iRob! Wants You to Lie

I’ll answer this Facebook ad thusly:

  • Yes, I like to laugh.
  • Of COURSE I like to win. I’m an American, dammit.
  • Take a whack at WHA? A virtual piñata? They MAKE those now?
  • I didn’t know CBS made actual comedies other than How I Met Your Mother.
  • What the FUCK is iRob!? Oh, it’s a TV show. It has Rob Schneider? Wait, HE got a show? And you want ME to attempt to win a trip to see where this monstrosity will be taped? It might not be on the air by the time I pack my bags, CBS.

I admire your persistence to get actual fan support for this… THING. Hell, 799 people on Facebook liked the ad out of pity, I’m guessing. But playing on people’s desire for thoughtless “comedy” built upon racial stereotypes on the shoulders of an increasingly unfunny lead that failed upwards is a recipe (probably made of tortillas, meat, cheese and salsa; beat you to the ethnic zinger, CBS!) for a disappointment to some and a bigger punchline for fans of good television than the show will ever deliver.

'The Lost Boys' Anthology TV Series in the Works at CW
Yet another remake is making its way to television. The CW has put a re-imagining of the 1987 film “The Lost Boys” into development, Variety has confirmed.
By Elizabeth Wagmeister

The potential series hails from “Veronica Mars” and “iZombie” creator Rob Thomas, furthering his relationship with the CW, as his DC Comics zombie rom-com is heading into its third season at the network.

Based on the movie, CW’s “Lost Boys” will be an anthology of sorts, looking at vampires through a new lens, asking the question: what does it really mean to be immortal? The series will tell a story spanning 70 years, each decade a new season – meaning the plan is for the show to go on for seven years. Each season, the humans, the setting, the antagonist and the story all change – only the vampires, our Lost Boys, remain the same. The first season will be set in San Francisco during 1967 – the Summer of Love.

Thomas will serve as writer and executive producer, along with Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz and Bill Bindley. Spondoolie Productions and Gulfstream Television are producing, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Warner Bros. Pictures was behind the original film, which starred Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, Alex Winter, Jamison Newlander, and Barnard Hughes.

…but will each season have a different cover of “Cry Little Sister”?

'iZombie's' Rob Thomas explains how he got Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas on the show
Fact, the showrunner from “iZombie” (who previously found fame as the creator of “Veronica Mars”) is named Rob Thomas. This makes him name twins with lead singer from the ’90s rock band Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas. So naturally the singer’s cameo on the series was bound to happen, we just didn’t think they would kill him.
By Los Angeles Times

Talking to the L.A. Times in the Comic-Con video studio, the  showrunner  and lead actress Rose McIver revealed how it all went down with the singer on set. Plus find out why Rahul Kohli disliked his on-screen dog pal, Minor.

How long did [the Rob Thomas reveal] happen? Did you guys know about it?

Rob Thomas: Rob Thomas and I have been in touch via Twitter for a long time because we get each other’s stuff all the time and we just kind of forward it to the other person. And he’s always been very friendly. In the [writer’s] room we were talking about initially that there should be a Super Max jingle, and could we get Rob Thomas to sing the Super Max jingle just to make things weird?

So I just direct-messaged Rob and he was down with it immediately. And then we thought, “Well what if he played the Super Max release party, that would be even cooler.” Rob was on tour at the time but he responded within the hour. And what I didn’t realize — and this was the best part of it — is that he’s a fan of the show. And in fact, when we sent him the script to the finale, he said, “Listen, is it OK if I don’t read this yet? Because I don’t want to be caught up, I don’t want to be spoiled on anything that’s going to happen.” And I said no, you’re going to shoot this before those other episodes, so I’m afraid there’s no other way — you do have to read this script.

Rose McIver: And by the way, he wasn’t just a fan, he was a fan of the show, and it was intimidating because I thought, “Oh my God we get Rob Thomas on the show, this is so great, how nice of him to come and pop his head in or whatever.”

He showed up, and he and his wife knew every single plot point — it was so intimidating. I’d sit down, they’d know Liv’s back story better than I did. They’d ask a question and I’d feel like I was in the hot seat. They’re like,  “Episode 201, what exactly did you wear, like why did you choose that outfit?” It was the scariest interview ever, and it was Rob Thomas the super fan.

When did [the idea to have the zombies singing come to you]?

Thomas: We were in the writer’s room breaking that final episode and one of the big ideas in “iZombie” is that if the zombie eats the brain of a human that you get their attributes, and when we landed on that idea in the writers room that  [a] Fillmore Graves mercenary would be singing Rob Thomas on the way out, it made us so happy. And then it was just finding the right song, and we thought “Unwell” was sort of the perfect song to go out on.

McIver: And by the way, the actor who had to sing that, that was the scariest thing. I mean the poor guy. He did a great job, but he was terrified. Rob is lying there with his gelatin brains falling out his skull like “N-n-n-no, you go, you do this one.”

Rob Kardashian's New Neck Tattoo Might Be of Blac Chyna's Name

Rob Kardashian may have showed his devotion to fiancee Blac Chyna even more by getting inked.

In a series of Snapchat videos posted by the 28-year-old pregnant model on Thursday, Rob is seen with a new neck tattoo that appears to be the name Anjila in cursive. Chyna’s real name is Angela White, and Anjila is how her named would be spelled in Arabic.

If, in fact, the 29-year-old reality star did get a tattoo of Chyna’s name, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s expressed his love through fresh ink.

When he was dating Adrienne Bailon from 2007 to 2009, he got her name tattooed on his left rib cage. Then, when he started seeing Rita Ora in 2012, he had the Bailon tattoo covered up with a portrait of the British pop star.

Earlier this year on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, his sister, Kim Kardashian West, made fun of his Ora ink, calling out her brother’s weight gain. “He covered [Adrienne’s name] with a life-sized Barbie doll of Rita that has now turned into a Cabbage Patch,” Kim joked. “Have you seen it lately?”

More recently, Rob –who’s been working hard all year to lose weight – had a run-in with his sister, Kourtney Kardashian, on KUWTK over Chyna. See why Kourtney claims her brother threatened to slam his “disgusting family” in public:

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna Talk Wedding, Pregnancy, and Whether They'll Give Their Baby a ‘K’ Name in Facebook Live Chat

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna are finally opening up about their much talked-about romance.

Days after the release of the explosive first promo for their new reality show, Rob & Chyna, the couple sat down for a Facebook Live interview, where they dished on their upcoming wedding, Chyna’s pregnancy, whether or not they’ll keep the Kardashian tradition alive with a “K” name for their baby.

“If it was up to Rob, literally, we would go tomorrow,” Chyna announced, in response to a fan’s question about when they’ll get married.

“We would have been at the courthouse, downtown, a long, long time ago,” Kardashian agreed.

“He wants to go there, but I’m like, ‘We need to do it the traditional way,’” said Chyna, who was never married to ex Tyga.

“'Cause I wanna turn up after! I wanna turn up on my honeymoon and I wanna turn up on you,” she explained. “But I think next year to kind of give you guys an idea. It’s not going to be this year. I kind of want to get my body back.”

The couple’s new baby was big topic during the Facebook Live event, with many fans curious to know if the pair will continue the Kardashian tradition with a “K” name for their little one.

Rob noted that Chyna’s 3-year-old son, King (who will be featured on the couple’s reality show) already bares the “K"initial, but the pair said they’re not too sure they’ll stay with the tradition.

“You guys have to stay tuned for that too 'cause I’m not trying to give up no more details about the baby,” Chyna coyly answered, while Kardashian offered a “probably not.”

Whether or not their baby will be given a signature “K” name, he or she is sure to be surrounded by a lot of “Ks.”

Not only will Kardashian’s sisters be featured on the show – “Of course, they’re my family. They’re my only friends,” he explained – they’ll also be babysitting.

“I’d probably let Kylie babysit,” the former Keeping Up With the Kardashians star replied to a fan question about whether Kendall or Kylie would make a better babysitter.

Chyna, who was involved in a brief feud with the 19-year-old lip kit creator earlier this year, couldn’t agree more. “Yeah, she can babysit the baby and King at the same time!” she offered.

While Kylie’s help is welcomed by the newly engaged couple, Kardashian and Chyna also dished on which member of their famous family gives the most unsolicited parenting advice.
