1.01 - Ned Stark beheads a brother of the Night’s Watch for breaking his oath
1.09 - King Joffrey orders Ser Ilyn Payne to behead Ned Stark for treason
2.06 - Theon Greyjoy beheads Ser Rodrik Cassel after taking Winterfell
2.06 - Jon Snow is ordered to behead Ygritte but ends up not doing it

The boys Ned Stark raised all took the first lesson we hear him teach them to heart. How and why we’ve seen these executions carried have been very representative of the character swinging the sword.

The order is also interesting. Ned dies first, Theon as we knew figuratively died second and became Reek, then Robb dies… Jon could be in trouble… Bran still hasn’t executed anyone so he should be safe for the time being. Rickon wasn’t there for the lesson so he has the best chance of making it out all of this.


Last time I saw him, he was in the courtyard at Winterfell. He said, “Next time I see you, you’ll be all in black.” I was jealous of Robb my whole life. The way my father looked at him, I wanted that. He was better than me at everything– fighting and hunting and riding and girls. Gods, the girls loved him. I wanted to hate him, but I never could.
