Poindexter, born as Keith Vaden, is an 18 year old Indianapolis Hiphop artist. He began writing songs at the age of 6 and by 12 years old he was already recording at professional studios and performing at events such as “Star Quest” under the stage name “Lil Flame”. As a freshmen in highschool he adopts the name Poindexter and begins to regularly release freestyles over popular industry instrumentals. In 2012 he released 2 all original projects “Dexter’s Laboratory Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. He has worked with many Indianapolis Hiphop artists such as Didda Joe, Ejaaz, Woogie, and Riko V. From 2013 to present, Poindexter has been very busy performing at venues throughout Indiana, everywhere from the IU-Bloomingtion, Ball State campuses, to the Emerson and Walker Theaters, and even the Hoosier Dome and Beale St. In March 2014 Poindexter performed at SXSW, even capturing the attention of NPR Music photographers there to cover the events. Even with all this going on, Poindexter has still found time to write and record an all original album called "Legendary” released weeks before his high school graduation.
“Legendary” was released May 18th 2014 to critical acclaim from the Indianapolis Hiphop community and music blogs. It is a 13 track album recorded in the city’s best studios with the region’s top producers. It is truly an introspective album that tells a story about life and growing up in the world today.
