Made him proud
  • Fandom: Harry Potter
  • Pairing: Severus Snape x [Ravenclaw] reader
  • Genres: Fatherly platonic fluff, themes of bullying, angst, more platonic fluff
  • Request: Anonymous - I’m not sure if this still goes with your rules but I would like a request a Snape x student!reader. The reader is a first year Ravenclaw and one day after potions, Snape sees her being bullied by a group of students from another house and remembers when he was bullied himself when he was younger. He scares off the bullies and brings her in the classroom to talk about the situation. Over time he becomes a like a father figure to her. Platonic fluff. Sorry if this doesn’t fit with your rules!

said: Rationally I know it’s supposed to tie everything together that Elinor gets the sweepingly romantic story and Marianne makes the rational dispassionate choice and I get that Alan Rickman is a persuasive argument but like. SO MUCH SIGHING.

Okay, the fact that I never consciously realized that until just now makes me SO EMBARRASSED. Good point!! And I really like the Colonel Brandons in both the 1995 and 2008 adaptations, and I think Marianne/Brandon has so much potential, but I wish there was a little bit more interaction between them in the book. (Or, like, any. Is there much of any??) At least it is a pairing that translates well in adaptations?

said: Ok but my fav trope to write, fic wise, is ‘they didn’t love each other when they got married but they eventually did.’ Possibly why my ship of choice in pirates of the Caribbean was norrington/Elizabeth.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE TROPE AS WELL (and way back in ye olde days I dabbled a bit in extremely emotional Norrington/Elizabeth fic myself! HOLLA!). So, like, I totally respect that this pairing has so much potential for awesomeness. But I wish there was more of it in the text! Sigh.

Which, speaking of: are there any glorious Marianne/Brandon fics out there? I feel like there must be.

Alan Rickman has revealed he has married his highschool sweetheart after 50 years together.
The 69-year-old actor and director has been in a relationship with Rima Horton, 68, since they met when he was 19 and she was 18, and they have lived together in London for 50 years.
But Alan has now revealed to German newspaper Bild that they recently tied the knot in secret.
Asked by the reporter what the secret was to his successful relationship, even though he wasn’t married, Alan replied: “We are married, just recently.
“It was great because no one was there. After the wedding in New York, we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and ate lunch.”

I’m pretty sure I’m the only person on earth who was a Galaxy Quest fan BEFORE becoming a Harry Potter fan...

…so, in my mind, this guy

will always be this guy

and as I’ve been watching the Harry Potter movies for the first time, I can’t help but imagine Snape saying Galaxy Quest things and it makes the scenes he’s in a lot funnier than they should be. xD
