While watching the season for the 3rd time - Sue me, I love this show (actually don’t I’m broke as shit) - I saw something important.
In the season finale (Episode 13 “Quinces”), at the end of Elena’s choreographed dance(s) during her Quinceañera, there is a brief moment when the camera pans over to Penelope, Lydia, and Dr. Burkowitz to see them clapping.
(At 25:32 in/5:25 left)
It was then when I noticed it: Schneider’s seat was already empty. (You have to pause it at the right moment and look closely)
Which means he figured out before everyone else that Victor (Elena’s dad) was missing before the father daughter dance was even announced and went to go look for him.
I didn’t think I could love him even more than I already did, But it fills my heart to the brim to see how much he cares about Elena and her family.
A One Day at a Time scene I really want to happen:
*“One Day at a Time” Season 1 Finale “Quinces” Spoilers*
Elena gets pressured into trying alcohol and while she tells herself & Penelope she won’t do it again, she finds herself drinking again.
Alex sees her drinking for the second time and tells Penelope. Penelope then confides in Schneider about what’s going on and he gets really worried.
Later he stops by their apartment and asks everyone if Elena and he can talk alone. Penelope understands and takes Alex and Lydia somewhere.
He brings it up to Elena and she tells him to relax that it’s not a big deal, she only did it a few times when she was stressed and she won’t do it again.
He then becomes very quiet.
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his 5 year sobriety chip. He explains to her that he carries it with him everywhere he goes as a reminder of how hard it was to earn. That he always knows where the closest AA meetings are because even now he still deals with the urge to turn to alcohol when he is upset.
Teary eyed, he tells her that the day of her Quinces was the most difficult day he’s had since he earned that chip because of how upset and angry he was that Victor left her. And it was only because of the chip in his pocket and the knowledge of how much he loves and cares for her & her family that he was able to avoid turning to alcohol.
After hearing all of this Elena and Schneider hug and he makes her promise that if she ever feels like drinking again to come to him even if it’s 3 in the morning or to call him and he’ll come pick her up wherever she is no questions asked. Elena promises and tells Schneider that she’s really lucky to have him in her life and that she loves him too.
I’m not sure if one of these has been done before, but if so here’s another! The first few are just questions about the show and the rest are more personal questions based on characters and episodes. I’ll see if I can send asks to as many people that reblog this as I can. Put in the tags if you don’t want me to ask a certain one, and feel free to ask me as many as you like! Enjoy!

I don’t usually make personal posts here, and I’m not sure why I’m making this one, but yesterday I spent the whole afternoon watching One Day At A Time on Netflix. I started watching it after seeing a post here on tumblr about someone being queer, and as the super gay I am I just had to check that out. I was not expecting to love the show as much as I did.
Sure, there’s gay stuff, but honestly, even though it’s the reason I started watching the show, after just a few episodes it became just a bonus, a the icing on a very delicious cake.
The show has super awesome, strong, independent, badass women. And it talks about so many great stuff. Feminism. Sexism. Immigration. PTSD. These are just a few I can remember now.
But most importantly to me, it shows a young girl coming out as gay to her parents. And it was so beautifully done. It shows a 14 year old girl questioning her sexuality, figuring herself out. Accepting her sexuality. Talking to her mom, and then her dad. And it was real. All of it.
And maybe the reason why I loved it so much is because it was so much like my own coming out. I’m not a 14 year old girl - not even close, I’m 20 now. But everything that happened on the show was exactly how it happened in my life. From questioning my sexuality, to “I feel more looking at a picture of Kristen Stewart than I do kissing him”, to the way my parents reacted. I laughed so hard at the similarities, actually. The first person I told was my mom, and she was okay with it. And I don’t know how she was inside, but I just remember her the next day being exactly like Penelope was. Like she wanted to show how supportive she was and not really knowing how to do it so just exaggerating? I’m not sure how to explain. Watch the show. And then I didn’t actually have the guts to tell my dad, but my mom said she would talk to him and the next day she says “I talked to your dad, he says you’re just confused.” And that hurt. Because I was not confused, for the first time.
So I guess the point of this post is to tell anyone who read to this point (I’m not sure if you exist but if you do, thanks for reading) to please watch One Day At A Time on Netflix. It is honestly such an amazing show. And to thank the show’s cast and crew, the writers, producers, everyone. I know no one will read it but… oh well. Thank you guys anyway. So much. You have no idea how great it was to see such realistic things, that I could relate to in my life, in television.
