Yoongi x Reader

Genre: Not really angst or fluff…I don’t really know

Summary: It was weird seeing him again. It was even weird knowing you’d be working with him, but you kinda had a feeling like it was going to be okay.

Word Count: 1721

Warning: like one use of the f-word…does this really require a warning?

“You wanted to see me?”

“Ah, Yoongi. Yes, please take a seat.” Yoongi gladly accepted Bang PD’s offer and took a seat in front of his desk, “I wanted to talk to you about something. You see, I owe a friend a favor.”

Psh ‘favor’, Yoongi thought, Bang PD must’ve lost another bet again. He really should stop betting while he’s drunk.

“He needs help with something, and I think you’d be able to provide help.”

“What kind of help?”

“Well, you mentioned how wanted to try to produce for other artists. Since promotions are finished, and Bangtan isn’t working on another album yet, I thought I could give you an opportunity to help produce a song for another group.”

“Group? As in another idol group? Who…”

“You know 2S? The group under Music Box Entertainment?” Of course Yoongi knew, “They need help with a title track, and I offered to allow one of my producers to go do some sort of collaboration. So, how about it?”

Yoongi took in what Bang PD had to say. It was true, BTS wasn’t working on new music yet and he did want to try to produce for another artist. But he didn’t know how to feel about seeing…you. He knew this was a good opportunity to expand his credentials and gain more experience, but was it worth opening up a wound from years ago?

my favorite things about long running anime:

  • actual eras with distinctive art styles.
  • really really good animation and really really bad animation, all in the same show.
  • “how many VAs have died so far?”
  • no one even knows what the plot is anymore. it’s all lost in the distant past, like valentine’s day.
  • they have animated the same opening images a dozen times by now, and somehow they keep getting worse at it.
  • that one part that you will never forget because it was so incredibly bad it is seared into your mind for the rest of your life.
  • cell animation and computer animation can be compared in a way that they can’t for any show that was purely one or the other.
  • that period after Attack on Titan blew up and everything was stylistically thick lines. everything.
  • jokes/complaints that don’t even make sense to you anymore. like octopus hair. I rewatched the octopus hair earlier, and I have no idea why I decided it was octopus hair. I mean it wasn’t good, but it wasn’t exactly the “his hair looks like tentacles” that I remember either.
  • that one anime original episode that you actually like and will defend to your dying breath as evidence that the anime team is not completely creatively bankrupt after fifteen goddamn years.
  • literally watching the effects of years of changes to the anime industry over the course of one show. hey, remember when different directors worked on different episodes all at once, and so the style and animation quality veered wildly from episode to episode? good times. terrible times.
  • early episodes whose entire plots could be fixed by cell phones. later episodes where everyone has smartphones. the main character is still seven years old. somewhere, a portable fax machine disguised as a bentobox is crying.
Moments of Truth: Oliver's S1 & S2 Queen Mansion Love Confessions

It was recently brought to my attention that the S1 finale scene between Laurel & Oliver and the S2 finale scene between Felicity & Oliver both took place at the Queen mansion.  Not just the same place - they were the exact same spot, the entryway of the Queen mansion. Coincidence? Sure, absolutely it could be.  Is it probable? No. Mostly because that’s just less fun.

Why were these two romantic scenes filmed in the exact same spot? What were the writers trying to say?  A LOT….so let’s dig in. I’m breaking down two major scenes, so this may get long but hang in there with me. I do have a point.  Thanks to the Anon who asked me to analyze the two scenes, I’ll do my very best.

anonymous asked:

Wait has anyone done a Richonne timeline like how they were getting to know each other S3, became an open door in 'Clear" became friends, bestfriend, in like with each other, a family, and finally a relationship?? Like I would love for someone to do that because you all are the best ever in life with the breakdowns and analysis of Richonne.. also I would love for someone to ask Andy about it so we can know when Rick felt like yeah we are good friends etc...

My friend, let me see if I can help you out. Here and here are good sources for a very by-the-books analysis of Rick and Michonne’s relationship, starting from the end of 3x06 (when they first met and when a lot of us first started shipping them). It’s a very cut and dry explanation of what happened, being as the links are literally 1) a plot synopsis of each episode showing their progression and 2) a concise but effective summation of their entire relationship, which perfectly displays their evolution from strangers, to friends, to best friends, to parents, to two people in love. (Which, after reading ur ask, is something I think you would be highly interested in, and the video is honestly flawless/one of my favorites, so I highly, highly recommend it.) and also it existed!!! before they were canon!!! their love has always been so obvious!!! yay them!!! yay us!!! validation!!!

I also know there was an actual movie-type video that I saw floating around on Tumblr a while ago which put together literally every scene between Rick and Michonne (and maybe Michonne and Carl?) to show the progression of their relationship, although I don’t know if it’s still around or not. I sadly wasn’t able to find it.

However, if you’re looking for, say, another Richonne blog’s take/in-depth explanation of Rick and Michonne’s character and relationship development in chronological order via important episodes and lines of dialogue and thangs, I know I’ve seen (and liked and reblogged) other people’s posts like that, although I unfortunately haven’t found anything that goes too in-depth (probably because it would take up half a lifetime to complete). Although, now that I think about it, it might be fun to go back and rewatch their seasons together and write about the importance of what’s happening an episode at a time… Hmm… I mean, I’m pretty sure others have done it already. (For example, I know for a fact that Clear has been written extensively about [cuz duh – can u say “copious amounts of sexual tension” or “mother-son bonding time”???], and that I for one received an A+ on a project I did in regards to interracial relationships on TWD. I was going to get into Gleggie at some point, but ran out of time and obvi had enough material with just Richonne. Yeah….that’s literally my life. And, you know, not to brag or anything, but may I just say, I went off.)

AND NOW, IN REGARDS TO ANYONE READING THIS (YES, YOU!!! YOU READING THIS!): if you have any links to anyone’s Richonne posts or videos or vlogs or anything that’s along the lines of what’s been mentioned above, please reblog and add them!!! Make sure to include ur own lovely creations that u worked so hard on!!! I feel like we could all use a masterpost of the evolution of Richonne!! I know anon and I rlly want to read them!!! They’re seriously the best things!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!

Also, about Andy’s thoughts on what Rick thinks about Richonne: fret not, little one, for I believe the longer Richonne is around, and the more Rick and Michonne open up to each other about their thoughts and pasts and hopes and heartbreaks, the more likely it is that either on the show or in an interview they’ll start to discuss when these feelings first emerged, and elaborate on when and how that happened, as well as go a little more in depth on what they both meant when they said things like what appeared in this snippet of an International Business Times article:

“In a behind-the-scenes interview for the upcoming “Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season,” Gurira says she thinks her character, Michonne, has been “in love” with Lincoln’s character, Rick, for some time. Lincoln agrees, saying that he thinks it was “natural” for the characters to explore a more intimate connection. “I kept thinking, ‘Of course, it’s been right in front of me all the time.’ […] ‘It felt like a grown-up relationship that was always meant to be.’”

Also, I’d like to quickly address something just while we’re on the subject. After making my post about why I think Rick is a good (more like perfect) fit for Michonne, lots of people came up to me asking me for Andy Lincoln’s thoughts on the whole thing, even though 1) google exists, and I suggest you take full advantage of that and 2) the post itself was clearly not the right place for Andy to be getting involved. It was all about their relationship from Michonne’s perspective, and thus warranted only Danai’s thoughts on their character arcs/progression, not Andrew’s. She is a real, valid character, who is very underappreciated in fandom (if you ask me and a lot of others), and for many people their favorite character on the show - and rightfully so. She is strong, she is smart, she is soft, she is complex, she is a viable love interest. Please try not to make everything about ur fav, because it tends to push away someone else’s. Rick is not the only one involved in their relationship (obviously). Please stop making everything about him. There are already hundreds of thousands of posts/interviews out there just like that if you wanted to read up on them: about how Michonne is good for Rick, what she brings out of him, etc. Trust me, they’re there if you really want to look, but that wasn’t the question I was being asked to answer so it never came up.

That being said, there is a reason why Andy (and his mom) are the best captains a ship could ever ask for. Like honestly, before Richonne became canon (ugh, remember what an angsty, desperate, hellish place the world was back then?), he was the one who got me through it because I knew that beautiful man was never going to let it go. Andrew has repeatedly gone out of his way to bring up Rick and Michonne’s relationship (despite no one even remotely asking him about it), and often through the thinly-veiled excuse of his mom’s shipping of them, before finally getting fed up with everyone’s years of brushing him aside which led to him flat-out stating, just TO BE CLEAR FOR THE THOUSANDTH MILLIONTH TIME, “That’s what I want it to be. I want Michonne and Rick to get together.” Ahhhhhh. God bless him. He wasn’t going to give it up until it went canon. Danai could keep her cool, but Andy…

Just look at him light up every time someone so much as mentions them getting together, or the way he defends the idea at every possible chance he is given, or the way he interjects Danai CONSTANTLY just to talk about her and Rick’s relationship. Guys, he’s so obviously smitten with Richonne.

I mean, when one half of ur otp and THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE MOST-WATCHED SHOW ON PLANET EARTH wants something to happen, it has a lot of sway over what’s going to happen. And if he saw that it made sense to him, and he thought it was the right place for his character to be, who’s going to tell him otherwise? Guys. He IS Rick. He knows that “he trusts her with his life, and with his children’s lives” and that “[they both have] a deep respect and a deep love for one another.” (ugh, just watch the video, it’ll help you sleep better at night).

SO IN SUMMARY: Andy never shut his mouth up about Richonne, using his privilege and his power to will it into being (cuz rlly, what could they do? fire him???? he had the upper hand and used it to his/all of our advantage), and now look where we are. In canon bliss.

P.S. “Like I would love for someone to do that because you all are the best ever in life with the breakdowns and analysis of Richonne.” I agree, there are so many great tumblrs out there that are always coming through with their interpretations of Richonne scenes and their beautiful second-by-second depictions of Richonne kisses that make me squeal <3 And the fact that I am a part of this “you all” is just… like….. the best thing to ever happen to me??? thank you??? I think I love you???? but it’s whatever

LONG Sailor Moon rant

I’m going to put myself out on a limb, and hope that it doesn’t break under my weight.

But I like Sailor Moon. All of it. Even Sailor Moon Crystal.

I’m a die hard fan of the literary versions of stories, and I still love the nonsensical ridiculousness and the extreme off the path episode plot lines that the 90s show had.

I pick apart and analyze everything, and I’m still ok with how Sailor Moon Crystal looks.  Some of my favorite screenshots are of the “pre-edited” aired day one shots. (I will admit that the moonstick when it should have been the moonrod was a big oops.)

To me, I think the show is getting too much hate… in particular it seems to be from Westerners too. I think people were so infatuated with the 90s show that they easily gloss over mistakes/bad writing/bad animation that the original show had. Can you imagine if the internet was back then like how it is now?

The show may not have made it 200 episodes if everyone was criticizing it in real time.  Go back and watch some of the episodes, particularly  episodes that don’t progress the story further.. some of those episodes are down right terribly animated. But I still love it regardless.

I’ve read gripes about the scouts being too thin, but I do believe that it’s skewed by our culture’s shifting view on body image… (There is a definite backlash and passive aggressive behavior towards thin people in our society right now) I will try to find the screen shots, but if I remember correctly: In the episode where Sailor Jupiter (Makoto Kino) goes up into the mountains to train with a monk, the girls in that episode were SUPER thin. I was smashing sandwiches against my TV trying to feed them.

There are times where I’m like “Holy crap Legs” but it doesn’t bother me that much because it’s similar in style to the manga. Takeuchi’s style seems to be emphasized waist and hourglass figure with 5 mile long legs. (Oh how I wished I could have legs like that when I was a little girl.  But I’ve accepted my hobbit legs because we’re all beautiful being wabi sabi.)

My story does differ from most other moonies, so I wonder if that is why I feel the way I do.

When I was growing up, I was extremely poor.. (well not that I have money now.. I’m just not food stamp poor anymore.) I was first introduced to Sailor Moon like everyone else, it just showed up on TV one day. Me(being a huge tomboy) hesitantly watched an episode out of the corner of my eye, but that was all it took. I was hooked.

It made me, feel.. a whole bunch of emotions that I still don’t fully comprehend.. but I remember feeling happy seeing that you could be Pretty, and Feminine, and Strong and Secure all at the same time.  You could be strong, while also being able to express your feelings. (One of the reasons why I think Sailor Moon is popular among boys as well, not just the short skirts.. but because it gives us all a pass to feel, and it’s ok to express emotions)

I grew up in a time before the digital signal. Back when we had rabbit ears on televisions to adjust, and rotary phones. Shortly after Sailor Moon premiered in the states, I had to make one of my many moves to live with my grandparents. It was a dark time, or so I thought.

We lived in the middle of nowhere, a few miles off the shore of Lake Huron. I couldn’t get much signal on the American side, but I sure could watch Sailor Moon from Canadian tv.. I don’t know if it’s true, but I thought I remember seeing more episodes from Canada that weren’t aired in America.

Then another move. This time, I think Sailor Moon was starting to fade from broadcast television as they didn’t want to get into the controversial at the time season of sailor moon S.

I thought at the time, that this sadly would never resolve. I thought it was stupid too because who cares if Haruka and Michiru are both girls, as long as they love each other.

Then one day, I got lucky when my mom visited a little sushi bar in Royal Oak, MI. It actually was a tiny Japanese grocery store that had a sushi bar in the back. Best sushi around, and really affordable too. But the sushi wasn’t the best part. (well it was and wasn’t but not the point I’m getting at)

In the front of the store, off to the left side of the door, there were small aisles of VHS tapes. All with handwritten titles in Japanese. The VHS tapes were from people that currently lived in Japan, recording specific tv shows, and sending them stateside for people that immigrated over. After a few tapes, they would restock with newer episodes. We asked if there was any Sailor Moon by chance, and there was. Several in fact because it was still airing in Japan in the Super S arc, and therefore quite popular.

We rented all that we could, and we would copy those tapes so I would have my own copy.

It was unedited, uncut, complete with commercials, and definitely NOT dubbed in the least bit.  At the time too, with the internet still trying to find itself, there was no real way to get your hands on a script. Still I watched, and re-watched, enthralled as if I could actually understand what was being said. I couldn’t, but you could still get the jist of it.

When I had a pretty big stock of VHS tapes, my friends and I would rewatch them and make our own dubbings. Some lined up really well, I’m sure when I rewatch Super S this year that I’m going to be laughing at parts that aren’t supposed to be laughed at. Just because I remember “our” story lines.

This is why I’m not the biggest fan of the dubbed versions. Once I started watching (it was an episode in the beginning part of Super S, but not the exact beginning, right before they get new powers from Pegasus) the uncut versions, I couldn’t go back.. To me, the dubbed voices didn’t sound right… Like they were trying too hard.. I in particular never liked Usagi’s American voice, and Chibiusa’s American voice had me punching babies it was so shrill.

I’m getting off topic…

I LOVE Sailor Moon AND I LOVE Sailor Moon Crystal. Both shows have their strengths and weaknesses, but I’m so happy that I got to see something that I love get a revival. I like seeing new takes on stories. Frankly I think this is one of the best Reboots I’ve seen. (List of terrible recent reboots: Clash of the Titans, Karate Kid, Conan, Ninja Turtles, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Spider-man, Superman, Jem and the Holograms.. etc etc) It stays true to the story, it stays true to the art style while simultaneously updating it to fit alongside the anime we’re seeing now.

I’m just saddened by all the animosity among the fans.. I’m worried that all the negativity will bring down the production of the show before it finalizes the story.

That’s the point I’m trying to get across I guess, is that there are people who work on this show that put their all into it.. It must hurt to see so much backlash, so why then, would they be motivated to continue.. Or to improve on something if it’s just never going to be enough.

I think we need to stay more positive, and just wait and see, and give them a chance to show us what they can do.  I think we also need to treat each other with the same love and respect that Usagi would when faced with difference. So to my fellow Sailor Moon fan, whether you are a fan of the manga, 90s show, American version, SMC fan, I love you. I love you even if we disagree, because deep down the reason why you love a certain aspect of the story, it’s a part of what makes you, you. Even if I don’t love what you love, I love that you love it, because it makes you happy.

Seeing a part of my childhood that I didn’t think I’d see as an adult, I love it. It makes me happy and reminds me of the dreams and aspirations that Chibi me had when I first watched the show.

So thank you to all that have worked to reboot this Legend.

You have my back Sailor Moon Crystal. I hope that I will get to see all the arcs rebooted.

Breaking down the spoilers objectively (or kinda)

Look, i know everyone is pissed. I think i’m the only person in the entire fandom that isn’t pissed cause from all the spoilers i got… they kinda match a headcanon i had back when texas 2 aired.

But anyway, let’s talk about the spoilers (or the bits I got) and think about where the writers are trying to drive the plot and how they’ll do that (I’m telling you, this is the only way you’ll be sane):

- The love triangle won’t be resolved.

Disappointed but not surprised.

(or actually…maybe i’ll be disappointed but maybe not, let’s see)

…. looking back, they gave us many signs that they wouldn’t end this love triangle now. Liking it or not, they told us season 3 was about feelings, they had cory and topanga telling Maya that things wouldn’t be easier on season 3 when she said she was confused.

We just…didn’t hear it. (or didn’t want to hear it)

Plus, they had one episode (Legacy) to sort everything out. After New years… yeah… Pretty darn unlikely

(again, i thought at least the lucas/riley aspect would be over. But it was silly of me cause they can’t sort this out before the darn season OF FEELINGS. So It was my mistake)

But is this the end of the world?

No, calm down. Let me tell you my thoughts and you decide if they make sense:

Look, the writers know we don’t want all that drama.

One of the reasons why we had a bunch of non-triangle related episodes after texas and then after new years is not just because they like the crazy airing order- it’s because people don’t tune in their televisions to watch maya and riley “fight” over lucas. They want to watch gmw, they want the comedy, the cute stuff, the lessons. They might like a ship or another, but they don’t watch this show because of it.

And sure, the writers themselves might like this drama (idk what goes on their heads) but they know they’re not writing a drama show. This is disney channel

(even on icarly, for those of you who watched it, the big ship episodes were all spread out. The biggest arc lasted for 4 episodes and then it was over. That’s how kids’ shows work when they have love triangles and romance and such).

Now, when season 2 ends… there will be no prodution/airing order that can save the audience from all of this drama. Except………………..

except if riley, maya and lucas decide to stop whatever it is that is happening between all of them.

-Cue to the seniors love triangle.

Why do we even need it? THINK.

why would we need a random love triangle to remind us of another love triangle we surely didn’t need to be reminded of?

(even better, Didn’t the writers just tell us that there is NO love triangle?)

Parallels on Gmw are tricky, they are almost NEVER what they seem (exibit A: Lucas and Riley exibit B: Farkle, exibit C: “never assume, look deeply, yada yada yada” do i need to go on?).

So this parallel will NOT be here to be Lucas/Maya/Riley on the future. However, Riley, Lucas and Maya won’t know that, will they?

So we get a whole episode of those three being nervous about love triangles, then scared about their futures and losing their friends and BAM… they probably agree to stop everything and only be friends.

And all of this isn’t about Lucas making any choice.

(ad it never was tbqh)

But rather about the three of them making the same choice.

(my personal favorite would be if they kinda made a promise to never let anything romantic happen between them, cause i’m a jerk… but anyway).

and this would make sense not only to the plot, but to the characters because: 1- the three of them have NO IDEA what they’re feeling. 2- They choose their friends above EVERYTHING, definitely over themselves and feelings they can’t understand 3b- Didn’t cory tell them to stop everything on texas3?

So there you go, the show will be back on track - less drama for us the viewers, yay.

…………At the same time, the writers will be able to play with the ships on the sidelines like they’ve been doing on season 1 and 2.

Here lies the problem.

Look, to me, the writers have given all the signs in this whole wide world that they want Lucaya + Riarkle. They couldn’t be clearer. Rewatch the show. Think about the things Farkle said to riley and didn’t say to maya *or the things he said that lucas didn’t say. Think about the things Lucas said to Maya and didn’t say to Riley… look at the way the characters are arranged (seriously, if you wanna make a rewatch just paying attention to that it’s ALWAYS riarkle + lucaya or riley/maya + Farkle/Lucas. This just wouldn’t happen if the writers were truly planning on anything else. Even on shows like iCarly and freaking How I met your mother, where the endgames were “clear” we didn’t have this sort of arrangements ).

So, to me, i think i know where they’re going. The only problem is HOW they’ll get there.

Cause the writers have a big issue ahead. They need to convince the audience that lucas/maya love each other romantically, but lucas/riley don’t.AND they need to bring riarkle into the game (and, man, they’ll have to worrrkk)

So, it makes sense that they’d drag the love triangle longer cause they need the viewers to stay tuned, so they can show them. SO they can convice them.

(i mean, they could have killed rilucas completely on legacy, but many of the casual viewers wouldn’t get it at all. They’d be pissed, they’d be sad for riley. They need to see- like we do - WHY lucas and riley are just friends while lucas and maya aren’t. And one episode won’t do it.

Riley needs to see all of this too. Remember that Riley very often reflects the casual viewer because this show is on HER POV. If one episode won’t be enough for Riley to kill rilucas romanticallym it definitely won’t be to the casual viewers. )

Now, they have basically one season to do all of this. Season 3 is the one about feelings and season 4 is a whoooole other story…..so, for now, i don’t know when they’ll kill the triangle (my bet is on SkyLodge) - or if they’ll kill it in one episode that is (maybe it’ll be a slow process).

Either way, i think it’s likely that it won’t be there on season 4 anymore.

(PLEASE it can’t be there on season 4. Cause they’ll need to talk about relationships in general on the show, and they won’t be able to make that if the characters don’t know what their relationships are.

So - to me- if season 3 is about feelings…this is the season where they all figure out what they are to each other. Then season 4 should be about relationships. But I digress)

- Now, add Josh, Smackle and Farkle to this crazy mix.

Just like riley, maya and lucas couldn’t possible have figured out their feelings on season 2 if season 3 is the one about feelings- farkle FOR SURE- doesn’t know what he’s feeling:

“And I don’t know how to handle these feelings we’re feeling. “  (texas3)

“Because all these things we’re feeling are new.
We don’t know what they are yet. “ (New Years)

(Let’s not ignore what the writers are telling us this time, huh?)

So,sure, Farkle is happy with smackle on the end of season 2 and beginning of season 3…… but how exactly is this a good sign for them?

If farkle is so sure about his feelings for smackle then…what’s left to figure out? what’s his arc on season 3 if he has his feelings all figured out? Because this guy is one of the main characters of this show (he’s on more episodes than Lucas),so FOR SURE he has an arc on season 3 and IT WILL be about feelings. And arcs imply changes so… he starts the season of “figuring out feelings” with smackle…..how does he end this season?

(think about it)

More than that, it makes complete sense that Josh and Smackle are in all this

How do you learn in life? About ANYTHING?

Comparisons and Contrast.

How does maya figure oout her feelings for Lucas? She needs Josh

Farkle needs Smackle fo figure out her feelings for Riley (and Maya if you believe in Mackle but …later I’ll talk about this)

and Riley needs Lucas to figure out her feelings for Farkle

and Lucas already has Maya and Riley.

So, plotwise, everything that i’ve heard about the spoilers MAKE SENSE.

Because I can see why they made certain choices in order to slowly make the casual viewers catch up (in case anyone hasn’t noticed, texas and new years was not enough AT ALL) and they need to bring gmw back to the comedy/kid show side, so they need to press pause on this blatant love triangle and they need to work on the sidelines yet again.

I just honestly can’t know if they’ll make it a pleasant and (truly) honest ride or if they’ll  play with the love triangle (even on the sidelines) until we die.

What I can tell you is that, in my opinion, it wouldn’t make sense for them to do this, considering i believe they need to drag the love triangle just to convince everyone that it doesn’t exist. So…. there’s let’s wait and see

“Do you know how many friends I’ve made since I made an account here?”

“The fact is, you stuck with each other. Wether it was for pure enjoyment, or to protect one another. I could feel the worry and concern between the entire group. It was real.”

“You said it yourself once. Look at how many hours we’ve spent playing this game, having a good time. Hell, the drama involved makes me even more invested. I guess…more importantly…if it weren’t for TOME, I wouldn’t have met you.”

“To be treated like an equal. Like a friend. By those who I grew to cherish.”

I’ve been wanting to talk about these four scenes for a long time. Each of them just hit home so hard for me, and each of them are part of the reason why I love TOME so much. So…if you all will allow it, I’d like to share my thoughts. This is gonna get pretty personal, but this is something I truly want to say.

OK so @whitechoko asked about my reasons to ship Haruka/Rin

This turned into a really long post, because when I start to talk about these two losers, it always turns into an essay.I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH OKAY. THEY’RE SO SPECIAL TO ME. I’M SO EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO THEM. THEY’RE AN IMPORTANT PART OF MY LIFE.

This ship is the otp of all otps I’ve ever otp’d. First time in my whole shipping life my otp fits in EVERY trope I adore. They’re just perfect like that. I don’t ship these two only because of ~rival x rival, sexy glaring, sexual tension, they look hawt together~ reasons. Those things are spicing up things and that’s awesome, but this ship is more than that, at least to me. This ship has EVERYTHING. I can go from “ Aww they’re so cute.” to “ Oh my god help them, they’re idiots.”, from “ Wow what is this shojo?” to “Holy hell that’s hot.” They can make me laugh and cry, give me so many different emotions.

I officially got into this ship from the “Romantic, right?” moment. I thought “Why that cheerful kid from the whole group chose the grumpy kid and teasingly smiling to him said those lines? And why the grumpy kid got embarrassed and blushed? Hey, there is something special going on here and I’m so into that.” And so it began and here I am. I got it bad when I rewatched the series and reread the novels last year. I paid attention to every single detail and symbolism and really fell in love with this wonderful and inspiring relationship even more. Now let’s get to the real point of this post. Why do I love them? What do they have that made me love them so much? I tried to keep this as short as possible (originally this was 7k+ of word vomit). Ok so, things I love about this ship.

Why do you prefer Rory/Jess more than Rory/Logan?

Oh wow this is….a really long answer for midnight lmao.

The simplest way of putting it is like this: think about the last time the audience saw each boyfriend. That last time is crucial, as that is when they reached the peak of their character development that we have seen thus far and is ergo the most important imo. I think it best shows who each of the boyfriends are at their core.

The last time we saw Dean, he was a broken, bitter, angry man who was lashing out at the world and more specifically, Luke and Lorelai - the assumed fan favorite couple of the series and thus the ones that the audience is meant to be most protective over. He lost everything because of his affair with Rory, as is rightly deserved. I know you didn’t bring up Dean in your ask, but I just wanted to set it up like this as I believe most of the fandom (thankfully, thank God, get Dean Forrester lovers away from me 2KForever) unanimously hates Dean. We all agree that he isn’t good enough for Rory.

The last time we see Logan, he has proposed to Rory. This is very fresh in my mind because I just rewatched the episode last night and spent over two hours today listening to the Gilmore Guys’ analyzation of it. HE PROPOSES TO HER IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!! HER FRIENDS, HER FAMILY, HER GRANDPARENTS WHO HE KNEW WOULD BE ON HIS SIDE!!! As he approaches Rory to do exactly that, he tells Christopher that Chris might not want to leave the room just then to call Gigi’s babysitter. And what are Lorelai and Christopher’s reactions? “He’s not?” “No, not now.” in the most confused and worried parental tone because they know that Rory would not want a proposal in these circumstances. Even Logan does! After the proposal when they go to talk outside, he literally says “I know you don’t like public proposals.” THEN!!!! BITCH!!!!! DON’T DO IT!!!!! He goes on to discuss all about how RORY can fit into HIS new life in California, not even bringing up her career ambitions and potential plans until after he brings up more important things to Rory like doing athletic things (Jesus Christ Logan do you know your girlfriend at all) and avocado trees. In the end, Logan gets upset that Rory won’t accept his proposal then and there and walks away for good, ruining her graduation. I, in all honesty, don’t fully blame Logan for having the mentality that there was no coming back from that proposal, but he should have known Rory well enough to know that now wasn’t the time and that the way in which he conducted his proposal belied his true ignorance of who Rory Gilmore is outside of the mask that she puts on for society life.

Contrast all of this to Jess, who when we see him last has his life fully and completely together. Who has finally “done more” the way Rory always believed he could. A small detail that I’ve always loved about Rory’s appearance at Truncheon Books is that she’s wearing her old Converse. It’s such a tiny thing, but I remember watching that scene for the first time and thinking, “She looks the most like Rory than she has in a long time. Not completely Rory. Not yet, but she’s getting there.” I love Jess the most because I love the Rory that he brings out the most. The Rory who wears old Converse and the qualities that those represent. When Jess says, “It is what it is. You. Me.” he’s saying that they will always feel that pull towards each other. Will always bring out the best in each other and believe in each other and know each other better than anyone (”You graduate already, Doogie?” “And you love it. Every minute of it. Come on, tell me you don’t.” “I do. It’s exciting.” “You’re still a contender.”)

Anyway!!!!!!!!!!! This is a mess because I have so many feelings about literati and this is only one reason why I prefer Rory/Jess more than Rory/Logan but I can’t wait for Rory/Jess to finally be endgame in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on November 25, 2016.

Hello - long time following, first time asking: Was rewatching old Shield today, and rediscovered the lie detector scene - Fitz is asked "you're stranded on a desert island. In front of you there's a box, what's in the box?" And without hesitation, Fitzs answers: "Simmons." I saw this today, and after watching everything else they've been through together, I think I have to say - it's the sexiest moment. And there aren't many of them, right...? How quick he answers, how she's all he wants...?

aw yes, it’s really a lovely moment! one of my favorite ones for their relationship from S1. but I actually don’t think he sees his answer as being romantic - which is part of what I love about it.

to him, Simmons is the obvious answer because

in his mind, if Fitz were stuck on a desert island his best chance at getting off the island (or just surviving in general) is Simmons. he knows that the two of them are simply better together. in fact, this is proven time and again through both seasons - even in 1x22 he can’t come up with a way to save her life (and offer her his in exchange) until they work together to come up with blowing the window’s seal.

what I find so appealing about that scene is the fact that if someone asked him if that answer was romantic, he would say absolutely not with an uncomfortable scoff. of course it wasn’t romantic - it’s just what makes the most sense. and in a roundabout way, that is exactly what makes it romantic/endearing: his unwavering faith in Simmons

you’re right that there are very few of these moments, partially because he spends so much time denying his feelings to himself. the only other two I can think of are from the following two season premieres:

of course, in this one he’s not actually talking to anyone - he’s speaking to Jemmaginary. but I love this moment, just because he’s so unguarded about her in a way that he almost never is. when he was recovering, she became his happy place. in a way, I think that was his subconscious reminding himself of why he has his brain injury. having Jemmaginary around to help reminds him that he gave the oxygen to Jemma so that she could live, so that she could be healthy and happy - even if it was without him. to remind himself that he doesn’t regret doing that, even for a second.

by season 3, he’s so frantic to get her back that he’s seemingly given up on denying the feelings that he spent so long repressing. he literally has nothing left to lose - what could it hurt to finally allow himself to admit out loud that he loves Jemma Simmons? (as we find out later that episode - it hurts a lot.)
