You live in a small town surrounded by forest. It’s quiet and laid back; exciting things rarely happen here. Except, lately… your neighbours’ rabbits have started going missing. People are getting hurt. The townsfolk are whispering that there’s something strange lurking in the woods.
Being the precocious child that you are, you know that it’s totally your job to investigate. Before that, however, just getting out of town might be a problem.
Red Trees is a short RPG Maker adventure game with mild horror elements. It features custom music and graphics, a colourful cast of characters, and a lot of bunnies. It’s best enjoyed in a bright room with a warm cup of tea.
Actual Cannibal Shia Labeouf The RPG: A Horror RPG by Rindre is a short Horror RPG based on Rob Cantor’s song “Shia Labeouf” created within 12 hours using the VX Ace RTP because I felt like it, and to get used to VX ACE because I’ve had it for more than a year and have done nothing on it… until today.

Pixel Horror is a special genre that continues to grow not only since the release of games such as Ib and The Witch’s House, but also with games like Soundless Mountain and Lone Survivor, Imscared, and Deep Sleep. Thanks to these, many new interesting games with exciting premises have been cropping up.
Plenty of people have a neat idea to add to the growing list of in-development games but never have made a game, so why not take this opportunity to create one?
In the Pixel Horror Game Jam, your objective is to…
Create a horror game with a story in any engine
Use pixel aesthetics to convey it
Simple as that!
So… Why do a game jam?
You can get that idea nagging you out of the way.
You can learn how to use a certain engine.
You learn about time management.
It helps you build a portfolio.
You might make some new friends if you decide to build a team!
The main Pocket Mirror Team Has already released a PM Guide, but they were cool with me releasing one too. Mine is more detailed, and gives you some guidance on where to go (and has a few secrets you can find in the 3rd area). I also have a post where I point out where some Pumpkin Charms are, which aren’t necessary, but give you access to extra content later in the game.
The real credit goes to the rest of the PM team as well as the PM beta testing team for helping me through the game. I’m not the best puzzle solver, so I want to thank them for all their help making this :)
“Keep your memories close to your heart” is code for save as often as possible. You can go 5-7 rooms without seeing a savebox, so save as much as you can.
If you’re getting a “Failed to create Bitmap” Error - it means the game didn’t load the area fast enough before you got there. The best way I found to avoid this is by walking into new maps, not running (don’t do this at a chase scene tho). Feel free to report these errors to the PM Team @pocketmirror-ask.
