rini tan

While this is still topical...

Just as an initial statement, I’m pretty disappointed with the members of the online community who have been stirring up drama about Rini-tan left and right. Not because she isn’t doing anything wrong, but because I’ve been waiting a long time to accrue actually solid evidence, and with the increasing amount of petty accusations it’s less likely to be taken seriously or even put out there (i.e. blacklisting).

So before there’s no blogs left to communicate on, or artworks to build a case with because she’s been deleting them, I’m just going to present what I have and be done with it.

(1) She has been recycling her own drawings for a long time, and denying it even when it’s extremely blatant.

But who really cares… recycling background elements from a drawing you’ve deleted because you stole a character is fine. Using a base for references is fine, even if that means the comment in her description is totally out of place (I forgot I reused an old drawing?). So that means we can ignore the following too:

In fact this is almost admirably lazy. Even the sleeves match up! So what’s the problem?

2) This attitude has bled into her illustrative work. Of the six illustrated pages of her manga (including the cover), two of them have reused the lineart and/or shading of a pre-existing image:

But even if she has a terrible work standard, that’s not any of my concern anyway, right? Only the thing is, I don’t think many people understand how far this practice goes, mainly because it can be very subtle, just bits and pieces of previous works:

Which, in my opinion, this proves two things. First, she’s so willing to recycle (pretty shoddily drawn) elements of previous works that she’ll even botch anatomy in the process. This makes her progress between Inori Reference and Inori Doodle seem much less… believable. Second, even if she records herself drawing, that doesn’t speak for the integrity of the underlying piece. Case in point, she streamed the coloring of the Mega Banette Gijinka, but oh look a verifiable reuse of a hand.

But while this is pretty extensive evidence against her character, it doesn’t prove that she traces or anything else. However, it does help, you hair-trigger whistleblowers, when you try to present your case. For example:

Is this a coincidence? Is it not? Would you have thought differently if you didn’t see several in-gallery examples against her work ethic above? You decide! Though I’m done with this bullshit- if the last set of images proved anything else, it’s that she’s capable of chopping bits of other images up and using them in a new piece… which dramatically decreases the odds of finding a perfectly overlaying source image if she does trace. Combined with people crying “Wolf!” over kind-of/maybe overlays, it’ll just be passed off as a coincidence and not really be worth the effort. So there you go.
