So I’ll live up to my blog’s name and look up all the ancient roman terms/references I noticed in #455 AD. I won’t mention any plot stuff here, but it may somewhat spoil you. Keep in my mind that this is basically just wikipedia stuff.

Sailor Jupiter used the Leaves of Oak to perform this technique in the manga.
While her attacks were based in electricity, Sailor Jupiter’s element was wood. Oak was the sacred tree of Jupiter, the Roman god of the sky and thunder. The “ki” (木) in Makoto Kino’s surname means “wood” or “tree,” and the Japanese name for the planet Jupiter is Mokusei (木星).
Roman Gold Taranis “Wheel’ Pendant, 1st-3rd century AD
In Celtic mythology Taranis was the god of thunder worshipped essentially in Gaul, Gallaecia, Britain and Ireland, but also in the Rhineland and Danube regions, amongst others. Taranis, along with Esus and Toutatis as part of a sacred triad, was mentioned by the Roman poet Lucan in his epic poem Pharsalia as a Celtic deity to whom human sacrificial offerings were made.
Taranis was associated, as was the cyclops Brontes ("thunder”) in Greek mythology, with the wheel. Many representations of a bearded god with a thunderbolt in one hand and a wheel in the other have been recovered from Gaul, where this deity apparently came to be syncretized with Jupiter.
Symbolic votive wheels were offered at shrines (such as in Alesia), cast in rivers (such as the Seine), buried in tombs or worn as amulets since the Middle Bronze Age.
Description: An attack Super Sailor Jupiter used by spinning around and shooting leaf-shaped blasts of electrical energy at enemies.
User: Super Sailor Jupiter First Appearance: Episode 154 Last Appearance: Episode 191 Type: Plant/Lightning-based attack Upgrade: None Item Required: Thunder and Lightning Antenna
In the manga, Super Sailor Jupiter used the Leaves of Oak to perform this attack. The Leaves of Oak didn’t exist in the anime but she did use her Thunder and Lightning Antenna to create the electrical energy.
The wreath that appears at the beginning of the attack is a symbol of the Greek god, Zeus, or the Roman god, Jupiter.
In the English dub, Sailor Jupiter would sometimes say “Jupiter Power” or “Sailor Jupiter” before performing her attack.
While Sailor Jupiter’s previous attacks were electric-based so that they are associated with the Roman god of thunder, Jupiter, this attack is a reference to the fact that the oak tree is a sacred plant to Jupiter. It is also a play on words for the character for wood (木) in the Japanese writing of the planet Jupiter.
