We don’t know whether there’s anyone on Tumblr old enough to remember the days when Frank Frazetta was the undisputed king of fantasy paperback illustration, but here’s a look at some of his most famous – and most rare and obscure – paperback covers that we’ve just thrown up on eBay.
This lot contains forty (40) paperbacks with covers by Frank Frazetta (with one – The Wizard of Oz – being a collaboration between Roy G. Krenkel and Frazetta), published from the late 1950s through to the late 1970s. Included here are some of his most famous covers, such as “The Death Dealer”, which saw it’s original publication here on the cover of Flashing Swords! #2, Luana, Night Walk and Thongor in the City of Magicians. Also included in this lot are some of the rarest and most difficult to find Frazetta covers, such as The High Side and The Reassembled Man, along with obscurities such as Child of the Sun, The Godmakers and The Secret People – this latter title of which we have represented in both editions. And speaking of multiple editions, we also have two separate editions of Witch of the Dark Gate and Rogue Roman, along with the use of the Rogue Roman cover for the UK edition of Golden Voyager.
