rose enclosure

You know, I’ve always been really confused about what the initial point of Rose Quartz’s were to Pink Diamond/Homeworld. Because, really, if the plan for earth was this:

then what is the point of having a gem who has the ability to create life the way Rose is shown to be able to do? And if every other Quartz type we see is built like a freaking body builder (with the exception of the gems from the Beta kindergarten we see in That Will Be All, but according to Peridot nearly all of the gems there “came out wrong” so…) and have weapons that can be used offensively:

then why have this single type of Quartz who looks soft and approachable and give them a shield as a weapon? Then this bomb came along and…I noticed a couple of things about that zoo. The first thing was these flowers on the door.

Five petalled flowers with what looks like the centre of Rose’s gem upside down in the middle. Does that look familiar? How about now.

These look startlingly similar to the flowers Rose grows on earth. On top of this, we have the room where Yellow and Blue Diamond discuss Pink Diamond’s death. When I watched this I couldn’t help but think it was strange that all of the Rose Quartz’s were here for some reason.

Like, if this room was Pink Diamond’s version of the temple, why are there no other gem types anywhere? Surely she didn’t only bubble Rose Quartz’s in her time alive. And if they were put here…in memory of Pink Diamond or something then someone would’ve had to take the time to move all of these bubble gems to this location.

Unless, they were already there.

Unless, the zoo is where Rose Quartz’s used to work.

The zoo is meant to be calming to humans. A place where they live a life of complacency and safety. Would it not make sense that the gems working there would be approachable to humans should they ever need to go into the enclosure? Would it not make sense that they would be able to grow new wildlife should something happen to the ecosystem in the enclosure? Rose Quartz’s would make the perfect guards for such a place.

At least until one of them decided she liked humans a little too much and didn’t want the planet they came from to be destroyed.

Sean and I picked up 3 tarantulas from a guy who came to Sean in Petco, found he was interested in tarantulas, and decided to drop off his wife’s old spiders.

They’re all gorgeous babies, and I am keeping a 4 inch female rose hair but… their enclosures are appalling. They are on paper towels for substrate without so much as a dig box. It is yellow from misting and never being changed out. There are dead crickets and other… I don’t even know, littered around the enclosure. Only one of them has something that could pass as a hide. They all have water bowls too large for them that look like they haven’t been filled in months.

All 3 of them are missing a lot of hair from their abdomens, likely as a result from kicking them out to defend from assailing crickets. The guy fed 4 at a time, dropped them in without waiting. These poor things are terrified.

Like… I know they’re not the prettiest pets. I don’t even think he wanted them, but it looks like they’ve never been taken proper care of. They deserve better than that. Please do research and take care of your pets. They deserve the bare minimum for natural behaviors.

A/N: This is part 3 of my True Intentions Series! If you need to catch up here is Part 1 and Part 2. This is one of my favorites and I’d love to know what you think. I really hope you like it and as always, feedback is welcome. I was also thinking about writing some new pairings. Maybe Bucky? If that’s something you’d be interested in let me know.

A constant, dull thud was the only thing you could hear. Wherever you were it was pitch black. You collected your thoughts and tried to remember how you’d gotten here but everything was a bit fuzzy. The only thing you had immediate control over was your body. You went through the checklist in your head: Am I in pain? No. Am I restrained? Thankfully, no. Am I hungry, tired, or thirsty? No. Then I’m ok.

You took a calming deep breath and realized the sound you’d been hearing was your own heartbeat. As you began to relax you further assessed your surroundings. You knew that you were capable of escaping almost anywhere, but you weren’t willing to put people in danger until you knew exactly who they were.

As you rose to a standing position, you carefully walked around the space you had to move in. It was a medium sized room with one bed and no doors. Of course. But that would be too easy. The walls around you felt like they were made of glass. Most likely easy to break as well, but because you could be dangling over a hundred foot drop you decided breaking the glass wasn’t the best idea.
Glass walls meant that you should be able to see out, or at least someone should be able to see in, like a one way mirror or something. But everything was still pitch black on your end so that meant someone was watching you. The thought alone gave you an unsettling feeling.

Ok but honestly that “what would happen if Rose went to the zoo” anon made me so happy, because I love animals and it makes me so happy to imagine how much Rose would’ve loved them, too.

She’d be so excited by everything. By the diversity, not just of the animals but of the environments, all the plant life, all the people. She’d probably try to go inside some of the enclosures.
