August Book Haul

Ermm brought a few books today…I’m a bit in love… 📚

Also brought a new copy of Anne Frank’s Diary from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam last week. Which was an amazing place to visit by the way.

Ginger Snaps fans!!! I have in my possession a copy of Fangoria from 2000/2001 with a pretty great article on Ginger Snaps, with some rare photos and interesting tidbits about the making of the film. They make a few mistakes, like crediting Chris Redman as playing Ginger’s boyfriend, instead of Jesse Moss. Still a really cool article!

myers-briggs personality types

↳ ISFJ (The Protector)

ISFJs, or “Protector Guardians”, are most concerned with taking care of people by keeping them safe and secure. They are modest caretakers who do not demand credit or thanks for their efforts. But while they are essentially compassionate—and in fact exercise more patience in dealing with people with disabilities than perhaps any other type—their reluctance to open up to strangers can lead others to misread them as standoffish. Only among friends and family may this quiet type feel comfortable speaking freely. ISFJs are serious people with a strong work ethic, not inclined to self-indulgence. They believe in being meticulous and thrifty. They work well alone. While they may enjoy taking care of others, they do not enjoy giving orders.

  • among types most likely to believe in a spiritual power
  • among types most likely to suffer from heart disease
  • second most common type among education majors in college
  • most likely than other types to watch more than 3 hours of television per day
  • personal values include a happy family life, spirituality, and health
  • over represented among MBA students and male small business owners
  • commonly found in careers in education, healthcare, and religious occupations
  • famous isfjs: kate middleton, mother theresa, george h.w. bush, and rosa parks

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA #24 Book and Frames

Hi everyone! That’s about it with PotO I’m going to upload on tumblr:) I will upload a separate post with a link to my portfolio page for the full project. Since this was done in school for 2016 Spring Graduation Show, the designs on my website is all I have for this project. There is a very little chance that this book will be sold, I might bring it to CTN if anyone is interested giving a peek into it! There is a higher chance that me and Grace might be selling ‘Higher than the Sky(Monkey King)’ at CTN this year:D Let’s hope that happens!

Thank you everyone who commented and sent me messages of love for this project. I have learned so much through this! Special thanks to my instructors Richard Keyes, Will Weston, Bill Perkins, Paul Rogers, Lou Police, my friends and family for guiding me in this project.

Steve: I’ve never understood it. I don’t get it.
Natasha: Then you have not tried.
Steve: Natasha, I’m a kid from the Lower East Side who grew up in poverty. It’s a form of elitist entertainment reserved for the wealthy.
Natasha: Pfft.
Steve: …Did you just ’pfft’ me?
Natasha: I did, yes.
Steve: Natasha—
Natasha: It’s art, Steve, and art is for everyone. But more than that, it is about the pursuit of beauty… the aspiration that within us all, we are each capable of achieving a moment of perfection… the right movement, in the right manner, at the right moment.

Contemporary Rainbow

Second Lieutenant Robert Fraser in the King’s African Rifles in Uganda (1955 - 1957)

Colonel Peddie:

“I think Roger had seen somewhere that Robert was running this art place. And so he went in. There was Robert Fraser looking at him. He went up to him and said, ‘I’m Roger Perkins and we served in the King’s African Rifles together.’ ‘Oh,’ he said, ‘well that’s a phase of my life which I’m trying to forget.’ Which seemed to me to be rather sad really, because for the average young man it would have been the most fantastic phase of his life.”

Alistair Fleming:

“There was obviously a bit of jealousy. Whereas Robert might have gone off to the top hotel in Kampala just to have dinner, the others would stay in the mess and would just go down to the club for a drink afterwards. They probably thought, Brigade of Guards, well, he’s worth hundreds of thousands of pounds or whatever. It was probably just jealousy, actually. I enjoyed his company. He was a bit of fun. He was just a hell of a nice person.”

Brigadier Karslake:

“Bob Fraser was very laid-back indeed. Very shortly after I arrived in Uganda an extraordinary incident took place on the Sudanese frontier in which some rebels ambushed and massacred a number of Sudanese officials. It was a very long way from the frontier, where we were based. The British Army in its usual marvellously understated way sent a company of 100 men to throw this brigade out of Uganda, of which I happened to be one.
Bob Fraser was also certainly on that expedition. I remember him being very much the old soldier–you know, he’d seen it all before. […] Blasé and laid-back were really what I’d say about him.”

Roger Perkins:

“I think the short answer is, homosexuality–Robert Fraser–East Africa–nothing, no evidence of any kind, and it would be quite unfair and wrong to hypothesise. And living in such a tight little community, you know, all bachelors in one mess and sharing the same bathroom and that sort of thing, it would, I think, very rapidly have been spotted if he had been making himself available, as it were.
And he would have been on the plane so fast back to London it wouldn’t have been true. I don’t think a bent bloke would stand a chance of staying there more than five minutes as that wasn’t part of the scene–cause too many problems. Must have remained the same as we all did then–celibate.”
