“You know when sometimes you meet someone so beautiful and then you actually talk to them and five minutes later they’re as dull as a brick? Then there’s other people, when you meet them you think, "Not bad. They’re okay.” And then you get to know them and… and their face just sort of becomes them. Like their personality’s written all over it. And they just turn into something so beautiful. Rory’s the most beautiful man I’ve ever met.“
Wash from Firefly reminds me so much of Rory Williams. The whole way that he and Zoe are married and he’s jealous that Zoe has a history with Mal is similar to the way Rory was jealous of Amy’s childhood-like fantasy of the Doctor. Both characters think that their spouses would choose the other man over them, but when it came down to it, Zoe chose Wash over Mal when they were being tortured and she could only save one of them, and Amy always chose Rory over the Doctor. Just a little comparison that’s been festering around in my head.
Summery: Rory and Amy spend New Years together in their garden in New York. When it gets to midnight, Rory has a proposition.
New York. They lived in New York. They had for over a year now in fact, but for some reason tonight felt like a milestone. It was New Year’s Eve and they were bringing in the year of 1940 together, they had their own house now and not the crappy apartment they could afford at the start, they had jobs and they were happy.
