U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit participated in the kick-off event for Exercise Ssang Yong by sending amphibious assualt vehicles from the USS Harpers Ferry to Hwajinri beach in South Korea March 12,2016. Exercise Ssang Yong is a biennial combined amphibious exercise conducted by forward-deployed U.S. forces with the Republic of Korea Navy and Marine Corps, Australian Army and Royal New Zealand Army Forces in order to strengthen our interoperability and working relationships across a wide range of military operations - from disaster relief to complex expeditionary operations.

Waiouru turned it on for particpants of Exercise Sari Bair in Waiouru yesterday with sleet, wind and a smattering of snow. Sari Bair is the annual 1 (NZ) Bde combined arms live fire exercise. It is part of the JASCO BLACK series which involves 5th ANGLICO, US Marines and 16 Fd Regt. Our new soon-to-be Chief of Army BRIG Pete Kelly also popped in to visit the troops and see how the exercise was going.

Upon the death of Sgt. Major Jiggs (the Marine Corps’ mascot) in 1927, the Royal Marines decided to give the US Marines an English bulldog–Private Pagett. He was presented to the Marine Corps by Lt. Gen. L.S.T. Haliday, Royal Marines.
Since 1973, units of the Netherlands Marine Corps have formed part of the British 3 Commando Brigade during exercises and real conflict situations. Also, the 7th SBS NL troop will be placed under UK operational command as part of C Squadron, UK Special Boat Service. Together, these form the UK/NL Landing Force.

Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund Ambassador, Henry Cavill has today wished good luck to the Royal Marines Rehabilitation Triathlon 2015 participants. Over 150 injured, serving and retired Royal Marines will compete in a unique triathlon at the Commando Training Centre in Devon. This year the event also welcomes injured Marines from United States Marine Corps and Royal Netherlands Marine Corps.
