{ PHOTO SET: LAS GAVIOTAS, BAJA, MEXICO, part I }

It’s been a while since I’ve written/put together a proper blog post … partially due to my ADD, partially due to laziness, partially due to the fact that life has been happening at LIGHTNING SPEED (anyone feel me? it’s october for crying out loud).

Last month I flew over to San Diego to celebrate the grand opening of my best friend’s bikini shop in Leucadia. If you just have to have the latest + greatest bikinis, then you MUST check out Issa de Mar. (www.issademar.com) I am so incredibly proud of my friends Mel + Marissa for creating such a unique line of functional swimwear … in such a saturated industry, they are really standing out and creating a product that speaks for itself in surf and on the sand. <3

… but what’s a California getaway without a little Mexico thrown in the mix? I find it hard to visit California without hopping across the border for some waves + tacos. Being from an island, without the luxury of being able to drive to another state, let alone country, I can’t the opportunity slip by!

We had a very random crew of amazing humans that came together for 3 days of absolute mayhem south of the border! Tiny, glassy waves. Food for days. Exploring unfamiliar terrain. Laughing til it hurt. Creating new friendships, nurturing old ones. Traveling is unlike any other experience – I hope I never stop.

Here’s PART I of II, enjoy.

I am now in a relationship with my blog – committing to sharing my experiences, the travels, words of encouragement, and my lifelong dedication to capturing moments in time …

“Better Late Than Never”, it’s a motto I’m using to forgive myself for being too lazy (and scatter-brained) to take the time to sit down & reflect on my travels this year.
California is a place near and dear to my heart; I spent 2003 - 2007 up and down the southern coast, making friends I’ve become close with, and enjoying my independence as a fresh twenty-something. I return to the golden state often to visit friends and in hopes of getting “work” done, only it never feels like “work” when I’m “working”.

On this particular trip, my sister-friends Tara (aka Lady Slider) and Marissa (designer of Issa de’ mar) hopped on board as we flew over to visit Melissa (other designer of Issa de’ mar). Along with getting some “work” done, i.e. photo shoot for the Girl and the Water, picking up graphic tees for Roam Hawai'i, and preparing for Lady Slider’s pop-up shop at Special Me in Waikiki, we managed a surf trip down to Mexico for the weekend.

Traveling with my girl friends is such a huge blessing, I can’t express that enough.
