Here are some photos of our antics at the RoosterSheep meetup today with Gus and Jordan!
The weather was a bit dreary in typical Wellington fashion, but we made do, cramming ourselves (with upwards of 80 people) into a cafe and greenhouse at the botanical gardens.
We got the opportunity to get photos and have a chat with Gus and Jordan, as well as a few people getting to meet Esther. Gus was apparently very pleased to get to go to Te Papa and visit the Earthquake House, which simulates the effects of a real, very strong quake. I also got to meet some fellow community members, who I forged some pretty good friendships with and were all amazing to spend time with.
We got to take a group photo and film an AHWU intro before going off to a couple of bars to hang out and get some drinks. Unfortunately Gus and Jordan couldn’t make it, likely because they needed to get ready to head back on a very long flight.
It was definitely an awesome day and I had a great time.
By the way, credit for the awesome Vav cosplay goes to pirenthevaulthunter! goefframsey was cosplaying X-Ray as well but I don’t think I have any photos with her, unfortunately.
WE PLAYED ‘CARRY ON WAYWARD SON’ AND I SANG AND HE WAS ON GUITAR AND I DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE I WAS PLAYING WITH HIM UNTIL HALFWAY THROUGH THE SONG BUT WHO CARES BECAUSE IT WAS PRETTY MUCH THE GREATEST THING EVER ASJDKASHDLKASJDLK

As Shinhwa Company announces its 18th Anniversary “HERO” Concerts this March with their familiar logo (in a new Orange tint), we’re reminded again how far this Kpop Band has come since their debut in 1998. It has been a long Journey littered with many obstacles, but our 6 persevering Warriors have prevailed and triumphed, so much so that SHINHWA has become THE undisputed ICON of the Kpop Industry.
After a brief period of individual Solo activities, these energetic and dedicated 37-years young SINGLE Guys are back again. What’s in store this year for this Group of 4 SHEEP (🐑Eric, 🐑Minwoo, 🐑Dongwan, 🐑Hyesung), MONKEY (🐵Junjin) and ROOSTER (🐓Andy)?
⭐The STARS IN BRIEF⭐
The 2016 Flying Stars Chart shows the SOUTHWEST Zodiac Home of 🐑SHEEP and 🐵MONKEY is blessed by the presence of PROSPEROUS Chi Energies labelled Star No: 8. This “White” Earth Star represents “Ripening Chi” and being the reigning number, it is the strongest and luckiest Star in this Period of Eight. At its peak, this number signifies “great wealth, admirable honesty and great nobility” and benefits most the younger men or the youngest son of the family.
An added bonus is having the No: 8 Star reinforcing the Home’s “Indirect Spirit” which is residing in SOUTHWEST during this Period of Eight. The Indirect Spirit represents long-term Wealth Potential.
NOTE: The number 8 becomes the powerful mystical symbol of ∞ INFINITY ∞ when tilted over, signifying “infinite” vitality and good fortune.
As for the 🐓ROOSTER, it turns out that this year, it is the luckiest of the Zodiac Signs as the 24 Mountains Chart shows its Home Location of WEST being visited by 3 “Big Auspicious” Stars which signify big windfall, opportunities and speculative luck. The presence of Romance Star No: 4 bodes well for romantic relationships and the possible ringing of wedding bells.

So there you have it ~just the enticing bits. There’s so much more interesting stuff but you’ve to FOLLOW closely and become bewitched by the Stars first to get into this “Twilight Zone". (Just kidding!! lol). Meantime, we wish SHINHWA and SHCJ (Fans) a happy and successful year, and don’t forget to rest well and look after your health, as the No: 2 Illness Star is in the Centre of the Charts potentially affecting everyone.
Rooster Sheep meetup was quality like 100% would do again. RT fans are lovely people to talk to especially when you’re forgetting names of songs and other people know exactly which scene you’re describing by weird hand gestures and half-assed mumblings about freelancers
The lunar calendar is designated with an animal prescribed to each year: including a rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, pig or dog.
Each year, the lunar calendar is associated with five primary elements: wood, earth, metal, water, or fire…..which is why the fire monkeys depicted above are playing with firecrackers.
The color red is for good luck.
Those born under the monkey sign are considered quick-witted and smart, adaptable and flexible in their thinking. If you were born in 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, or 2004….your were born in The Year of the Monkey.

Lunar New Year is celebrated in many countries such as China, Korea, Mongolia, and Vietnam. Though not officially used in the United States, the lunar calendar plays an important role in global timekeeping.
The calendar is marked by the Shēngxiào or Chinese Zodiac, which is used to predict health, wealth, and compatibility. You’ve probably heard of the animal designations prescribed to various years: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, pig or dog. Each year is also associated with one of five fixed elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, or water.
2016 is the year of the Fire Monkey, which is the 9th in the 12 year cycle of the zodiac. The monkey sign represents quick-wittedness and smarts, and people born under it are thought to be adaptable and flexible in their thinking.
For today, Doodler Alyssa Winans illustrated a family of monkeys in the traditional fiery red which matches the lucky envelopes families give and receive on Lunar New Year — and the explosions of the firecrackers.
