jar
  • Stretch and take little walks. Sitting for a long time can be killer and make you sore. Stretch your legs and take little five or ten minute walks during long readings and psychic work. Muscle and joint stiffness is never fun
  • Rather than trying to tackle large readings every day, do small ones. Like a few questions to your pendulum, pull a single card, draw a crystal from a bag, etc. Small daily practices can help you in the long run without exhausting you.
  • Open a window and let some fresh air in while you work, it will do wonders, especially since air is the element associated with divination work.
  • Keep a small bowl or cup of salt near you, it will absorb the negative energy about you especially if you are feeling frustrated
  • Moon water is great for divination: drink it, make tea with it, spray the room with it, anoint yourself with it, keep it near you, etc
  • Cleanse your space before divination work, again it will keep negativity away from you
  • Cleanse and charge your divination tools regularly, it really helps in the long run. Put them in the moonlight at night (especially during full moons), keep salt near them, smoke cleanse them if you can, burn white candles, use crystals/gems, etc
  • Its okay if you get confused and don’t know how to interpret something. Take notes on it and with time it may become more clear to you. Don’t force yourself to try to understand
  • Mistakes happen, you won’t always be 100% right on things. No one is, divination is not a certain thing. Things change all the time, its okay. Don’t let it get you down.
  • If you are tired, sick, stressed, or anything else and don’t feel like doing divination work that is fine. Its okay, you don’t have to do it all the time. Especially not if you are feeling unwell and tired. Rest and take care of yourself, you can continue practice another time
  • If you use tools in your work like mirrors, tea cups/mugs, cards, crystals, etc try to bond with them. Creating a bond with your tools can improve your divination quite a bit
  • You don’t have to practice on other people, you can do it for yourself and your own questions. Its an old wive’s tale that you can’t use tarot or divination on yourself, you definitely can
  • Try to get a good nights sleep before and after divination
  • Once you finish, treat yourself. Get something to eat, watch a movie or show you like, curl up with a book, snuggle into a blanket, play with your pets, take a nap; do whatever makes you happy. You did a good job and deserve some time to rest and recharge afterwards

So if Clary touches the sword, it’s activated right? Just have someone else, like Alec or Jace, pretend to be her while she pretends to be them. “Clary” touches the sword, ha in your face Valentine, it doesn’t work. Problem solved.

Looking for new blogs to follow!

So I’m trying to get back in the groove of things after that hiatus and well to be entirely honestly my dash is less than appealing to me at the moment. I’m not asking for followbacks or anything but I’d like to follow blogs that regularly post about the following subjects. Feel free to suggest blogs other than your own if you know any.

🔮 Space Magic

🔮 Storm Magic

🔮 Death Magic

🔮 Astrology

🔮 Norse Mythology

🔮 Covens/Cults

🔮 Rune Divination

One minor note I’d like to add. In the Witchblr community in general there are many common views I heavily disagree with. Now I won’t give anyone shit for it obviously but if you post about them frequently I probably won’t follow you. No offense to you but seeing some of this stuff is just stressful and/or irritating to me and is the main reason I went on hiatus.

Summer Girl

Hey everyone! I feel bad that I haven’t posted much fic in a while, so here’s an old Reverse Falls idea that I found in my wip folder and touched up. I hope you all enjoy it!

She frowned at the paper he held out to her. With a sceptical glance at his face, Pacifica accepted the piece of paper, movements hesitant. She wasn’t sure what she had expected – a rune, a note insulting her one last time – but it wasn’t a series of numbers separated by dashes. Ooh, maybe it was some kind of cipher…

“What’s this?” she asked, eyes narrowed when she pressed her nose to the paper. “Some kind of code? Or maybe coordinates? No…”

Dipper chuckled. “It’s my phone number. I…want you to keep in touch.”

Pacifica snorted and flashed him a grin when she saw his startled expression. A phone number was so…ordinary. It didn’t match the glamourous magic he surrounded himself with. A landline seemed out of place amidst telepathy, potions, and spell books.

“A phone number? I thought you’d use a magic mirror for all your communication needs.”

The look he shot her was positively withering. Dry as ever, he responded, “My sister broke our last one. She asked who the fairest of them all was, and she didn’t like the answer.”

Pacifica laughed. “Who was the fairest of them all?”

Dipper’s eyes softened, and he gave her a meaningful look. “I’ll give you one guess.”

He couldn’t tell if that was a flush that rose in her cheeks, or if it was just a trick of the light. He hoped it was the former.

Her hands flexed around the piece of paper.

“So, what are you saying?” Pacifica asked in a low voice, not quite able to make eye contact.

Her breath hiccupped when he caught her chin between his thumb and forefinger, finger tips gentle and soft. Dipper waited until her eyes met his to speak.

“I’m saying that I want you to call me, Miss Northwest.”

She was definitely blushing now. Pacifica stammered a goodbye and tripped off to Gideon, who waited beside the running car with his foot tapping and his eyes narrowed. Dipper watched their whispered conversation, laughed at Gideon’s fidgety anger and the distrustful glances he threw in Dipper’s direction. A comforting hand on his shoulder and a quiet word from Pacifica calmed him, and Gideon was resigned to silent disapproval. He let his cousin hug him goodbye, squeezing her tight around the middle, but he didn’t once take his eyes off of Dipper.

Pacifica wiped a hand across the corner of her eye as she pulled away, and she squared herself up to the car door. Her hands clutched at the straps of her backpack, and she hesitated. After a few seconds, she turned her head and flashed Dipper a smile over her shoulder, bright and a bit watery. Dipper swallowed the huge smile that threatened to break across his face, settling for an airy wave and the dignified curl of his lips. He kept his cool, even when he caught sight of the paper with his phone number crumpled in her fist.

As the dark car pulled away, he caught a brief glimpse of her hair through the window; the final flicker of golden summer before she took it away with her, leaving chill autumn in her wake. He used to relish the shorter days, the nip in the air, the heavy scent of the fire burning in the heath. Now, he longed for the kiss of high-noon sun and the distant hum of mosquitos.

His fingers twitched as if he would latch onto that receding glimmer of summer, as if he would pursue the car on shaky legs for that last glimpse of her. But the car disappeared over the ridge, and Dipper remained rooted to the spot, unable to move for the deep loneliness in the pit of his stomach.

Words to Live by

Shadowhunters fic. Jalec. TW: major character death.

Summary: The words of their oath follow Jace and Alec throughout their lives.

Read here or on AO3.

Entreat me not to leave thee

Five of Valentine’s followers have Jace surrounded. Just from the way they handle their swords, he can tell only one of them—the sandy-haired woman with a scar on her chin—is a born Nephilim. The other four were created by Valentine with the Mortal Cup, and the few months of training they’ve received are not a match to Jace’s experience. Still, the numbers are in their favor, and fighting five at the same time isn’t exactly…

Well, four. The tallest guy of the group has just been put out of the game by an incoming arrow that pierced his neck through and through.

Make that three. There goes the blond with the beard, with an arrow into his chest.

The others finally seem to realize something is happening. Jace can’t even blame them; the two arrows came up so quickly one after the other, almost as if there were two archers at the end of the hall, and not just Alec.

Title: At the poolside bar

Pairing: Fraxus (Freed x Laxus)

Rating: K+

a/n: I just really wanted to write something for my husbands again and spontaneously decided to go with @damasath‘s pool bar suggestion so here is something relaxing and nice (I hope LMAO)! <3 Also guys, check out her art blogs @damasath-art / @damasath-nsfwart !

The room was already drowned in bright summer light by the time the two men woke up a second time. The first time they woke up was when their inner alarm clock had roused them form their sleep, damn it, but one couldn’t say that it had something negative to it only. They had ended up conversing sleepily, cursing about the habit to wake up so early they relied on usually and then indulged in the realization that they had an entire week for themselves, in a hotel that could almost be considered a luxury before they cuddled and eventually fell asleep again.

Now their legs were entangled and they were practically holding each other. Laxus grumbled something and Freed was the first to move. Perhaps that was why Laxus grumbled.

“Hmm… good morning again,” the rune mage mumbled and nuzzled his boyfriend’s nose with his own, eyes still closed. It was so warm and cozy and it was a rare and pure bliss to wake up with the knowledge that they had absolutely no duties.

No work, no talking about jobs, no stress.
