reversal on fortune

“I’ve had so many lovely messages wishing me a merry Christmas. Thank you! I’ve also heard from people who are going through very tough times. These always seem worse at Christmas. At this time of year, we’re bombarded with images of perfect lives, which bear as little relation to reality as tinsel does to gold. If you’re lucky enough to be with the people you love, warm and safe, with enough to eat, I’m sure you feel as blessed as I do. But if your life is currently full of difficulties; if you aren’t where you want to be, either literally or figuratively, remember that extraordinary transformations are possible. Everything changes. Nothing is forever. Thinking back to my worst Christmas, I found it hard to believe that my unhappiness would pass. I was truly afraid of the future. You never know what the future holds. Astonishing reversals of fortune happen every minute. So if you’re sad, or lonely, or bereaved, or ill, separated from your loved ones or in any other way suffering this Christmas, I send you love and wish you luck and better times. Millions of us have been where you are now. Remember, Christmas Day is, in the end, just a day. It isn’t a test or a scorecard of you or your life, so be kind to yourself. Merry Christmas!” ~JK Rowling’s Christmas message posted on Twitter, December 25th, 2016

Once I witnessed a windstorm so severe two 100-year-old trees were uprooted on the spot. The next day, walking among the wreckage, I found the friable nests of birds, completely intact and unharmed on the ground. That the featherweight survive the massive, that this reversal of fortune takes place among us—that is what haunts me. I don’t know what it means.

Okay so Anti-Heroes are super cool and all but imagine Reverse!AU in which Marinette is a very calm and quiet girl who doesn’t care too much for people but talks to them anyway and Adrien is the dangerous rebel delinquent who no one messes with because he could destroy them if he wants to and one day Adrien does something to annoy Marinette and she just decks him in the face and everyone but Marinette is stunned and she just tells Adrien off and he just falls in love on the spot because wow this girl is so amusing and she is the only one who has ever dared to defy him so he is constantly flirting with her and trying to get a rise out of her but she just ignores him and gets annoyed with him because she’s already madly in love with the famous villain Chat Blanc but TURNS OUT Adrien is actually Chat Blanc and Marinette is actually Miss Fortune, his partner in crime. Miss Fortune is completely in love with Chat Blanc, to the point where she is willing to do literally anything for him but Blanc doesn’t care for her and only gives her attention when he needs something from her (think along the lines of a Joker/Harley type of relationship except probably less dark) SOMEONE MAKE THIS A THING

She thought their father always had a soft spot for certain children, and Lysa had never been one of them, but that was in the past. It was not something she would think of now. Not when she had made him so proud with her children which delighted him to no end. She laughed and placed her arm around her sister’s shoulders and began to walk with her,

“Yes, one only has to see him with them to see how ridiculous his protestations were.”
She looked upon the little red haired boy who looked very little like his father but strikingly like his mother and she thought it was a good thing. The Starks had always been such cold and stern looking creatures that the idea of the look on a child was an unsettling one to her,

“He is beautiful, Cat, and you have plenty reason to be proud.” She smiled as she watched him play with his cousins, “And perhaps your next will have the Stark look and you shall have one of each!” If it did, she hoped for the child’s sake and her sister’s that it would be a boy. A girl with her father’s look would have such little prospects. “And he bodes well in the weather, Cat? I would think this cold could be quite testing for a child through a whole winter.”

At the talk of the ‘next’, of another child, Catelyn’s smile faltered, concern knitting across her brow, weaving lines of worry and heartache upon her expression. She thought of Ned’s kisses upon a brow when she had her still birth. That had been worse than any miscarriage…to give birth to death was something so cruel, that she felt as she were being punished for some unknown crime. If not for Ned’s love, and Robb wonderful smiles, his little gifts…she would not have had the strength to carry on.

“Perhaps,” She finally said to Lysa, refusing to leave hope behind entirely. She had recently begun to journey to the Godswood, making her prayers to the Gods of the North, the Old Gods, for a child to be carried healthily to term. She rested a hand on he belly and prayed those prayers had been heard by Ned’s Gods where her own had remained deaf.

“The Starks do not feel the cold as others do; Robb had played in snows that would cause other children to freeze. Ned is the same…he suffered the last winter better than I” She added, her smile returning, “You are fortunate it is only summer snows now”

What a beautiful lady!

Imagine that the dynamic between Chat Blanc and Miss Fortune is reversed. Imagine that Chat Blanc is the more feared/more respected among the two and the brains of the operation, while Miss Fortune is generally seen as his sidekick and the brawn

Kevin Steen terrorizes the smollest El Generico fan at the 2011 Battle of Los Angeles. The fan eventually works up the courage to give Kevin a defiant finger just before El Generico deals out some karmic wrestling justice. Kevin looking at the kid, totally shocked by the reversal of his fortunes, mid-bodyslam and El Generico’s this is for you kid pointing are nice touches.

confettiyetti  asked:

I'll give it a try. Do me? :)

Card 1 -  What you learned in 2016.

I pulled the King of Swords. This represents clarity, authority, and honesty. I think you learned the truth or found a clearer answer to questions you had for a long time.

Card 2 -  How your 2016 went, overall.

I pulled the Three of Swords, which tells me your year was one of grief and heartache. I assume this is related to your first card and wish you the best in your healing process.

Card 3 - What you should consider while stepping into 2017.

Wheel of Fortune (reversed) tells me there might be a situation where there is a lack of luck or control on your behalf. Be aware of any negative external forces, protect yourself, and consider that you may have to relinquish control once in a while.

Card 4 - How your 2017 will go, overall.

The Prince of Wands means your year will be one of exploration and discovery. I’d encourage you to try new things, maybe out of your comfort zone, and take oppourtunities to lead into a positive, happy 2017.

Headcanon: Whenever the Lunarians have some kind of battle that directly involves them, they get Sagume involved. Her role is specifically to help figure out the enemy’s battle plan, discuss what they’re trying to do, and so forth. “It is clear to me now that the group at the eastern gate is a feint to distract us while the main attack is from the northern region.” “Surely Yakumo intends to leave before the window of opportunity ends …” “That is obviously a team of assassins sent after Lord Tsukuyomi himself.” Because I mean her “reversal of the wheel of fortune” power is so obviously-broken from a tactical standpoint, it doesn’t make sense that they wouldn’t weaponize it.

Height Disparity (RWBY Snippet)

Weiss frowned. She wasn’t sure when it had happened, but Ruby was now taller than her. And it wasn’t by just a little bit either. No, the last time they had kissed, Weiss had been forced to go up onto the tips of her toes.

It couldn’t be because she was short. No, Weiss was hardly the tallest person in the world, but she didn’t feel short next to most other women. She certainly didn’t feel short when she went into meetings that included other women. This had to be Ruby’s fault.

Yes, that was it.

Weiss wasn’t short. Ruby was simply obnoxiously tall.

Luckily, however, Ruby hadn’t seemed to notice the apparent reversal in their fortunes. That luck, unfortunately, did not last.

“Hey, Weiss.” Ruby ambled into the kitchen of their apartment. “What are you doing?”

“I am attempting to make those cookies you like.”

“Cool.” Ruby paused. “Oh, the flour is way up there on the shelf. Let me get that for you.”

Weiss stopped what she was doing and turned. “I can get the flour, Ruby.”

Ruby’s lips twitched. “Can you?”

Weiss’s eyes widened. Ruby had finally noticed. Well, she’d show Ruby Rose that Weiss Schnee needed the help of no obnoxiously tall woman! “I most certainly can!”

She couldn’t.

Even standing on the tips of her toes, Weiss was agonisingly close to reaching the flour. “Not one word…” she growled.

Ruby smiled and didn’t say a word. Instead, she vanished in a blur of motion and then reappeared with a stepladder.

Weiss glared at the busted lighted bulb. Thanks to the high ceilings of her apartment, she couldn’t reach the bulb even when she was standing on a chair. No, she’d have to use her glyphs to give her an extra few inches of height.

And Ruby was right there watching because Weiss had insisted that she could do it without her help.

“You know,” Ruby drawled. “I could probably reach that if I stood on the chair -”

“No!” Weiss snapped. “I can handle it.”

“Okay…” Ruby said. “If you say so.”

Weiss took a deep breath. Was she really going to use her Semblance for this when Ruby was right there? That was crazy. She was more mature than that. She was a bigger person than - no. She wasn’t. She was absolutely going to use her Semblance.

“Does it bother you that I’m taller than you now?” Ruby murmured. They were curled up together on the couch watching one of those ridiculously saccharine romantic comedies that Ruby enjoyed when she wasn’t advocating the latest action blockbuster.

Weiss huffed. “No.”

“Maybe a little,” Weiss admitted. “I just… I didn’t even notice that you were taller than me until recently. What sort of person doesn’t notice something like that?”

“To be fair,” Ruby replied. “I didn’t notice I was taller than you until I realised how much fun it was to lift you off your feet when we kissed.”

Weiss found herself chuckling. “It is nice when you do that.”

“It is, right?” Ruby gave Weiss a very Yang-like smirk. “And thinks of it this way. I can help you reach things that are way up high, and the next time we have to wander around in a cave or something, you won’t have to worry about hitting your head.”

“Ruby, I love you, but I will totally stab you if you keep making fun of me.”

“And our being together makes even more sense now. If we have kids maybe they’ll inherit my tall genes and -”

“Ruby.” Weiss pushed Ruby onto her back and loomed over her. “I would hate to murder you before we can have kids, so please, stop talking.”
