This is Robert J! Lake, one of the dudes that made Homestuck what it is today. RJ made a whole boatload of songs for 16 Homestuck albums. Do you know how much Homestuck that is? A whole great lot. He composed my favorite Homestuck song, Softly, and deserves way more out of his hard work than what he is getting right now. If you enjoy Homestuck, its music, or all of the effort that was put into making it what it is, please consider giving back to someone who helped shaped it into something that means a whole lot to a whole lot of people.

Hey there guys!

You like Homestuck, right? And surely you enjoy Homestuck's music, yeah?

Well! Then you should know that Homestuck has a lot of cool people on its music team. Among them are Clark “Plazmataz” “the guy who made Flare” Powell, Michael Guy Bowman, and plenty of other talented people. The art team is also a very crucial part of the comic and WhatPumpkin!

I could go into all of them right now, but I’m here to talk about one man in particular. That man is Robert J. Lake! Now, RJ has made a lot of cool songs for the Homestuck albums, including my favorite remix of Three In The Morning, the best Calliope songs on the Cherubim album, Stellarum Salve and Green Lolly (which was a collaboration with Tyler Dever), Afraid of the Darko, Arcade Thunder, Jane Dargason, a personal favorite, collabed with Clark Powell… my point is, dude’s talented.

The thing is, few of his songs happen to have ever been used in Flashes, so he’s not as well known as Powell or Bowman. Does that mean they’re bad? Of course not! They’re wonderful and dynamic songs, and to me they’ve always conveyed a beautiful sense of extended universe, moments the characters experienced or would have experienced that we never get to see. And from the times they have been used in comic, well… it was pretty amazing.

So here’s what I’m getting at. Dude deserves financial support if we all love his music so much, yeah? Hell, all of the Homestuck music team does, and you can check out this extensive list of songs sorted by artist on the music team (which includes the gaiden/unofficial albums!) if you want to support the artists of your favorite songs. (Only know them from the flashes? Cross reference the song names using the MSPA wiki’s Flash, Sound, or Music Albums pages!)

But if you want to support Robert J. Lake specifically, you should absolutely check out his Patreon page. Patreon is essentially a service that allows crowdfunding, kind of like Kickstarter, except it’s set up with monthly payments of an amount you choose, to support your favorite artists!! You can cancel it anytime, obviously, but back to the point.

Dude’s making a comic! If he gets enough $/month, he can really get it off the ground, stop freelancing, and support himself with his own comic! So please, guys, please support him for me!

IN ITS FIRST HALF, IT’S A BOOKEND TO THE TITLE TRACK! RJ’S WEIRD ETHEREAL, BREATHY VOCALS ONCE AGAIN FIND A GOOD FIT! THEN, AFTER ALMOST A FULL MINUTE OF DEAD AIR, HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE THINGS START TO HAPPEN!

THE SONG BETRAYS THE DARK UNDERPINNINGS THAT INSPIRED THE CARTOON SQUIDS, OF COURSE (NO BETTER WAY TO CLOSE IT OUT, I THINK)! THIS ALBUM CAME OUT MONTHS BEFORE THE MEMORABLE FLASH THAT FEATURES THIS SONG! IT’S REMARKABLE HOW WELL THE ART AND THE SONG FIT TOGETHER: A COMBINATION OF MR. ROGERS AND H. R. GIGER!

Congratulations on Homestuck Volume 10!

Everyone has been working their butts off behind the scene to assemble it, just for you.

The list of people that went into creating it is absolutely enormous, and everyone has grown so much these past several years. It is very apparent that these musicians and artists have all become something astounding.

Homestuck helped realize musicians, artists, and raised all sorts of creative minds to skills beyond what anyone could have imagined. The full credits of contributors is astronomical.

Volume 10 is a combined orchestra of nearly a decade’s work of peers, partners, and professionals. It is an ode to personal growth, friendship, and dedication.

It was managed by none other than @spellmynamewithabang , Robert J! Lake, creator of Stuckhome Syndrome. (And now manager of Homestuck Volume 10!)

The music and art are more polished and refined than ever. This album is confident, powerful, and proud.

And I am so, so proud of everyone.

Congratulations on Homestuck Volume 10!

Stuckhome Syndrome - Unreleased Homestuck music!
Now being released, soon!

Homestuck musician Robert J! Lake makes a lot of Homestuck music, and a lot of it never gets released. That means there is an entire library of Homestuck music you have never heard, and probably would really want to hear.

You can get a ton of unreleased Homestuck songs, plus over 13 other albums for only $15 - and that is a damn lot of songs. Or you can pay as little as $5 to get just one album. That is a couple hundred songs, for really, really, really cheap.

Prices this low are probably exclusive to this campaign, so if you want to get Stuckhome Syndrome (and a bunch of other albums) for really, really, really obnoxiously cheap, you only have 2 days left to do it! Hurry up!

Get a truckload of unreleased Homestuck music here!

RATING: 7 / 13 – this activity has been a nice diversion

Welcome to Jailbreak Vol 1, the unofficial soundtrack for the brief webcomic of the same name. I rather like the implication of more albums to come for this 134-page comic, Normally I’d be 100% sure that this was facetious, but in this fandom, who knows.

As someone whose first real game console was an NES, naturally I have a soft spot in my heart for chiptune music. This album delivers a megadose of 8-bit fundamental waveform mania. Some of these songs could have been pulled straight from an old game’s background ambiance.

That being said, by no means is it perfect. It’s one-dimensional (duh), and it loses a bit of steam in the middle tracks. But it’s a fun album to listen to.

Since it’s an unofficial compilation, it’s available for full download completely free of charge: you can download it in MP3 format (as well as some bonus NSF files, which can be played back in native chiptune format) here from GameFreakDude’s DropBox.

If you haven’t recently checked or somehow don’t know about my upcoming 4/13 album of songs I wrote for Homestuck while I (and the rest of the music team, honestly) were way more active, you should do that! The album is $13.43 on release but only  $9.87 now, so pre order while you still can! oh also that purchase will entitle you to four hundred and thirteen songs, no biggie

I updated it with a bunch of things people haven’t heard, including this, Unsoftly, which is a track that is not Softly, and you’re pretty sure never quite sounded like Softly, but is probably related in some way, you think. And you’d be right, because that’s the point

Jade was always probably my favorite character (Dave and John very close seconds) and though I tended to make songs that were super major key happy tunes, this was an attempt to explore her darker, weirder side. She’s all smiles most of the time but she’s also kind of fucked up if you think about it?

I am GETTING AN ALBUM!

And who better to compose it that Robert J! Lake, my favorite Homestuck composer?

Thanks to your support and the fact that he no longer has to sell his guitar and scrape dumpsters for this month’s bills, RJ is finally launching his Indiegogo for a whole ton of great musical albums!

And one of them…

Is dedicated to me!

For only $5, you can get an entire album of music about and for me, Rune! Do you like me? Do you like music? Get a whole album of me songs. Make an entire Rune playlist!

But my album is the best!

GET SONGS FOR RUNE FOR ONLY $5 FROM THAT HOMESTUCK MUSIC GUY and maybe 14 other albums if you pay just $10 more

It’s hard to describe why, but this song gives off that ‘penultimate’ vibe. Really, like it’s building up to the end, but it’s not quite there. Like you’re on the eerily quiet path towards the end boss. Those weird stereo swishes are something else.

Yeah. Attack the elf that just granted you two wishes. Nice going, there, chief. Now why does this scene look familiar?
