rock the flock

concept

God Don’t Make No Trash, but instead of the dated cliché “there’s a black woman inside the soul of every gay man”, Chantelle says something along the lines of “I have a little in common with a gay man. ;)”

In other words, bisexual Sister Chantelle.

Feb 8, 2017 -on a cold day in late Jan, two of the older hens…a White Plymouth Rock and a Black Australorp cross.. decided that rather than wander around outside in the cold with the rest of the flock, they would relax together in the chicken house, and enjoy the late afternoon sun that was streamihng in through the window -taken Jan 27, 2017

On this day in music history: April 30, 1982 - “A Flock Of Seagulls”, the debut album by A Flock Of Seagulls is released. Produced by Mike Howlett, it is recorded at Battery Studios in London from Summer - Late Autumn 1981. Formed in Liverpool, UK in 1980 by brothers Mike (keyboards and lead vocals) and Alister “Ali” Score (drums), the original line up also includes Frank Maudsley (bass). They take the name A Flock Of Seagulls from a lyric in the punk rock band The Stranglers song “Toiler On The Sea”. They add guitarist Willie Woo to the band. A hairdresser by day, Mike Score and the band rehearse in a space above the hair salon where he works. They see changes in personal shortly after when the Score brothers have a falling out, with Ali being replaced by drummer Mark Edmondson. Woo departs soon after as well. At Maudsley’s suggestion, they replace Woo with Edmondson’s friend Paul Reynolds on guitar. Only seventeen years old at the time, Reynolds unique playing style augmented with numerous effects including digital delay and echo becomes an essential part of A Flock Of Seagulls sonic trademark. When Ali Score returns to the band, Mark Edmondson leaves and the band’s line up is finally set. They begin playing clubs throughout England and land a recording contract with Jive Records. Recording and releasing the singles “Modern Love Is Automatic” and “Telecommunication” during the Spring and Fall of 1981, the band finish recording their self titled debut album near the end of the year. When it is released in the UK in the Spring of 1982, it initially does not make a big impression in their home country. However, pockets of support develop in other parts of the world. Having made a low budget music video for “I Ran (So Far Away)” (#9 Pop, #8 US Club Play, #43 UK), it begins airing on MTV in the US during the Summer. The immediately catchy new wave/pop song, grabs the attention of American music fans, and by the Fall the single hits the top ten in the US and number one in Australia. The follow up single “A Space Age Love Song” (#30 Pop, #34 UK) cements the band’s sound and visual image, punctuated by Mike Score’s dramatically coiffed hair, styled to make him look like a bird of prey. The instrumental track “D.N.A.” also wins them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1983. The album is also well received by critics and fans, and is regarded as an 80’s new wave classic. The US version differs somewhat from the UK release, featuring a shifted running order, and omitting the track “Tokyo”. Originally released on CD in 1987, it is remastered and reissued by Cherry Red Records (on the Cherry Pop imprint) in 2011, with four additional bonus tracks. It is also reissued as a 180 gram vinyl LP by Music On Vinyl in 2013. “A Flock Of Seagulls” peaks at number thirty two on the UK album chart, number ten on the Billboard Top 200, and is certified Gold in the US by the RIAA.

A man went swimming on Galveston Island, he left his watch with his shoes. A bird ate his watch and flew away, he chased it into a large flock of birds. Grabbing a rock, he started towards the flock. When a cop stopped him, he stated “One of those birds ate my watch, I’m leaving no tern unstoned until I find it”.

Ode to My Followers

Kat in the clouds by the rolling sea,
Rutabaga rottweiler rock-a-bye me,
Dreamers flock where seagulls fly free
With our two hands forging poetry.

Little pink rose with a lyrical smile,
Rutabaga rottweiler rock-a-bye me,
Deep as a kin of the Emerald Isle
In the ambrosial heart of fantasy.

With rhymes by the lot and prose by the day,
In the madding crowd crying ev’ry which way,
As our eyes hold the world with a crystal sheen,
We’re revving up the words in the evergreen.

Blue with the volts of an April day,
Rutabaga rottweiler rock-a-bye me,
Yellow with the sun by the month of May,
’Til red with the leaves of an Autumn tree.

Hives much abuzz with the prairie bee,
Rutabaga rottweiler rock-a-bye me,
Sipping from cups of berry-brewed tea,
As jasmine wafts through the breezy lea.

With rhymes by the lot and prose by the day,
In the madding crowd crying ev’ry which way,
As our eyes hold the world with a crystal sheen,
We’re revving up the words in the evergreen.

Lullabies, literature, tales galore,
Rutabaga rottweiler rock-a-bye me,
Musing with a stranger on the floor
Of the mystic labyrinth of a library.

Twirling on stage in an ashen fire,
Rutabaga rottweiler rock-a-bye me,
Frawling on the mic in somatic ire,
For relentlessly silly is the way to be.

With rhymes by the lot and prose by the day,
In the madding crowd crying ev’ry which way,
As our eyes hold the world with a crystal sheen,
We’re revving up the words in the evergreen.

P.s. After so much love from you all, especially in the recent months, I couldn’t resist the temptation of writing the following token of my appreciation for you being such loyal followers. Though I now indeed have over 200, those that are referenced in this poem are the ones that follow me the uttermost (and/or I’m a fan of their work). Unfortunately, I was unable to find a befitting way to fit all of you who fit into the aforementioned categories, so honourable mentions go to @mariacenzina@roman–empyre, @quietdissidentlyricist, and @mariposaheart. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

Suerte,

The first thing you hear is an electric guitar, but listeners are quickly exposed to the band’s secret weapon – the violin of Jerry Goodman. The instrumental opening track lays out the group’s bold fusion of classical and rock. Subsequent tracks, including the Ray Davies chestnut “Tired of Waiting,” add jazz to the mix with an unconventional horn section of two tenor saxes and a trumpet. Veteran English bluesman John Mayall raves about the Chicago septet in the liner notes. Like the Blind Faith album, this powerful debut is undercut by a too-long jam at the end.

Chapter Fifty-six

**The London experience continues … with a little help from Bad Company and the Dark Lord.  I just love writing jealous Robert. :-)  No smut (yet), apologies in advance lol!**

The stuffiness in the room brought a sheen to her skin, and Michelle reached for the menu, discreetly fanning herself. The paper was thick and rich, the woven fibers embossed with lines of gold. She hadn’t expected a dinner so formal and knew it was only a matter of time before it fell to pieces.  She covertly canvassed the table, sizing up the eclectic group around it.  Bonzo and Cole were already at it, regaling their corner with lewd jokes and raucous laughs.  Jimmy was somewhat insulated by his bevy of maidens, but Michelle could feel his gaze on her, as it had been since they’d taken their seats. Strange.  The thought receded as a line of waiters approached, presenting each diner with a delicate china bowl filled to the brim with mussels.  They moved in concert, a fluid display.  Very well trained.  I wonder if they know it’s all lost on most of these heathens.  She glanced at her server, a coy smile lighting up his handsome green eyes.  Yep. They do.

The men vanished as quickly as they’d come, leaving everyone with their new treasure. Michelle sensed Robert’s amusement as he prodded the shellfish, exchanging a look with Bonzo.  Trouble was afoot.

So I'm not sure how familiar you are with the first Devil May Cry game but I feel like Keith would be the type of person to be like 'Let's rock' or 'Flock off, feather face' since he, like, was all 'Good kitty' to Red. Save me from this dumb headcanon of mine.

NO IT’S NO DUMB IM GOING DOWN WITH YOU. listen pal, i know nothing about those games but im laughing so hard bc FLOCK OFF FEATHER FACE. I CANT BUT IM JUST. SAT HERE. LAUGHING. SMILING. DEAR GOD.

flock off  - definitely omg i can hear that so much. like… you know how he shortens his speech quite a lot to be even more direct so sometimes as a result it’s not uncommon for him to shave off words from standard sentences or clip things to be super super succinct? like - hhhHHH. okay no now is not the time to gush about all my dialogue headcanons sorry bc we’re talking about yours which is wonderful and god i love him, i love him why is he like this I LOVE HIM.

i started to make a list of random phrases he may say over here you may be interested + some other dialogue links. sounds like we’re on a similar page ;) personal favourites are “boom”, “let’s bounce” and “got your six”.

Ignore this fic.  Please.

I’m sure this idea exists somewhere else, but I’m too lazy to look… and so just wrote my own version.

“Patience is a virtue,” Lancer intoned without turning around, carefully steering the school van into a parking lot.  “Keep that seatbelt on until we come to a full and complete stop.”

Danny – who had been trapped in a tiny van with the teacher, Tucker, Dash Baxter, Valerie Grey, and Paulina Sanchez for the past three hours – scowled and forced his hand away from the seatbelt clasp.  Crossing his arms and staring out the window, Danny had a moment of pleasant thoughts about being trapped in the Fenton Thermos.  At least he’d have been alone.

Outside the windows lay the coast of Delaware, ocean waves crashing against rocks and sand, and gulls flocking overhead.  An old-looking lighthouse sat on a large hill up ahead.  The ocean-side town Lancer was pulling into for a rest stop was nestled into a small harbor, the tiny sign on the way into town proclaiming the place was called ‘Beach City’.
